I thought it was inevitable that Ivic would sit out Klaus, but I'm kind of surprised he did it for this game. Not surprised in a bad way, mind you. He needs to have a reason to be afraid for his starting position. After all, look how well Glykos has been playing since Brkic was brought on.

Watching vs the Dolphins right now...Jimmy just got taken off the field. Hopefully it's not a dislocated shoulder. Brisset just brought us into FG range, thank God we had a 21-point lead before Garoppolo was wrecked.

Crespo has a stomach bug, might not play

Gamisi xoris salio...you actually had that in your wedding vows, didn't you? It's not okay to plagiarize yourself, bro. That's the thing, we've BARELY seen him. If he's on par with Matos, I predict a great few years. Agreed that Rodrigues is going to be our next big sale, but I don't think Matos is going to fetch a high price. We're getting him at the tail end of his "prime." If we can get two or three years of productivity out of him, though, it'll be great. He's absolutely solid as RB. Speed, strength, can attack, a better dribbler than all but two or three of our players...real happy with him.

MD 2 should see all three Greek teams with easier opponents. If we manage three wins out of three matches, it'll be great.

I think Ivic rested a few players vs Fiorentina so that they can focus on Asteras. Here's my guess (perhaps optimistic) for our lineup: --Glykos-- --Matos--Crespo--Tzavellas--Leovac-- --Canas--Charisis--Cimirot-- --Campos--Pereyra--Rodrigues-- While I agree that Varela will eventually take over the starting CB position, I think Ivic will rely on Crespo due to his having partnered with Tzavellas so many times already. I also think that he's going to sit out Klaus entirely for this one - and may start Koulouris over Pereyra. I wonder if we'll eventually see a 3-5-2 come out again. We have a poor record away vs Asteras, so he might go even more defensive...

I think Ivic was only one or two calls off from having a great game. The only truly bad call he made, was not having a real striker there as backup for Klaus (although I'm sure he'd argue that Thiam is that striker). He recognized that Campos ran out of steam and ideas by around halftime, and took steps to replace him with a more solid defender when it became obvious Fiorentina had us off balance and would continue attacking. His move worked. And as for Pelkas...I think he did decently well. Shakhov should be playing with him, not instead of him. If anything, that's the biggest issue I've seen with Ivic's teams. He keeps playing with two DMs and a central midfielder, relying on our wingers to feed Klaus. If we see more of Biseswar/Pelkas in the #10 role, we'll see more goals.

Had we started with a different striker - even Koulouris - I feel we would have looked much stronger up there.

I'm not really happy with this result, we could have done so much better. Rodrigues spent much of the night hot or cold, but really picked it up at the end. Clear handball on his last attack, should have been a penalty. Man of the Match was clearly Glykos. Saved our asses multiple times. Second and third for me were Matos and Leovac. Real happy with both of them. Thiam clearly wants to play on the left, not really an appropriate sub for Klaus...Mistakidis was missed tonight.
