  2. Normally I would agree with you guys, but let's face it, Tudor has been kept on board until the end of the season, so he can be the final scapegoat. It is evident that PAOK fans don't have patience for experiments, and as a result this 3-year plan fizzled out quite easily after six months. Not surprising, since Savvidis does not really have the knowledge to run a soccer team, and he pretty much gave up and decided to take the easy way out by firing Arnesen.

I think the one big mistake by Arnesen was that he did not bring in a more experienced coach to start the building process. Tudor's major mistake was that during the whole season he has not learned anything from mistakes he did early in the season. Just take today's game for example. He knew quite well how Panthrakikos plays and how they did damage to us in the first game at Toumba. Today was exact copy of that game. Actually it was even worse since we lost to a team that is basically relegated.

  3. If you ever listened to any of the Thessaloniki sports stations, I am sure you have heard this guy Nikolas, who always talks about conspiracy theories with anything involving PAOK. If his rampages were not so funny, you would think he belongs in a loonie bin.

Nikolas is one of the original Gate 4 fan club leaders. It is said that he was the right hand man of Makis Manavis, the head of Gate 4 in 1970's and 1980's, also known as "Stratigos". Nikolas is one of the PAOKtsides that appeared with the legendary "pano" at the Olympiakos - Aris game that was deciding the 1980 championship.

Anyway, besides going on all this radio shows and stirring things up, he apparently attends low division amateur games as witnessed in the video below:

  4. There's no way Tudor should be staying for next season. This experiment went really bad. Let him finish this disaster of a season, but I hope Michel is looking for a new coach as I type this.

Additionally, a lot of our players don't have th quality to be starters on this team. We need quite a few experienced players along with the youngsters.

  5. I am still pissed off that CBS has delayed showing season 5 of my favorite show Person of Interest. Apparently they will show the 13 episodes of season five sometimes this spring. There are rumors that this will be the final season for the show.

  6. Mak will miss the game, but it looks like Klaus and Rodrigues will be ready to play.

    My lineup:

    ------------------------- Vellidis -------------------------

    Ktsiou -- Vitor ------ Chatziisais ------ Tzavellas

    -------------- Tziolis -------------- Cimirot -----------

    ---- Mystakidis -------- Pelkas -------- Rodrigues

    -------------------- Athanasiadis ----------------------

  7. I really can't confirm that they are available in Australia, but Sport Plus keeps listing Sydney game times along with New York times when they advertise their games, so they think they are.

However their web site only shows New York time listings. On the other hand their Facebook page shows both NY and Sydney time. Quite confusing.

  8. Michel (and Savvidis via teleconference) , Melissanidis and Alafouzos held a meeting earlier today to discuss their next steps in the battle against EPO.

Their initial main goal is for Girtzikis to step down from EPO.

They are also preparing for the proposed meeting among all the Superleague owners set for Tuesday as called for by Xanthi owner Panopoulos.. Let's see if everyone shows up.

  9. There is always an appeal process. I don't think they cut Mak's punishment, but the fan punishment should be overturned. Don't forget Olympiakos was punished for one game for a lighter that hit Koulibali in the Platanias game, but later during appeal that punishment was overturned.

Mak will be back for the last two games in regular season and the playoffs. That's if he decides to continue playing in Greece.

  10. Reports are that 13 million Euro in bets have been placed on an Olympiakos win in yesterday's game on Asian betting sites. Some are saying that this is the reason why the ref decided to resume the game after interrupting it. If the game is abandoned, then all the bets are off.

  11. Kontonis did  not go far enough. He needs to do a Thatcher and ban Greek teams from Europe for some time. Then you will see the miracle of all teams coming together and fixing the problems in Greek soccer.

  12. It's official. PAOK will not travel to Piraeus to play the return match. On top of that the minister of Sports stopped the second semifinal game from taking place and also announced the cancellation of this season's Greek Cup.

Also during the PAE PAOK announcement by Lubos Michel that PAOK will not play the second game, the PAOK president also told reporters that Robert Mak has told PAOK people that he does not want to continue playing in Greece anymore. Since he will be punished somewhere between 4-6 games for his red card, he probably won't play any more games for the team anyway.

  13. That's because nobody gives a s%$#! about having a good clean league. As long as the cash from CL is flowing in, there is no incentive to fix things. Olympakos does not want to change things. EPO and the government are controlled by Olympiakos, so they don't have any power to change things either. The whole thing is a reflection of Greece as a country.

Corrupt state = corrupt soccer. Simple as that.

  14. The propaganda machine is already in full swing changing the focus on other things (leftists, anarchists, and the ultimate stereotype of bad PAOK), instead of pinpointing the real cause of the problem, which is the corrupted state of the Greek soccer and the result of the disenfranchised fans, who can't stand the double standards anymore.

As usual nothing will get done to stop this. Olympiakos is happy for things to stay the same, as long as they make it to the CL every year.

  15. Savvidis said that PAOK will not play the return game in Karaiskaki unless today's game is replayed with a foreign referee.

I wish he goes ahead with this, just to expose the hypocrisy in Greek soccer. If he does not want to pay the fine (around 50K) and -3 points from the next championship, than he should just send the U-17 team to play.
