  1. Reports are that the people at PAOK are upset by Vellidis and Klaus being snubbed.  These guys really need to stop their whining.  They're starting to look like clowns.

Agree. I want PAOK to come out and  say no more PAOK players on the NT until the whole thing called Greek soccer is fixed and the games are played fairly.

  2. Have they said when a decision will be made in regards to what happened at the kypello? Seems like they are dragging it on so they can deduct points so PAOK can miss the playoffs.....

The hearing is supposed to be this Thursday. That is if the lawyers decide to end their strike. If not it is anybody's guess when that will happen. Let's not also forget that there is a decision that has to be made about AEK and the events in the Atromitos game, and that game was played before the PAOK-Olympiakos game.

  3. I like our chances for making the playoffs. The games we have left are against teams that we can beat, as long as we play like we did against Panaitolikos. Even if we get 6 points deducted, I think we are in.

We should easily win our two home games, and then we have an away game against Panionios, which we should try not to lose. Our last game is against Platanias, and they will most likely be out any chances for the playoffs, so it might be a meaningless game for them.

If it wasn't for the apparent points deductions, we would most likely increase our distance from the 5th place and actually gained a point for the playoff standings. That might still happen if Panionios does not get a license to play in the playoffs and we have at least a 3 point difference from the 6th placed team.

  4. With four rounds of regular season Superleague games left, PAOk has not secured a spot in the playoffs. Complicating things are the points deduction as a result of the abandoned Greek Cup match against Olympiakos. With that in mind let's see the remaining schedule among the teams that are in the running for a playoff spot:

    STANDINGS AFTER ROUND 26

    2. AEK   53
    3. PAO  45
    4. PAOK - 41
    5. Panionios - 40
    -----------------------
    6. Tripoli - 34
    7. PAS Giannina   34
    8. Levadeiakos  32
    9. Platanias  32

    ROUND 27

    Xanthi - Levadeiakos
    Veroa - Platanias
    PAO - Iraklis
    Panaitolikos - AEK
    PAOK - Kalloni
    Tripoli - Olympiakos
    PAS Giannina - Panionios

    ROUND 28

    Iraklis - Tripoli
    Kalloni - AEK
    Levadeiakos - PAS Giannina
    PAO - Veroia
    Panionios - PAOK
    Platanias - Xanthi

    ROUND 29

    Tripoli - PAO
    PAOK - Levadeiakos
    AEK - Panionios
    PAS Giannina - Platanias

    ROUND 30

    Xanthi - PAS Giannina
    Tripoli - Veroia
    Levadeiakos - AEK
    PAO - Panthrakikos
    Platanias - PAOK
    Panionios - Atromitos

If the playoffs tarted today, the initial standings would be:

    1. AEK  3
    2. PAO  1
    3. PAOK  0
    4. Panionios 0

  5. There are actually three different Gol TV channels. The original was a Miami based soccer channel, that was available on satellite and cable channels in the US. Eventually they got a license to broadcast in Canada and South America. Eventually they ran into financial difficulties and other companies acquired the Canadian and South American divisions. They are still called Gol TV, but broadcast different programming.

As far as I know only the South American version of Gol TV carries Superleague games. An average they will show one game each round, and sometime none at all.

  6. It's because it's in Marinaki's best interest for PAOK to make the playoffs.

It sure is. Besides Olympiakos, PAOK is the only other Greek team that brought in any substantial points to the UEFA's coefficient. Without those points, the 12th position in the UEFA standings would have disappeared much sooner. Also PAOK in European competitions has quite a good points coefficient, which means we get easier draws and thus acquire more points for the overall standings easier. That's something AEK, Panionios, Tripoli, Giannina can't do.

As for the 12 smaller teams, half of those teams are in Marinakis's corner, and even with PAOK, AEk and Panathinaikos joining forces, there are not enough votes to overturn the "red" majority in the Superleague.

  7. Is it possible for epo to wait with the point deduction until the play-offs? If we would start with 3 or 6p deducted it would be over for us before the first kick-off.

It might actually happen, but not because of EPO. It's because lawyers in Greece have been on strikes on and off. As a result lot of the soccer related hearings have been postponed over and over.

PAOK's hearings are supposed to take place this week, and if they take place, any point deductions will take place during the regular season. This is what PAOK wants. First of all, there is a possibility that the point deduction can be up to 6 points, but if it is any bigger than what Panathinaikos got (-3), it will be a robbery. With 3 points deduction, we are pretty much in the playoffs, as there is 7 point difference from Asteras Tripoli.

  9. Tzavellas stands out this season, because of the lack of better players in the CB position. His only good attribute is his passion, which unfortunately is also one of his big liability. He is flirting with a red card in every game. His contract end in 2017, and he will stay until then. I agree with pash that he should play at his natural position as LB.

I would keep Vitor too. even if it is as a backup CB. Unfortunately PAOK might not have much to say in this matter, as his contract ends in June, and it is reported that he is not willing to renew his contract.

  10. Ivic is experimenting with a 4-3-3 formation. The 3-5-2 formation was not possible for the average players that PAOK has on its roster currently.

Anyway, Skondras and Golasa have also been ruled out for Saturday. With that in mind I present you my lineup for the game:

    --------------------- Vellidis -------------------

    Kitsiou --- Vitor --- Malezas --- Tzavellas

    --- Kace -------- Tziolis  ------- Charisis --

    --- Mystakidis ------------------- Pelkas ---

    ----------------- Athanasiadis ---------------

  11. Yes the game against Panthrakikos was the breaking point. I think a decision was allready made a while back that Tudor would not be the coach next season. This was probably decided at the same time as the Arnesen firing. Tudor was kept for strategic reasons.

ivic is also a temporary coach. Just like Georgiadis use to be. I am sure Michel is allready looking for a new coach, and rumors are that he has held a secret meeting with Lucescu, Xanthi's current coach.

  12. Klaus out due to yellows as well....lol...it's like a comedy show now.

Klaus only has 6 cards and is available, although I don't think it makes any difference.

Missing the game are  Glykos, Jairo, Rodriguez, Chatziisaias, Mak, Berbatov, Cimirot

Panaitolikos's main threat is their dekari Warda, so if can put a player such as Kace on him, we can neutralize him. The key player is their keeper and ex-PAOK player Kyriakidis. The few games I have seen Agrinio this season, he has been keeping them in the game.

It will be interesting what Ivic comes up with as a lineup.

  13.

I think that Klaus, Tzabellas, Tziolis, Vitor, Kitsiou, Korovesis, Jairo, Leovac, and (maybe) Pelkas are either dropped or loaned out.

I would add Glykos and Skondras to that list, but would keep Kitsiou, Vitor, Jairo and Pelkas as backaups.

As for Koulouris on pash's list, he had his chances. He is nothingspecial. Set him free so he can move on in Popovic's steps.
  14. Savvidis sacked Tudor right after the game with Panthrakikos. There was actually a disagreement on when to announce his firing. Lubos Michel wanted to have the announcement made right after the game, while other within PAE wanted to wait until the meeting between the owners concluded. Things got easier when Savvidis started bragging about Tudor's fate during the meeting yesterday. The senile Theodoridis and the red medisa machine just took advantage of the situation for their own benefit.

Tudor's fate was decided long time ago. Actually at the same time as when Arnesen's fate was decided. he was being kept as coach for strategic (in Savvidis's mind) reasons.
