acouple things...

ivanscitz is staying another year..he wants to stay more it seems...great move from us i believe..he is a player we can defeinitly use and will develop even better and better...

viktor has beeen rumored to move from pao even though there have been conflicting reports...we havent really seen him perform as he has been plagued with injuries though ...ninis semms to have the right side covered but we will see..victor is getting too much money to sit the bench ...if he was on a smaller contract id say keep him but as of nw, he is a waste of money..

babic seems close to pao..we checked him out last night and he has openly admitted his desire to play for pao..pick him up definitly..he is at a prime age and has been a good performer for croatia and leverkusen..i think he would be a quality pick up as we are lacking defensively and he can help us out there and also has the capabilities of advancing offensively..i think him and ivanscitz would make a great partnership on that left side..normally i wouldnt want these croats anymore on our team but he is a quality player and i dont really care where he is from...

if we pick babic up i see seric making a deserved exit from the team...he has not been very good since he has been here and i think it is best if he moves on to another club...

vyntra has also been rumored to leave and it is sure that andric and biscan will definitly get the boot..i also see tsigas and haralabidis possibly leaving the club either on loan or for some money..gkekas will surely be gone as well so mb we can pocket some cash for his transfer...

salpiggidis is rumored to be on mark hughes wish list from blackburn..i dont think pao will let him go quite yet..

apprently we have also sent scouts to various clubs in france, italy, germany and england..

i try not to take too much fact in news reports but we will see in the near future what is to be done...

Thanks for the summary Pao123. It will be an interesting transfer season. The team has a good base of players and if we retain Munoz and bring two or three key starters we will have a good team next season.

A couple of observations from my end:

Victor: Many reports indicate that Victor is on his way out and that he makes a lot of money. What I know however indicates that Victor makes 700K per year and that he has a 3 year contract. I don't think that's too expensive. From what I've seen, when he played he showed some passion and he seemed to care for the team. I don't see why we would not want him to stay. If he can stay healthy I think he can help.

Biscan and Andric and Theodoridis (I think) have expiring contracts. Biscan and Andric will depart for sure, and personally I think a change of teams might be good for Theodoridis who has not shown much in his time with PAO.

As for Vintra, despite his numerous boneheaded plays I don't think he will be released. I like the guy, if nothing else for the fact that despite what he hears from the fans every game, he puts his head down and plays without ever saying or implying anything bad about the team. He has some speed, he is very strong and I still think that with some work he can be a very good RB. I am not sure if he can be a starter next year, but I would not be upset if he stayed with the team. Besides Goumas, he is the only one on our team who would attempt a successful sliding tackle if you ever noticed (well, Seric and Darlas attempt too, but in their case they never connect with the ball).

Charalabidis' contract expires in December and in a recent interview he indicated he would like to stay. That's another player I would not mind giving a chance for another year as a backup to see if he can content for a starting position. I think he has a lot of talent and could help the team with a little more work.

I don't see Salpigidis going anywhere for a long time. The guy is one of the biggest talents of Greece and he will be a major contributor for years to come. With another striker to take off some of the pressure and a slightly different formation than the one we've been sporting in the last few months he will be lethal.

i take it that useless Antonnson will be shown the door as well

true..i forgot about antonnson...i think he said he would stay if there was a coaching change and he felt he might get some time..i think despite what he says he should get the boot..he is not of enough quality to play for pao and is too injury prone..

we are back in the running for 26 year old Leque who lays for celta vigo..he is a good defender despite celta being very poor this season..he will be a good upgrade from antonsson...

romero is also inked with an exit from the team...i think this would be a good move..i respect the guy because he tries very hard but i dont think he can cut it for us..

  • 2 weeks later...

If they are cheap, young and Greek keep them...

Unfortunately none of our big hopefuls have been impressive.

At least they try hard, and raise in value.

From the foreigners, very few are worth their $$$.

Ivan, Morris, healthy Gonzo and Victor are the only ones.

Send ALL the Croats home. Nilsson, Bovio are debatable, for less $$$, or if better options are unavailable.

Does anyone need more proof of the incompetence of PAO ownership?

Gekas is the newest ex-PAO player that will bring in more cash to his current foreign team, than PAO ever made from his sale...

Bochum will receive a reported 3 mil euros, while PAO... 700K, for Gekas' move to Leverkusen.

Porto made a bundle selling Seitaridis to Dynamo, PAO made S...t.

Kyrgiakos was thrown away to Rangers by PAO, but the Scots got themselves some good $$$ selling him to Frankfurt...

Same may happen with Karagounis, or even Basinas.

PEACE

Pao gets even more if Bochum drops division. Leverkusen will then negotiate with Pao.

No he wont get more money.

Gkekas has an tranfervalue set in his contract of 1000000 euros.

He was lent to Bochum for 300 000 and in case he stays at bochum the team has to pay another 700 000 to get to the above mentioned million.

If Bochum droped in second division then Gekas would be sold for that same milion to Leverkusen. The only benefit would be the 300 000 that PAO got from Bochum for the past season. For Leverkusen it would be preferable that Bochum droped in second division cause they would buy him for much less money than they now have to pay.

Maybe someone can clarify for me.

How can Bochum sell a player they don't own?

I was under the impression that Pao owns the rights to Gekas. He was playing for Bochum on loan with the agreement that if Bochum wanted to keep him they would pay 700k to Pao.

If Bochum was relegated, Gekas would return to PAO (I know he doesn't want to, but he still has a contract).

It seems to me that the only team that can sell Gekas is PAO, unless Bochum can buy him for 700K and PAO has no say in the matter.

Does anyone know?

Thats exactly how it is. Bochum is saved as far as i can tell from falling to second division. Since she doesnt fall Bochum is the only one that can buy Gekas from Pao cause of the option they have. And since tthey only have to pay 700 000 for him they would be mad not to do so. As you see they wont even keep him and will get a hell of a money for him. I dont understand what thing is unclear to you. PAO has no say in this since he gets the money that he and Bochum wrote down in their lenting agreement.

I just read former Ergotelis Ogunsoto in Belgium is the league leading scorer with 19 goals...great season.......we all remember he was great and can adapt to the Greek league, i think we should definitly go for him before Anderlecht or Brugge takes him...

Thanks for your reply tsoglani.

I don't understand how the team that holds a player's rights has no say in the matter. I did not hear that Bochum bought the player from PAO yet. I guess we will know more later today.

If Bochum pays 700k for his rights, then PAO will have made 1million from the sale of Gekas. In retrospect everyone seems to think we could have made more, but out of the 3 million paid for Gekas we make 1m and Bochum makes 2m. It seems like a good deal to me.

I agree with everyone that our team has serious problems recognizing talent (fans included). He played his best for us but he never got the respect he deserved.

Good luck to Gekas.

I'm sort of torn regarding this. PAO and all Greek teams don't have "it"...

The problem is systemic, and unless the system changes all teams will be mediocre at best. So, good players should go abroad to play. Look at the Gekas case (one of many). This guy learns from the media that he's being traded to PAOK.... He's our top scorer at the time, at least give him some respect and ask, negotiate, appreciate!

The situation is so bad, that the most important thing is NOT the transfers but how the club (the whole system) operates. As long as we have the usual idiots making the decisions--and we can't change this--I, for one, can't take this too seriously. As a matter of fact, I feel liberated! For the last month or more, I find better things to do with my Sundays than listen/watch Greek football.

I feel the same way Athinaie, Liberated :D

I still follow the team, but I don't agonize over it any more. It goes beyond our team, its the whole superleague.

Horrible play by every single team, violence, murders, atrocious refereeing, erratic rule enforcement by judges, amateur owners, talent bleeding...

Maybe next year will be better, but I am not holding my breath.

What do you think about Martin Miezel? He is a header, well-built who fights a lot, good sense of scoring and affordable too. I mean if we don't go for some hot-shot player,

this wouldn't be a bad option from the greek market.

lol ti les re?:P

meicel would be a short term replacement to a long term problem...we have been in desperate need of a goaltzi since warzycha..salpi has had a pretty good season but i think he can do much better...manztios is not developing into the player we want him to and papa has been very out of form this year..i dont want meicel but i think we may need another striker..i also would like to see tsiags getting more time when he returns from injury next season...

im done with the gkekas talk...what is done is done and there is nothing that can be done..it may have been a bad judgment call but it may also have not been...gkekas was becoming stale in greece and needed to move somewhere else...im glad to see he is prospering in germany...i would have liked to see alittle more cash from his transfer, but it is ok...

as far as other transfers..he need acouple defenders, a defesive midfielder and a striker...dont forget about gonzalez either..when he comes back hopefully it will be like we are acquiring a new player...i hope he can come back strong and help the team..i could see a nini, ivansitchz, gonzalez midfield being extremely productive as long as we sign a denfesive midfielder that can clean up in the midfield..victor coming back from injury could be helpful to us too as lng as he stays healthy...

for sure we need afew defenders..a central defender and a wing back..morris must stay, goumas is getting old..vyntra is not capable of starting and nilson has been looking alittle better and better..what happend to darlas??

i see kotsios, biscan, romero andric and antonsson all righfully being released by the team..so we are gunna need some good transfers to replace them and strengthen our 11 and bench..
