  1. Today
  2. Thanks! You only need to fix "on this day". It seems to be stuck on the day you shut it down.
  3. Chinese Zhang Zhizhen was his opponent and Stefanos won in straight sets: 6-3, 6-3 and 6-1. Next opponent Matteo Arnaldi from Italy.
  4. Yes it's for the 2023-24 season as the Dutchman points out, which determines the teams for the 2025-2026 European season, and thanks to Olympiakos winning ECL we get 5 teams (2 CL, 1 EL, 2 ECL).
  5. Real Madrid winning CL basically means that Shakhtar Donetsk moves to the league stage and unseeded Ferencvaros moves to the seeded side and we avoid being drawn against them in the play off round. Don't really see what kind of advantage we gain. We should really worry about making it to the playoff round first before worrying about our opponents there.
  6. The 13 mil infusion into the operating budget of PAE PAOK is not for this past season. It's for the previous season, where we failed to eliminate Levski Sofia. That was a financial disaster with big losses. As for selling players, apparently the Konstantelias side (agents, family) are pushing for the transfer to happen, however PAOK is demanding minimum of 20 mil. I would hold off on selling him. Increase his salary from 500K to 1.3 mil (same as Zivkovic) and let him at least play one more season with us. If we qualify to the league stage of CL that would be a good showcase for the player. If we get control of EPO through Gagatsis we can install a NT coach that will be friendly to Konstantelias giving him starting spot in the lineup. That will be more exposure for him. That can only drive the price for the player up. Of course keeping him on we also run the risk of a serious injury, which would have the opposite effect. I still believe that we will make at least one player sale, but I don't think it will be Konstantelias.
  7. Kougias is an ambulance chaser and he will suck up to anybody that will pay him. That's why he jumps from team to team. Him and Beos are the biggest clowns in Greek football. There are definitively alliances in Greek football, but they change constantly depending on the circumstances. In 2017 we cooperated with AEK in order to take away the control of EPO from Olympiakos. It appears now PAOK and AEK will not cooperate in the upcoming EPO president elections, where we are pushing our VP Gagatsis to run in the elections.
  8. Kougias is one of the funniest people in sports. Blackhawk has some saying about him, I think? That he's a clown or something? Accurate, whatever it was. I truly cannot pin down what he (Kougias) actually believes. I will say, though, that there's absolutely no reason why Olympiakos, AEK, and Panathinaikos should like each other. They should be at each other's throats, just as we are with Aris. And whatever shady team takes up the Iraklis mantle, one day. This is only natural.
  9. Yes, but if you pay him 1 million more, EVERYONE else is going to ask for a raise as well. Next thing you know, your budget is increasing by 10-15 million. We can not afford that.
  10. I don't think PAO is with AEK. At least I haven't gotten that impression. There is definitely animosity between Olympiacos and AEK but I am not sure what's triggered it. When you have Kougias saying he hopes PAOK wins the title because we at least are a "kathari omada" you know you really are in wonderland. Essentially Kougias is saying the AEK has an alliance with Aris and Lamia but I don't buy it. Well Lamia maybe but if there was an alliance with Aris then why did Aris make it 3-3 in the final minutes of their game recently? Just doesn't add up. https://www.newsit.gr/athlitika/aleksis-kougias-as-parei-to-protathlima-mia-kathari-omada-opos-o-paok-kai-oxi-i-aek-pou-paizei-filika/4081289/
  11. They've done so poorly in Europe in the last decade that they're always in the weaker group. I noticed there is a chance they could play with Ajax - nasty. That's how it goes - they're going to have to fight for the next 3, 4 or 5 seasons unfortunately to bring up the rating.
  12. Ela re paidia. It's not the old days where we had financial problems and when we sold players we pulled our pants down and handed the buying club the vaseline as well. Please sir can I have some more. We don't need to sell so just don't. Offer the kid 1 million or a bit more - he deserves it. And hold out for a decent number. It's not like we're stopping him from going to the EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga or even Serie A. It's the f**king Austrian league which is basically on par with our own league.
  13. No this is up and till this season (2023/2024) that finishes tomorrow and where we started with 5 teams. So this is correct.
  14. This is kind of interesting - we gain a place in the seedings if Real Madrid wins: https://inpaok.com/823343/to-endiaferon-tou-paok-gia-ton-teliko-tou-champions-league/ I should also note that @Dutch Eagle's favorite site says there are five Greek teams in UEFA competitions this summer, which I do not think is accurate? https://kassiesa.net/uefa/data/method5/crank2024.html
  15. How so? Because Olympiakos dared to beat AEK?
  16. I feel like there are new alliances in Greek football which is crazy. Paok & Olympiakos AEK & Panathinaikos Aris & No one
  17. That is correct my bald Bostonian friend. If we turn down a 15 million offer, and prevent him from making 1.5 mil per year he could become disgruntled. That would do no service to anyone. If he wants to go to Austria and we can make 15+ (due to % sales), allow him.
  18. I think that even if 15 million seems "meh," that we're still very far from being able to command that kind of price from other leagues. Would love to be proven wrong, but we aren't Benfica. Also: it is rather telling that there have been no rumors for teams other than Leipzig's B team being interested in him. Anyway, Besiktas strikes back: And I guess now Cagliari is interested in Lucescu (😭) https://www.sport24.gr/football/loytseskoy-i-kaliari-echei-sto-stochastro-to-roymano-techniko-toy-paok-symfona-me-tin-corriere-dello-sport.10325498.html
  19. Great context for subsequent seasons. I just have so little hope that the other teams will contribute hahaha
  20. As pash said, it doesn't help or alter anything for the coming seasons (24-25) European places, they are set. But their win means Greece moves to 15th place in the rankings and for the European season 25-26 we will have 5 teams in Europe. Top 2 will play Champions League qualifiers, 3rd and 4th Conference League qualifying and the cup winner will play in the Europa League qualifiers. Now this also happened in 2022 when we made the Conference League quarters, Greece ended up ranked 15th and with 2 teams in Champions League qualifying earlier this season (AEK and PAO) but we obviously slid back down the rankings and that's why next season there is only one team in the Champions League. Thankfully that's us. So hopefully Greek teams (not just us and Olympicos) can go on with this and have runs in Europe and continue to push the nation up the rankings and we can hold onto the 2 UCL spots as well as gain ground in the qualifying rounds and maybe even add an extra European ticket. Because when you look at the country coefficient, on paper there is really no reason we couldn't be ranked around 10th. Currently Norway, Austria, Switzerland, Scotland and the Czech Republic leagues rank ahead of ours. With the big 4 teams in the shape they are currently in, there is no reason we can't push past these countries in the next few years and end up with much better European tickets than we currently have. https://www.uefa.com/nationalassociations/uefarankings/country/?year=2024
  21. That is a great question. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it helps, apart from giving Olympiakos an advantageous entry into the EL. Right now, it looks like: PAOK - 2nd Qualifying Round for Champions League Olympiakos - direct qualification to League Phase for Europa League (for winning the Conference League) Panathinaikos - 2nd Qualifying Round for Europa League AEK - 2nd Qualifying Round for Conference League Had Olympiakos not won, they would have been in the Conference League, in the same qualifying round AEK is in. Instead, Greece's berth for that position is vacated. My guess is that Panathinaikos will fail to make it to the EL (there are some very good teams in there, and they are characteristically unseeded). If we screw up, we might join them in the Conference League.

  23. I think we should be concentrating on not selling anyone ... where possible ... given that we realistically have our best chance ever at qualifying for the Champions League. In previous seasons we had the more difficult path playing stronger teams. By winning the title we at least give ourselves a better chance. Bringing in new players is not the problem per se. It's if these players are replacements for *starting 11* players. If for example, Kotarski, Koulierakis, Konstantelias are sold and let's say Meite isn't bought, then that's 4 starting 11 players that must be replaced for the qualifiers. That's not exactly a recipe for winning, especially given how long Lucescu takes to acclimatise players to have the right men-ta-li-ty as I love to hear him say. As for the 15 million for Konstantelias, I don't know, it seems a bit meh. These days 15 million is nothing special at all. Go look at the transfer history of mid table French or Italian teams and they spend that and more on players like it's nothing. At the very least we should be holding on to the players we have for the first qualifier. That game is KEY. We win, we are guaranteed Conference League football. We lose ... I don't even want to think about it.
  24. Firstly, congratulations to Olympiacos (ducks head while the crowd throws food at me) on winning the UEFA Conference League. A historic achievement for Olympiacos and for Greek football. What are the implications for the number teams in Europe next season? Does this mean O Aris gets a spot? Wouldn't that be funny ...
  25. We're kind of at the point where 13 million is probably not making a big dent - I don't think that even covers wages for a year. However, there's another possibility - if financial fair play essentially caps any yearly inflows by ownership, but does not cap aggregate inflows across years (I'm not sure if this is the case), then he could be just contributing the max he can each year, regardless of how much the team actually needs. That would build up the team's cash position for any future uses. Just a thought, though. Also, to circle back on PaokCT's post - if we get a handful of rotational players and then four starter level dudes, we could be seeing some significant outflows. And if we get ~15mm for Konstantelias, and manage to sign that Russian dude as his replacement (as a free agent), then we will be in a fantastic position to spend elsewhere.
  26. Sheez, apparently we are still not financially self sufficient. The article states the sum total of funds invested by Ivan Savvidis is 194 million. Not enough I tells ya, not enough. Leave now! Oust.
