  1. Karalis with another new NR at 6.05 and remains perfect with Duplantis! What a battle!
  2. For the first time, Emmanouilidou qualified for the semifinals at the World Indoor Championship. Her time was 7.26 (20th place overall), one of the six fastest time for non-automatic qualifiers. Tsoukala was not so lucky, finished at 7.46 (36th place overall)
  3. Emmanouilidou and Tsoukala starts off tomorrow morning (tonight local time in the U.S.) in the women's 60 meters. Emmanoulidiou is in Heat 1 while Tsoukala is in Heat 5. First three goes to the semifinals automatically with the fastest 6 times (non-automatics). The ideal time to go to the semifinals is 7.24 or under. Karalis is going 7th in the order in the men's pole vault, I do expect him to skip the early heights and go straight to 5.60 or 5.70, hoping he won't have to do many jumps early on.
  4. Greece can turn this around, if Jovanovic starts the same players who played mostly in the second half.
  5. You call that a penalty? lol This ref must be high on something strong.
  6. Season's best for the Greek athletes going to Nanjing Men's Miltiadis Tentoglou - 8.05 Emmanouil Karalis - 6.02 Women's Polyniki Emmanouilidou - 7.18 Dimitra Tsoukala - 7.30 Sofia Iosifidou - 8.14
  7. Greece got 3 medals at the European Throwing Cup in Nicosia, Cyprus. The breakdown Maria Rafailidou - Women's Shot Put Under 23 - Bronze (15.74) SB Giannis Korakidis - Men's Hammer Throw Under 23 - Bronze (71.08) SB Yiannis Kyriazis - Men's Javelin Throw - Gold (84.38) EL
  8. Here are my predications for the Greek athletes in this competition On the men's side, I see Karalis get silver and Tentoglou get bronze (because he is not in top form, but still could medal). On the women's side, Emmanouilidou should qualify for the semifinals and possibly get a new PB. If she runs under 7.14, she will become the second fastest Greek woman ever in the 60 meters. Both Tsoukala and Iosifidou will not make it out of the heats and will not get a new PB.
  9. Schedule for the Greek athletes Local times in Nanjing Saturday, March 22 11:15 Women's 60 Meters - Emmanouilidou, Tsoukala (H) 18:34 Men's Pole Vault - Karalis (Final) 20:15 Women's 60 Meters (SF) 21:18 Women's 60 Meters (Final) Sunday, March 23 10:25 Women's 60 Meters Hurdles - Iosifidou (H) 19:35 Women's 60 Meters Hurdles (SF) 19:40 Men's Long Jump - Tentoglou (Final) 20L57 Women's 60 Meters Hurdles (Final)
  10. 5 Greek athletes will be heading to Nanjing, China for the World Athletics Indoor Championship (March 21-23) once SEGA delegation approved. The list: Men's Long Jump: Miltiadis Tentoglou Pole Vault: Emmanouil Karalis Women's 60 Meters: Polyniki Emmanouilidou, Dimitra Tsoukala 60 Meters Hurdles: Sofia Iosifidou
  11. Looks like Dimitra Tsoukala and Sofia Iosifidou are the wild cards for the World Indoor Athletics Championship.
  12. It's all set, Tentoglou, Karalis, and Emmanouilidou are going to Nanjing, China. The qualifying period has ended yesterday. Any additional athletes to be added to the Greek National Team will be announced tomorrow. I think Dimitra Tsoukala or Andrea Mita are the top candidates. If Mita is selected, I doubt he will go since he is currently committed to staying in Houston as a student athlete. Besides, he has a NCAA indoor track and field coming up this weekend to compete in.
  13. 15 Greek athletes will be taking part in Nicosia, Cyprus for the European Throwing Cup on March 15-16. Men's Shot Put: Iason Macheras Hammer Throw: Christos Frantzeskakis, Mihail Anastasakis Javelin Throw: Giannis Kyriazis Women's Shot Put: Maria Magoulia Discus Throw: Chrysoula Anagnostopoulou Hammer Throw: Stavroula Kosmidou Javenlin Throw: Elina Tzengko Men's Under 23 Shot Put: Theofanis Mavrodontis Discus Throw: Artemios Adamakis Hammer Throw: Ioannis Korakidis Women's Under 23 Shot Put: Maria Rafaelidou Discus Throw: Vasiliki Samolada Hammer Throw: Paraskevi Pouli Javelin Throw: Eleonora Tsoga
  14. Gold medal for Karalis! 5.90 is his mark and he shares gold with Netherland's Menno Vloon also finished with 5.90. Both of them have identical score line. Defending European Indoor Champion Sondre Guttormsen of Norway settles for bronze at the same height with Karalis and Vloon. Emmanouilidou did not make it to the finals as she finished at 7.22 (17th place overall)
  15. Sunday morning was a busy day for the Greek athletes. In men's shot put, Mouzenidis finished 16th place at 18.67 while Latiflari had a NM, fouling on all of his three throws. In the women's 60 meters, Spanoudaki finished 36th place at 7.41, Tsoukala finished 35th place at 7.39, which killed off any hopes for a spot in Nanjing, China (World Indoors). Emmanouilidou ran a massive PB in the heats at 7.18 and advanced into the semifinals. She must bring the same energy if she has an opportunity to qualify for the finals. She must avoid running over 7.20. She will be racing in semifinals 3 (Lane 1), in that group Ewa Swoboda of Poland is the favorite to win that race. Second place is up for grabs as well as the fastest two times from non-automatic qualifiers.
  16. On Saturday, only three Greek male sprinters in the 60 meters performed in the morning session, all failed to advance into the semifinals, the results. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos 6.74 PB (31st place) Sotirios Garagiannis 6.77 (34th place) Vasilios Myrianthopoulos 6.79 (37th place)
  17. Desopllari finished at 2:03.80 (10th place overall), not enough to qualify for the semifinals. Gusin finished at 1.85 (12th place overall), had chances to go over 1.89, just missed out. Goga has a bad day, got all three fouls to finish with a NM. Tsiamis tried his best at 43 years of age, finished 13th place at 15.86. Rizos finished 15th place at the men's pole vault (5.45), while Karalis did what he is expected to do, qualify for the finals at 5.75. He will go for gold this Sunday as well as the European Indoor Championship record of 6.05.
  18. Some positives to go with the negatives in today's competition. Merlos just missed out of the finals finishing 13th place at 2.18, had opportunities to go over 2.23 which could have sealed qualification. Adamopoulou got a new indoor personal best at 4.45, but it's not enough to qualify to the finals, finished 12th place. Kiriakopoulou finished 8th place (22nd overall) in the first heat with a seasons best at 4:25.82. At the 60 meter hurdles, Roumistos got a new personal best at 7.83 in Heat 3, finished 7th place (25th place overall). It appears we may have found a new Greek male hurdler for the future. Only 22 years old. Pesiridou was terrible, finished 8th place in Heat 4 at 8.70 (32nd place overall). I wonder why Sofia Iosifidou doesn't get the nod since she is 26 years old and performs better? Recently got a personal best of 8.14 at the Greek Indoor Championships.
  19. What a horrible showing in Norway, Olympiakos are way better than that. The refs missed some critical calls which could have helped Olympiakos score at least 1 in the match. Missing El Kabbi pretty much felt, now they have to do what they did last year in the round of 16 Conference League, turning around a 3 goal deficit.
  20. El Kabbi will be out for the first leg, he should be OK to return in Greece for the second leg.
  21. So happy for Stefanidi, read this news from her Instagram account. She will be a happy mother!!! ❤️ As for Tentoglou, it's all good, he needs to rest and fully recover. Right now, he is ranked 15th place out of the 16 entries to compete in the men's long jump at the World Athletics Indoor Championships. I will be keeping an eye on this.
  22. Season's best for the Greek athletes going to Apeldoorn Stats for the 2025 indoor season Men's Emmanouil Karalis 6.02 Miltiadis Tentoglou 8.05 Antonios Merlos 2.21 Dimitris Tsiamis 16.09 Giannis Rizos 5.55 Odyessus Mouzenidis 18.77 Tasos Latiflari 18.56 Christos Panagiotis-Roumitsos 7.86 Sotirios Garaganis 6.72 Vasilis Myranthopoulos 6.77 Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos 6.81 Women's Polyniki Emmanouilidou 7.24 Dimitra Tsoukala 7.30 Rafaela Spanoudaki 7.34 Tatiana Gusin 1.85 Ariadni Adamopoulou 4.40 Andriana Goga 6.45 Georgia Despollari 2:03.38 Anthi Kiriakopoulou 4:26.46 Elisavet Peseridou (Making her indoor season debut)
  23. Don't forget a 5th team for the Greek Cup winner not including Olympiakos, otherwise the 5th place team in the Greek League gets the final Conference League Qualifying spot.
  24. Tsoukala moved up to 55th place in the qualifying list for the women's 60 meters
  25. I predict this will be a difficult competition for the majority of the Greek athletes. I only see 2 medals, gold for Karalis and silver for Tentoglou. Emmanouilidou should qualify for the semifinals and will be fighting for a spot in the final 8. Tsoukala will be fighting for at least a semifinals spot or improve on her time to qualify for the World Indoor Championship in Nanjing, China. Others may not excess past there current stat for the indoor season.
