brave
Samp close on Greek swoop Tuesday, 06 July 2004 by Lorenzo Zacchetti Sampdoria director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed to skysports.com that the Serie A outfit will seal a move for Greek star Kostas Katsouranis if the price is right. The AEK Athens midfielder has been a long-term target for the club and Marotta believes a deal for Katsouranis could soon be penned, if the two clubs can agree a fee. ''Sampdoria have been scouting the Greek market long before the national side won the European Championship,'' Marotta told skysports.com. ''But, of course, their performance at Euro 2004 increases the interest that other clubs have in their main players. ''We are still working on this possibility and if the conditions are right, we will seal the deal, otherwise not. ''The success of Greece at the European Championship must be a lesson for football clubs - you don't have to necessarily spend a lot of money to get great results.'' brave
Samp target Greek duo Tuesday 6 July, 2004 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sampdoria are expected to sign two Greek stars who played a part in their European Championship success. That is according to agent Stefano Antonelli who claims that Konstantinos Katsouranis and Theodoros Zagorakis are on their way to Serie A. "I think that Katsouranis will go there and captain Zagorakis will soon follow him to Samp," he stated. The two midfielders are currently at AEK Athens but are set to leave after impressing in Portugal, especially Zagorakis who was named as Player of the Tournament. Antonelli also rejected reports that Greece striker Zisis Vryzas was set to leave Fiorentina for Chievo. "He has a contract for two years with a good and healthy club such as Fiorentina," he added. Chievo also rubbished the stories. "There is no truth in them at all," said sporting director Giovanni Sartori. "We are trying to sell strikers right now not buy them." werent panathinaikos meant to be interested in him??

Vasili0s
it is OFFICIAL , Aek has even made a statement on their site thanking Kostaki (yea, better thank him alright) 3 years and double what he made in wages. Rather sad to see him stay in Greece, but hey, at least aek will have a solid player left on her squad. Now Santos and Demis are trying to chase down Gammarra, interesting to see what happens... Knowing the financial problems of the club, Katsouranis could have asked for his freedom and demanded the money owed to him. But he chose to stay, although he attracted the interest of many foreign clubs. AEK would like to thank him for his decision and we promise that we will not stand in his way in the event of any offer from abroad that will give him the opportunity to further his career "
