  1. yeah he'd never work in England. Spain he can do 'okay'. I think he would be perfect for Serie A
  2. yeha I made like a million mistakes on my reply i ment messi * lol my brain links suarez - messi - neymar together so much that I brain farted lol
  3. Specifically Strikers* i said. at least 5 of those are wingers eg) Neymar, Messi. Another 5 of those you could argue very similar level. But yeah, looking more critically, you're probably right. There's a shitload of people at a slightly higher level then Mitro. Dzeko in general is probably a bit better then Mitro these days. But an in form Mitro is lethal.
  4. My logic sided with Anderlecht to win in a close 2 games. I was correct. Olympiakos WILL get better at europa league, just like how they are pretty decent at champions league. We all remember the years that Oly would choke in CL. Same situation in Europa, just need some time to get their swagger. Also this game was really decided on 4-5 lucky inches for anderlecht. Oly could've scored 4-5.
  5. I wouldn't mind still having him up top with Mitroglou. Novakovic is 36 and still automatic starter for Slovenia. We looked very menacing with Mitro and Gekas together vs. Costa Rica. Eventually probably phase in Velios or Klaus. also just realized he's playing with Cypriot national Christofi. He's very solid from what I've seen. Great winger, massive pace, which Greece desperately needs.
  6. Good decision on him. Greece already has Mitroglou, Klaus, Velios. (CF's Kone, & Karelis too). It seems his goal was to be a starter for Greece via Asteras. For Australia IMO, pretty much a key starter and is now tailoring his career for Australia via Chinese club football. Smart move. It's obvious his heart was with Greece because that was his first move, but he's gotta go with what's best for his career and where he can contribute the most value!
  7. If leicester wins the league, I can see Vardy and Mahrez staying. Mitroglou imo is one of the best strikers in the world, top 30 modestly. He's not good at counter-attacking football though, he runs like a papou. He plays best with a really creative type, eg) Benfica Jonas & Olympiakos Dominguez.
  8. I'd rate him level to Maniatis. (I'm a fan of Maniatis tbh) Samaris, Tachtsidis, Maniatis are as good as him, or better at the position. Petsos will probably be as good as Tachtsidis if all goes according to plan.
  9. You're correct Makynia imo. He was our best player during our best world cup campaign of all time. Completely unappreciated. I think he had some great offers, but he wanted to go to Arabia for a stint. The pace of modern football is so fast that most managers nowadays don't look past 6months-year. So all that form is worth zero to them now. Depending on the player, 30 is not old. Samaras at 30, could very well have 5 more years in him. Would Samaras & Mitroglou ever be a good combo? I can't recall them ever making a combo together, but it seems like a good fit!
  10. yeah I think Karelis should be starting right now gia thn ethiniki
  11. everyone plays regularly except Holebas & Tachtsidis and they're still the best men for the job imo. Arda Turan barely plays for Barcelona, he's still a lock to start for Turkey.
  12. the only position truly up for grabs is high up the pitch as a CAM/ Second Striker iMO Defense is in lock. Hard to argue leaving Samaris, Fortounis, Mitroglou, Tachtsidis out. keep it to karnezis holebas sokratis kpaps manolas torosidis taxi samaris fortounis mitroglou hard to argue leaving any of the above out. it's just that 11th spot Kone is probably the guy for the job, but it's a competitive last spot. You could make a good argument for Karelis too.
  13. he needs a midfielder of equal or slightly higher class than him to thrive. he gets sluggish when the midfield lags behind him. Our best hopes is that Fortounis grows at an exponential rate to meet Mitroglous current form. Olympiakos is doing all they really can to make that happen, basically starting every game, veteran in chori, etc. hopefully the trainers / nutritional regimee is good. I suspect that's where Oly lags behind but I'm only speculating
  14. He looks out of shape. I think he'll be significantly less good then the player he was when we won the double. Would love to be proven wrong, he played great for PAO before.
  15. Mitroglou Kone Fortounis Tachtsidis Samaris Holebas Torosidis Manolas Sokratis Karnezis Most Valuable Subs KPaps Karelis Ninis * Kone as a second striker to replicate Jonas for the ethiniki. Players to watch Petsos Velios Mantalos
  16. he's dodgy at times the few times I've seen him. My gut goes more with Velios. I'm a Mitroglou fan boy through & through though lol. willingly admit.
  17. great point. Kone & Samaris had to step it up big time now. They are essentially assuming the roles of Karagounis & Katsouranis. The greatest mid-field combo of all time for Greek football. Samaris is starting to look amazing though. Games against Luxenbourg & Turkey he was a maestro. Hopefully Kone can ignite at Fiorintina.
  18. I'm really missing him at PAO. He was a KEY player. Thought he would stay a few years in his prime at least.
  19. lol Gekas must have a really talented agent, some really creative moves. a mid-tabled Swiss team?
  20. woah Fiorentina? that's a big team, consistent top 5. if he can become a starter there, that would be huge. obviously a lock in 11 for ethiniki if that happens
  21. yeah didn't think of that. The Russian & French league have steady quality throughout the teams. Portugal is top heavy. Probably because smaller country / population, much like Greece.
  22. I think Torosidis looks great & not sleazy at all. Hair loss is also a sign of high testosterone. He's a lot higher quality then the next best RB our NT has to offer IMO. After World Cup perhaps using Sokratis there would be wise...
  23. so why does any quality player go to the A-league?
  24. Muscular discomfort probably won't keep him out long. I think he is adjusting his game. Much like Rooney, who would literally run into sliding tackles had to learn to adjust his game. Kpaps has to take the long-term approach, which will be difficult for him because part of what makes him a great player is his aggression. He has to channel it to safer technique. Dude plays like an American Football player, there's a reason why they retire so early + a lot of them have F***ed up ligaments / head trauma etc.
