  1. Trump in 2006: 'I like nepotism' Not much has changed. Ivanka now gets security clearance and a post in the White House.
  2. The U.S. House of Representatives just voted 215 - 205 to gut the FCC’s Internet privacy rules that prevent Internet Service Providers (ISPs) like Comcast and Verizon from selling their customer’s personal information to advertisers without their consent. The measure already passed the Senate last week, so it will now head to the President’s desk for signing. US lawmakers voted to allow ISPs to: Monitor and sell customer’s location data, search history, app usage, and browsing habits to advertisers without your permission Hijack customer’s search results, redirecting their traffic to paying third parties Insert ads into web pages that would otherwise not have them This is the list of the 50 Senate members that voted for gutting Internet privacy rules. 3. My brother brought this to my attention: a very interesting article with Greek historian Vasilis Kremmydas talking about economic conditions in Greece around the time of the Greek War for Independence in 1821. He talks about myths that were weaved somehow into the fabric of Greek history (like the myth where Bishop Germanos of Patra (Παλαιών Πατρών Γερμανός) οn March 25, 1821, blessed the fighters at Agia Lavra in Achaea and raised a banner of war), the economic conditions surrounding Greeks at the time. A very interesting reading for history buffs and those that like to educate themselves as to what were the real conditions and what really happened during the Greek War of Independence. Ο Βασίλης Κρεμμυδάς καταρρίπτει έναν-έναν τους μύθους του 1821 (κι όχι μόνο το Κρυφό Σχολειό) Πηγή: http://www.lifo.gr/articles/book_articles/93091 (Unfortunately it's in Greek only, so some readers might have to resort to online translation services - it's well worth the time ! )
  4. CNN has a page dedicated to "Tracking Trump's promises." - Donald Trump made hundreds of promises, pledges and threats on his road to the White House. This continuously updated interactive feature tracks his progress in delivering on that agenda at the beginning of his term. Explore Trump's issues and progress... For some it's a measurement of accomplishment, for others the counting of steps for the USA jumping off the cliff. It would be interesting to revisit that page at the end of Trump's first 6 months.
  5. And what grid lock might that be? Would you care to elaborate? We don't all necessarily espouse your distaste for Obama, so when you make statements like that please enlighten us as to why you want us to take your opinion seriously. Is it the economy that the Obama administration failed at? Jobs? Human Rights? The Environment? Providing Healthcare to an additional 20 million Americans that did not have any sort of healthcare before? Please enlighten us. No more 'drive-by shooting.' Unless you have a full formulated argument, or can back up statements like the above using coherent English, don't bother throwing 'smoke-bombs' like that. They will be deleted.
  6. I've been watching Marvel's Luke Cage on Netflix these past few weeks... If you like Marvel comics, this is a decent presentation.
  7. From CNN: Gergen: May be worst 100 days of any presidency Ultimately it's the American people that will be asked to pay the price for an incompetent leader and a dysfunctional government.
  8. Anyway, reading about Aggelos Spyridon brought back memories. For those of us old enough to have experienced him in his hay-days, he was quite the terror for all offensive players, ο βράχος της αμυνας του Άρη. Αααχχχ, οι παλιές καλές ημέρες! Χρηστίδης, Αλεξιάδης, Σπυρίδων... We have a wiki entry for Aris on the Phantis Wiki, but not enough people to help contribute details. Any volunteers to help add to the Aris and the Aris players entries? Let's promote Aris by informing people about the huge part that Aris plays in Thessaloniki sports history, and Greek sports history for that matter.
  9. Funny! Yes, you are right. Can't trust Google for a decent translation anymore. Thanks for making me laugh. Ακρως διασκεδαστικό. I admit to it - guilty as charged.
  10. Drink some coffee and pretend you know what you're doing.

  11. Goal video available here: http://www.novasports.gr/podosfairo/ellada/super-league/article/317123/live-panathinaikos-olubiakos-1930/
  12. And the last paragraph on the page that you reference speaks volumes of how humans are destroying the very planet that they live on. Back in the States, shit doesn't look good for future climate change efforts. Unfortunately, the guy currently tweeting and shitting from the comforts of the White House once tweeted (and still hasn't deleted!) that climate change was a hoax invented by China. It is sad to see our species pillaging Mother Nature all for a myopic short term insignificant gain called 'money.'
  13. Great 'get to know you' topic! Especially interested in the customs lifestyle to see what is brought over in terms of customs and how things evolve in a different social setting. 14. Taunting and provoking is the equivalent of trolling. Unless you can contribute ideas or thoughts to a conversation, it's best to stay out of it. Be warned.
  15. Yep, that one. It should be giving you a 1-hour window after you tell it "Yoohoo! It's only me!" I guess that's not happening in your case?
  16. According to the security settings, a visitor is allowed access to the website after completing a challenge for 1 hour. So theoretically, you shouldn't be getting this "Are you a robot" challenge for an hour once you verify yourself. Or is that one of those things that doesn't work the way it's supposed to?
  17. It appears that the problem might be the contents of your clipboard. When you cut and paste contents from another web page, it also copies the formatting and the HTML tags. When you paste it in our forum, the security mechanism pops up asking you if you are a robot or not. That's because you are pasting the text and the HTML tags (for formatting). Hackers try to poke holes by using HTML and javascript (usually). Try it by pasting unformatted text. In Windows, depending on the browser, you can paste unformatted text by right clicking and selecting "Paste as Plain Text (in Google Chrome), or control-right clicking and selecting "paste without formatting" (in Mozilla Firefox). Haven't tried the other browsers, but I'm assuming there would be a similar way. Let me know if this workaround works...
  18. I moved it there. By the way, what is the body copy content that you suspect might be the culprit? Can you type here?
  19. Sorry to say but Bananas is no longer the NEWEST moderator (things are moving so fast in today's world...) The newest moderator is Nikitas and he has been tasked with the 'Greek National Team' and 'Greek Players abroad' forums. Welcome to the moderating team Nikitas.
  20. Drum-roll please!.... Bananas joins us as the newest moderator form the "Let's Talk about this" and PAOK forums. Thank you for volunteering to help sir !
  21. Polls are explicitly allowed in the World Cup forum. I don't know why you are experiencing this problem. Unless others are experiencing the same problems, it could be a cache problem affecting you. Have you been successful in posting polls in other forums? Can you try posting this particular topic and poll in another forum and then have myself (or a moderator) move it where it belongs? Keep me posted and we'll try to address this.
  22. The ad was filmed in Mani. Filming took under 3 days. From the Greek daily Ethnos:Residents of Mani that promote the iPhone (unfortunately for some it is in Greek)
  23. Tzatziki has accepted the invitation to help with the moderation of the Let's Talk About this forum. He will also help with the moderation of the Olympiacos forums. Thank you Tzatziki for all your help and I wish you good luck with your newly assigned tasks.
  24. More on Costas Bezos... Follow the link for the playlist on Youtube. Really priceless!
