  1. Looking back on the highlights, it hurts so much more. How did we not get through. Ajax created zero we had some glorious chances. Its been a while since ive see us out play a team at European level (Brondby last year but Brondby is no ajax) We really should have been in the champions league play-offs. Even half chances like the cimirot one where his touch just got away from him and his shot gets blocked. Tzavella's free kick, a little more height and a touch more bend and its in. Let alone Klaus chances. But thats football I guess, luck wasn't with us on 3-4 occasions and we copped a nice suckerpunch. Hoping for a really good year in the league and a decent run in the Europa. We have the team to do it, if you add a striker who knows... Axx re paokara, this ones gonna hurt for a while

  4. I'm just having a look at the squad now at http://www.transfermarkt.com/paok-thessaloniki/startseite/verein/1091 and I came up with the following 26 players for the squad. Goalkeepers (3) Brkic Glykos Vellidis Defenders (8) Matos Kitsiou Varela Crespo Tzavellas Malezas Leovac Korovesis - can play as attacking winger if required. Midfield (6) Cimirot Charisis Shakhov Canas Tziolis Kace - will he stay ? Attacking Midfielders/Wingers (6) Biseswar Pelkas Rodrigues Jairo - will he stay ? Djalma Mystakidis Strikers (3) Pereyra Klaus Koulouris As far as transfers go, we have in theory upgraded in several areas. Whether that remains to be the case, we can discuss in a few months or so. 1) Brkic > Glykos 2) Matos > Skondras/Kitsiou/Konstantinidis 3) Crespo > Vitor/Chatziisaias 4) Varela > Vitor and Chatziisaias 5) Shakhov > Golasa 6) Mak > Djalma ??? This one will be interesting. I don't think Djalma will be better than Mak. Just different. I don't think they are the same sort of player, but overall, if I had to pick one, it'd be Mak. I really believe with his explosive pace and Ajax's high defensive line, he would've wreaked mayhem. Oh well, it is what it is. 7) Canas. I'm expecting good things. He's meant to have a very high work rate. Could be the replace for Kace. 8) Biseswar, I don't know. He looks like he's gained weight instead of losing it,

  5. PAOK will play two friendlies this week. August 9th in Toumba against Veria (20:00 GR time) and August 10th in Peristeri against Atromitos (21:15 GR time). No spectators allowed in the home game. The players will be devided in two groups in order to have everybody (enough) playing time.

  7. There are several things here, so let's separate them. Greece has not been able to successfully and efficiently run their own affairs, including the economy since 1821. Entry into the EU was rushed, partly on fake numbers Greece gave the EU, partly to forge a union with a common currency (monetary policy) but with dozens of different national economic policies. The drachma was exchanged at much higher value than warranted too. Many Greeks felt rich almost overnight. Many Euros got tired of Greece's behavior, especially the newly elected Syriza's rhetoric and amateurish stance. It was punishment time. Since the 1980s, Greece thought it was smarter and could fool the EU. Payback was almost natural when the Greek state went bankrupt. The austerity package was badly planned and implemented. It has turned many Euros (for different reasons) against the EU. Extreme parties became stronger (not a good thing either). Greece became a lab animal on life support and with no recovery in sight Greece remains badly managed by her own leaders! Let's say I was rich enough to pay off all of Greece's debt. So no more crazy austerity or capital controls. Is anyone confident here or anywhere to assure me that this mess would not happen again?...

  8. The man (Georgiou) is a joke. Please. Tsoukala is also for comic relief, if he wrote a polemic on soccer analysis would you expect me to read it?

  10. Its a shame no Greek team has made CL Whether its OSFP or PAOK. Unfortunately Marinakis is to blame for destroying not only Greek League but also the National Team with the corruption. At the end of the day Marinakis cares about himself and no one else. He has raped and pillaged the Greek League and Olympiakos. Vangelis will bail now that there is no guaranteed CL money coming in and concentrate on his new project. Not sure what the future holds for Olympiakos but there is hope for the Greek League as it will allow AEK, PAOK, and PAO to compete again which will restore the strength of the Greek League. The next 5 years are crucial but this is a blessing in disguise. The Oly fans need to get rid of the cancer Marinakis!

  11. A big issue with the team for me is the lack of Greeks, excluding the GK you had 1 outfield Greek in Fortounis. Sure some current players will have a interest in the team history wise etc, but you wont get the same passion as you will by having Greeks in the team, who will bleed for the fanela. You could say there is a lack of talent in the Greek pool, but its up to Olympiakos to develop these players above any other team considering the amount of success its had, be it on the pitch or on paper.....
