  1. If Ozdoyev isn't allowed into the country (crazy typing that), then we become even thinner than we currently are in midfield. Clearly Schwab will start and Tsiggaras will have to play through gritted teeth. Probably means Giaxis will get a run off the bench too.
  2. Looks like Samata's scans were clear and he has escaped without doing anything serious. He will be monitored day-to-day and is a chance to be fit against Hearts this week. Even if he misses the first leg, massive relief that he hasn't suffered a long term injury.
  3. Nevermind, he's failed his medical and now the move looks to be in doubt.
  4. Looks like he's on his way back to the Premier League to join West Ham.
  5. Was heavily linked to Trabzonspor to join Bakasetas and Kourbelis. Last I heard he was travelling to Turkey, that was last week sometime but no announcement since.
  6. He joins Goutas at Cardiff City and will play in the Championship after signing a 3-year contract. https://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/news/manolis-siopis-bluebird
  7. Wow no Lyratzis in the squad despite Sastre not being deemed fit enough to travel to Croatia. Writing on the wall for Lyratzis? Unless we have a few injuries at right-back, looks like it'll be tough for him to find his way back into the team. EDIT: Just realising that maybe Lyratzis is the one who's been dropped from the European list to make way for Ozdoev? Either he or Nasberg potentially given they are the ones left out. Unless they've replaced Augusto, knowing that the deal is just about done. If it was Lyratzis who was left out, maybe not so doom and gloom for his short term future at the club.
  8. Give us the winner of Celije-Grodno or Rosenborg-Hearts please. Honestly being seeded really gives no massive advantage it seems, there are some tricky potential ties in there. We always seem to get put in a tough mini-pot. Anyway Hajduk first before we worry about the next round I suppose.
  9. He was in today's training video, you can see him in the drill at 57 seconds. Guess the sale isn't official yet, despite Ozdoyev arriving in Thessaloniki last night.
  10. TBH I have never seen anything that gets me excited about either Michalidis or Koulierakis for that matter. Now Koulierakis is only 19, so he has a lot of development in him and it's not easy to play consistent senior football at 18-19 as he did last season. He can and may well improve into a quality player, he has some good tools that he is developing. Michalidis at 23, I think we can a bit more of a judgement on. Yes he missed a whole season with the ACL injury but as NB points out, pre-injury I too thought he was average. Not overly pacey or a good reader of the play, would dive in and make challenges when there is no need, giving away silly fouls and picking up unnecessary cards. The one thing he has going for him is his passing ability as a defender, he's more than capable of playing a 40-50 yard ball to a teammate. I hope he proves me wrong this year, but I don't see Michalidis ever being nailed on starter for PAOK.
  11. Tzolis on his way to Fortuna Dusseldorf in Germany's 2nd tier for this season. Agreement is a one-year loan with an obligation to buy if they seal promotion to the Bundesliga. The buy-out clause sits at 6milion Euros, reportedly. Germany should've been his first move when leaving PAOK, but he chose the bright lights of the Premier League which has traditionally been tough for Greek players to acclimatize to especially at such a young age. Hopefully his development hasn't been stunted by the previous 2 years and he can continue to grow and become the player he is capable of being.
  12. I disagree Lucsecu is a good coach if he has the team that he wants, he is a proven performer. In his 2 seasons back at the helm, he's had us in a tittle race (within 5-7 points) in the playoffs when we had no right to be. The team ultimately fell away due to lack of depth. He's guided us 2 Cup finals (yes last years final was an awful display) and let's not forget guided us to the quarter finals of a European competition. He's been asking for a dekari since 2021, the board/Savvidis hasn't signed him one. Only once Konstantelias arrived as a player and the signing of a 35-year-old Taison was that issue addressed. A whole 18 months since Lucescu first arrived. The team has been aging and has been in need of a revamp for a while. The signings we make have been hit and miss, the good ones (Narey, Kotarski) are out weighed by poor ones Nasberg, Qualigata, Kargas, Andre Ricardo, Filpe Soares (for the 3 million that was played he hasn't showed enough). Add to that the average ones: Thomas, Sastre, Kedziora, who aren't bad players but really should only be depth, they are okay/average players. Instead these guys are starters. The further layer is that AEK, and to a lesser extent PAO are splashing $ for signings which has improved their level considerably. Those teams have depth, in just about every position. We do not have the same quality. So for me the board and Savvidis hasn't helped Lucescu, so not sure turning over the manager will yield greatly different results. In fact I would say it would get worse, before it got better.
  13. Would be a good addition to our midfield. Realistically though with the landscape in Greek football, someone who played for Aris and Olympiakos would never come to PAOK. Add to that the fact that he's reportedly currently on over 1 million Euros, can't see any Greek team paying him that sort of money to tempt him to walk away from his current deal.
  14. Pick out the one time we had an okay draw, despite yourself mentioning we had to come through Benfica and Besiktas before that to get to Krasnador. Who that season was a top 3 Russian team, not like we 'blew it' to Shamrock Rovers. Regardless atm we are a long way from the bright lights of the Champions League, and face a couple of tricky ties to get the Conference League group stage.
  15. FFS we really are cursed when it comes to European draws. By far the hardest possible opponent in our pot. We will also cross paths with Marko Livaja (formerly of AEK) who has ridiculously good scoring record since moving back to Croatia. But of course as Athens points out, it won't matter unless we find a way to get past Beitar. One game at a time, but I am cursing our luck.
  16. Rumours continue to surface about Narey and his agents pushing for a move. Remains to be seen whether he legit wants to move on, or if it's just some negotiating tactics to get us to give him a fatter pay cheque. Would be a blow if he were to leave and would leave us scrambling to replace another starter.
  17. I remember Baba as being a solid player. Not sure there is an obvious starter between he and Rafa. I think it gives us a good depth at left-back, even though we are still crying out for a striker.
  18. Goutas moves from Turkey to England to play for Cardiff City in the Championship! He signed a 2 year deal until 2025. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/66108253
  19. Wouldn't be ideal to lose Kortarski after one season, very impressed with his season. I suppose if an offer comes in of 10+ Million you don't really have a choice, but I don't think after one season in Greece without playing in Europe the offers would be around that. More likely in the 5-7 mil range, in which case I say no thanks. Hang onto him for another season, he'll no doubt continue to perform and if we manage to qualify for Europe and plays well on that stage his price will continue to rise.
  20. I read the articles on the PAOK sites which had a screenshot of the Romano tweet/post linking us to him. But scrolling through his twitter and FB page there is no sign of such post/tweet. Has it been taken down? Or is it possible these PAOK sites are pumping out some propaganda to keep the wolves at bay for a few days longer?
  21. Mixed reports on Ingason wanting to go or not. You can imagine if he does indeed want to move on then it will happen. @pash while I would normally agree with you in rolling my eyes at the conspiracy theories, there is definitely something up with the management of the team. All the messaging coming out was PAOK would have a striker signed and delivered by the time they go to Holland, no movement there and the team departs in 4 or so days. I am not sure what is actually happening, all reports are mixed and now the fans are getting really restless. And that is not just because of this year but the last few years of what they consider inadequate signings. Now fans are fans and they will complain, but as we know it can build pressure. Especially in Greece where it can manifest in toxic ways.
  22. Reports saying Poyet has decided on 8-9 of the starting XI, no massive surprises. -----------Vlachodimos----- Baldock--Mavropanos--Chatzidiakos--Tsimikas ------Mantalos------Siopis-----Bakasetas Masouras-----Giakoumakis----Pelkas Kourbelis is being considered in place of either Siopis or Mantalos as is Pavlidis to lead the line. I read Konstantelias is also being considered to take one of the wingers spots but I doubt he would get a start. 14,000 tickets have been sold for the game, it means there will be a solid crowd there to cheer the boys on. Hopefully it ends up being 20,000+ and the atmosphere is electric!
  23. Gabbiadini's name has resurfaced again, an Italian journalist linking us to him. On paper Gabbiadini or Diagne would be good signings, both experienced and have played in much stronger leagues. Without having watched either player beyond the odd match here and there, plus looking at their stats Diagne appears to be the better finisher with a better goal scoring record. It would lead us to assume that Gabbiadini is more of a modern striker in terms of being involved in build up and getting his teammates involved. Jozy Altidore appears a step down from those two.
  24. After all that Douvikas has been called-up to replace the Ioannidis, who injured his hip at training.
Confirmation of the official call ups and more or less the same to call-ups from March. Poyet seems set on a group of players, I do question what someone like Retsos offers he had a poor season for Olympiakos. The only thing I can think of is that he gives some flexibility being able to play at right back and CB. Clearly Nikolaou isn't rated by Poyet for one reason or another. Douvikas would be feeling hard done by, he can't do much more to get a call-up. Again it comes down to Poyet having the core of his squad set and it is obvious he's trying to build club like chemistry but at the same time to not reward a top scorer of a top 8 European league is equally as dangerous. Bakasetas is fine and trained fully, so he will be available for both games.
