  1. it is beyond ridiculous for anyone to assume PAO would not want to play in Europa League group stages to concentrate on GSL .. If PAO's squad is 'too thin' to play 6 mid week games between September and Christmas, then the squad is 'too thin ' to win the GSL..

  2. Realistically, assuming you deliberately don't field weak teams on purpose to rest the players for the league, I would expect PAO doesn't lose every match. For each win it's 200K, each draw 100K. If you win the group, another 400K, runner up 200K. Adding all of the prize money up together with TV and stadium revenue for the matches, and you could be looking at 3M to 4M easy. For a club that isn't flush with cash, that's a significant amount. I agree what you want is the CL money, but realistically, how on earth are PAOK, PAO or AEK going to win the title ? I just don't see it happening, although it would be nice to see a different team win the title for the first time in 187,000 years. So, it's a case of, take the EL semi-seriously and get 3M or 4M, or take the gamble, and maybe if all the stars align (and there are lots of stars that need to align) you get the CL spot. It's a big gamble. I get that if PAO were in serious title contention, might rest players vs the EL, but I don't buy not taking this qualification game seriously. It's as simple as "here is a team that is inferior to you, if you beat them, I'll give you 2.5M Euros". Who wouldn't take up that offer ?

  3. A little food for thought on our current roster: Stelios Kitsiou has been with PAOK since he was 14 years old. (currently 21 years old) Dimitris Konstantinidis has been with PAOK since he was 14 years old. (currently 21 years old) Dimitris Pelkas has been with PAOK since he was 14 years old. (currently 21 years old) Ergys Kace has been with PAOK since he was 11 years old. (currently 22 years old) Stephanos Athanasiadis has been with PAOK since he was 8 years old. (Currently 26 years old) Efthimios Koulouris has been with PAOK since he was 9 years old. (Currently 19 years old)

  5. THANK YOU!!!do you guys actually think the players dont give a F*** about europa because of the little money that PAO can earn from it when compared to CL? Let's be serious here guys, they'd all rather play in a europa league game than a standard GSL game any day of the week. Europa league competition is better than GSL and also allows the players to showcase themselves to the world what they are all about. Weather PAO is a stepping stone for them to a better future or it's their passion to play for PAO. The incentive to play europa league is much higher than a shitty game against levadiakos away on a pitch that is no better than my backyard... And like red sherif said...wtf is 6 games really going to do to a squad in the long scheme of things. Those of you saying 'F*** europa' are flat out idiots!! We have a great squad to have a very good chance at excelling this year in the europa league, why not take our chances and see how good we really are. Anybody remember the two wins against Roma 3-2 and 2-3??? They were in europa league... Oh i bet you all forgot about them didn't you

  8. Our women will face Orebro. They finished 2d in the Swedish League and thus gained their first ever qualification for the CL. Good draw as they are not the strongest contenders in the field. First game in Thessaloniki October 7th/8th. Second Leg October 14th/15th.

  9. I have to agree with you athinaios. To be fair, I don't think Tsipras or anyone else predicted how nasty the EU/ECB reaction would be. When the ECB cut off funding for Greek banks, well, that is a day to remember. The nastiness with which the new terms were forced on Greece has also been a revelation. If anything positive has come out of this, it's the fact that the EU doesn't look like the good guy anymore. They got nasty, and there was no way they could make themselves look like the good guys, no matter how hard they tried. The Euro is still around for the moment, but what the EU/ECB did to Greece only helped create more opposition against the Euro "project". Everybody now knows who really runs the show. Everybody now knows the EU isn't for the benefit of all. Everybody now knows that it is not a democratic institution. Opposition against the Euro/EU/ECB is growing albeit slowly. I don't see this trend reversing. And all of the above has in it's own way, been constructive. Would a Samaras government have done the same ?

  10. Will say my piece on the Turkish situation. I grew up with Turks in Australia right through school. We lived in each other's pockets and have been till now. Been to Turkey from Greece meeting up with one of them and his missus. He came all the way up from smirni in sweltering heat to meet me in instanbul. My take on turkey Phenomenal , the people are fantastic and I was treated very well. We stayed at my mates parents next door neighbours when they used to live in turkey. Treated me like their own son kisses hugs u name it. They have moved on don't be easily swayed the people have moved on. It opened my eyes they are like us and they love Greece and commute their for their summer holidays.Did allot of southern turkey smirni, oludeniz fetiye then boat trip back to Rhodes an amazing 3 weeks in Turkey. Respect his team Gajatasaray and watched the Uefa final with arsenal in a Turkish cafenio was one of the best football experiences ever. Being a crazy Romania fan and idolised gica hagi sealed the deal for me to have a vented interest in galatSaray. There's good and bad everywhere let go of all the nonsense I say football unites people not the other way around
