we lost to costa rica in pk's 0-0. they lost to netherlands pk's 0-0. they lost to argentina 0-0 pk's. pk's are very fluke imagine in a parallel universe we landed ourselves in the final. that's sort of like what happened in the euro.
-
we had a good chance against the dutch too. costa rica netherlands was also 0-0 free kicks. we also beat the dutch 2-1 in a friendly a year or two after.
-
yeah we basically got Navas his job at Real Madrid that game lol

none of our younger strikers look that promising to me nothing compared to 2013 Mitroglou or Bundesliga top scorer Gekas, or Champions League Celtic Samaras

the problem with Greece is we underachieve with easy groups and overachieve with hard groups but our overachievement is not enough to top the group. eg) vs. belgium we nearly beat them two of the times but still their quality saw them to the top whereas we got pumped by finland first game... we need to not adjust our game plan it seems for the weaker teams. still have a defense first mentality. we're not barca

yes good point. We struggle winning game that we should win. 80% possession and 24 attempts. We lack finishing. We need fast wingers to counter Donis & Fetfa... Mitroglou as a target man. We should play 3 cb's since it's our strength and the less the opponent scores the more likely we can win. Manolas Sokratis Retsos Manolas and Siovas are all acceptable starters at cb. we need both Donis and Mitro healthy. It's very rare both these dudes have been healthy and I think that's a huge reason why we struggled. Mitro Donis Fortounis Fetfa/Laz zeca/samaris holebas/staf siov sok man toro/bakakis/retsos odyseeas our weak spot is clearly cdm/cm positions. galanopoulos and samaris in form could be good. zeca is a work horse but has poor technical ability. our second weak spot is the wings. donis is always favoured when healthy which is good but fetfa/lazaros not starting in favour of mantalos/bakasetas on the wing is wrong. strangely mantalos and bakasetas do okay on the wings for AEK but maybe that's cause superleague sucks. Masouras looks good on the wing though and I think wouldn't look too shabby for NT. He has good pace, through balls, and tenacity to score too.
-
that's because masouras is actually playing in his position. was watching a highlight reel of him and he's been lighting up the big 4 past 2 seasons. Don't think he should be a starter but he adds much needed depth to the wings. Donis and Lazaros should be our wings. Fetfa and Masouras reserves.

ela thelo England, Germany, Turkey, FYROM, isos ksipnousoume everyone knows we're underachieving.
-
Samaris yes when in form is our best CM/CDM. Sucks he hasn't been a start in some time.

Mitroglou is our best striker by far. Karelis is decent but he's made of glass and toss up whether he plays a season or not. Also he's more of ss than pure striker from what I've seen. He always plays with a partner at club level. Not playing proper wingers is what hurts us. Should be Donis on the left Lazaros on the right for 60 mins and Fetfa for the last 30 mins. Besides that we're very slim on the wings department. Chatzigiovannis looks promising though and Masouras too.

2 up front koulouris and mitro and just crossing like it's going outta style might be the formula then beef up defense with 3atb. might be our strengths. similar to how we played in the euro. we don't have much in the middle besides fortounis which is in attacking third and very rarely can get involved because our cm's can't connect a penetrating pass. it's all wing play. let's stop trying to be something we are not and play to our dna. 2 strikers. lotsa crosses. 3 cb's. we got the cb's for it. sokratis, manolas, kpaps, siovas, retsos are all great choices.
-
ideally we start donis on the left and lazaros on the right. then fetfa to sub off lazaros since he's gassed. masouras also looks impressive and has scored goals against the big 4 in on season as a winger. let's play players in their natural position. being a good player is largely a matter of instinct. if they spend years domisticating themselves at a certain part of the pitch it's way too hard to just play a different position for such make/break games. I would rather have a low level winger like Gianniotas playing his natural position than Stafylidis as a lw. After seeing what we saw past 2 years.

Mitroglou Donis Fortounis Lazaros/Fetfa Zeca Holebas Torosidis siovas manolas sokratis Odysseas 5-1-3-1 Might work we concede the midifleld since our options there sucks and we do anyways. make up for it with a beefed up defense which is our strength and rely almost exclusively for wings. just an idea not sure if it would work in practice. seems we play when we play in form players though and in their natural positions.

today we were the better team and if we played the way we played today whole campaign we'd probably be top of the group. sucks that we are out but most of us didn't think we'd do it. it was a long shot. it was more to see a glimpse of ange's tactics. It's an improvement. he just needs to up the wing play and i'm confident he will since he already improved the squad with vlacho and siovas in his first game. koutris looked great out there too was impressed we have some nice depth at lb. would be great to get holebas back for one last campaign dude is on fiiiiire this season one of the best LB's in PL
