It wasn't just the linesmen, you can see the way the confidence with which the olympiako players fouled and dove on every ###### play. They know that when they have the reffs on their side they can get away with murder. You guys are wasting your time talking about line ups and formations. When you HAVE to lose because the system says so, then you will lose whether you are AEK or Barcelona. Telos. When the gauro makes mistakes and we break with more players up front they will either get a foul called their way or an offside called against us. When we make mistakes our players get yellows without second thought and we get scored on. Thats it. The difference between these squads on the field (not paper) isn't as drastic as the media tried to make it seem, and we could have came out of there with a result. But no one can get get out of there with a result with the ref plays you 90-10 for 75 minutes. We found our selves behind with a non existent goal. From 0-0 to 1-0 we had 3-4 CLEAR on side plays ruled offside and countless fouls called in the opposite direction and hard fouls with no yellows. Della did what he can, took the risk to get the point and they took advantage of it and scored. SIMPLE.....this game unfolds much differently if you don't have a gauro employ calling the game for 75 minutes.

Im not even going to talk about the technical aspects of this game as it would take away from the fact that our team got SLAUGHTERED by the ref for 75 minutes. When you have 5 tet a tet opportunities whistled offside, A penalty not called, Every foul going in the opposite direction, a goal off of multiple fouls, our players getting hacked like no tomorrow........then you can bring Ronaldo and Messi and it wouldnt make a difference.....until Greek soccer is saved from this cancer called olympiako and from the corrupt system that supports them, NOTHING will change. After the first fake goal the team opened up, he took out simoes and the risk didn't pay off. Bottom line is you can't play under these conditions. This whole week they've been flexing their muscles showing us how much shady s%$#! they can get away with and today they did it. They continued their work from last year.

Btw AEKaraPA how does it feel knowing that you'll have to watch the game with a bunch of gaurous because youre a kseftila prodoti and you can't watch it the way us AEK brothers do in here?? I just hope win lose we get to see some ball today and the conversation doesn't switch to ref talk as it always does. Let the ###### game be played you kseftiles. Every year they brag about how great their team is and every year they rely on 90-10 reffing and on scandals like last year's pao game where they got their asses handed to them on the field and relied on off the field tactics again. Maybe they aren't as good as they think they are if they need ALLL THAT HELPP right? As far as the game goes I have some questions regarding the choice of Lampropoulo. Weren't we talking about how unlucky we were last year not to have Kolovetsio in this game and now were benching him by choice? I just hope Lampropoulo can be what he was last year during the derby and not what he usually is. As far as leaving Buonnanotte out is concerned , I see what his logic is there, so I'll support his decision but like I've said other times, hes going to have to read the game and be proactive, and not waste him on the bench for 70-80 minutes if he's needed.

This ###### game hasn't even started yet and there is already shady ###### activity going on behind the scenes between the ref and the team of corruption. Something tells me they are going to try and outdo themselves again and make last year's 90-10 ref work look like child's play. Seeing him last year and some of this year, he is a good player but at the same time he's 25 years old and has been playing his entire career in B division, except for one short spell at panionio. Who knows how he'll react to the pressure of being on an upper tier A division team. Not to mention he seems like a poor man's Aravidi and we already have that type of player so no point in taking the risk to get the same result.

Aside from his goals with AEK, can someone realistically tell me that htis player is an ampalo?

There's a misconception that Aravidi is an ampalo, or a Blanko type player but this is really not true. A lot of the goals he has scored show a lot of class, especially the goal against the gauro last year. Also if you look at his days at Panionio, the guy is anything but an ampalo. He does have ball control and is able to run with the ball at his feet. But here is what the issue is right now....the formation. Buonannotte and Vargas are players who can create but at the same time are the type of players who create mostly for themselves. They're the guys who are going to whiz passed a few defenders and send a rocket passed the goal keeper. These types of players can't help Aravidi. Buonanotte is more of an AM and Vargas hasn't been used as a dekari as much and when he is, he isn't as effective, not just because of his conditioning but because he's also fairly new to the team. The only player in the line up who has the ability to get into the front and help out Aravidi and actually connect him to the rest of the team is Mandalo (and to some degree Barbosa) . Mandalo can empty out defenders and has enough vision to distribute the ball and create chances. Arava is either being isolated by poor line-up choices or he's being used as a winger, something he tries nobly to accomplish but it just isn't his position. I think the perfect thing to get him connected to the attack is to play the 4-1-3-2 but i that can't happen we need Mandalo behind him.

This is going to be tough but ultimately we are not mpaok, this jersey is much heavier and no matter what we have to look all our rivals in the eyes. Simoes is a must in this game. I wish Della used Johanson's bad form and Simoes' injury as a chance to get Cordero into the rhythm of things but we don't have that luxury now. Either way we'll need to be well balanced all along the field.

I'm so mad that we didn't put 100% into our toumpa game. That team is stale and their back line looks really flimsy....fortunately for them we were too scared to test them......We need to learn from this mpaok-gauro game and realize that no opponent in this league is worth fielding a defensive 4-3-3. As for the gauro, I wasn't too crazy about them either. We didn't really get to see a game because they took an early comfortable lead and then paok bored us to death. The only thing I can say is that they are weak on set pieces. They were lucky on more than one occasion not to get scored off a set piece.

Also someone needs to talk about the blatant offside that was not waved by the official. Had that gone in we would be having a much different conversation right now.

I don't think the win was as comfortable as you make it seem. The first half you guys were better but even so the stats were almost identical. In the second half you were lucky not to get scored on, on a few occasions. Paok really does lack quality though, rodriguez is in a league of his own on that squad. As for the fans , that had to be one of the more boring kerkides I've seen paok fans put on, on par with some karaiskaki megaphone rallies haha. Also this idea about an 8 team league is ridiculous! If we were playing each other 4 times a year in the league and a potential extra 1 or 2 times in the cup, the derbies would lose their value. It would get boring and repetitive like Reaper mentioned. That south american format is so strange and I really hate to watch it. The league is better than its been the last 5 or so years thats for sure. As for as pre 2010, much worse.

Yea I agree, Della has a lot of pressure to try and keep 3 very good players in the starting lineup. I think the best thing to do is to keep his decisions performance based rather than potential based. In the case of Vargas for example , he has been the least effective in the last few games so he should be benched for the game in Karaiskaki and come in as a power sub as he did with Pas. Putting him as a CM when Mandalo has been in great form does more damage to us than good. You really saw Mandalo struggling to stay in position this game. The biggest issue right now is what do you do with Buonannotte? The guy is good, but he doesn't have the tenacity that Platella has on the wing. He likes to break the ball into the middle before the final third and can leave Galo exposed where as Platella is pretty much up and down the wing the entire game and then cuts in close to the corner flag. However Buonnanotte is a game changer whereas Platella is more of a role player in A division....what are your guys's thoughts?

I still disagree on a lot of choices he made but at least there is progress. The big plus today was that he fielded a formation that was able to adapt on the field and was easy to change. He literally made 2 substitutions and the third one wasn't even mandatory. Whereas in the other games the formation was so ridiculous he needed at least 5 substitutions to change the dynamic of the team. We should never stray from the formations the team knows. Also his substitutions were SPOT ON today. Buonannotte could have done a little better but that isn't Dellas' fault. There are a few moves however that I did not agree with: 1. Starting Vargas and not Buonannotte. I think Buonnanotte is very explosive in the first half whereas Vargas is very explosive in the second half. I think Vargas can come on when the opponent is more tired and have his way around the field. 2. This is something that was a problem but is somewhat unavoidable unless we play 4-1-3-2 and that is putting Mandalo as a DM. Its great in creating transition to the offense, so we control the field more effectively, but at the same time Mandalo is too good to keep so far away from the attack. By far the classiest player on the squad in my opinion. Every time he touches the ball you are reminded of just how good he is, but its hard to do that when you're making the run all the way from the defensive third. Also I think you guys are being harsh on Barbosa, he might of been a bit rusty in the first half but in the second half he was one of our best. Its a shame that Simoes couldnt play today but in the Tigani he is mandatory. I'd much rather see Mandalo as our CM and bench Vargas so we can fit Simoes in the line up. I just really hope Della doesnt s%$#! his pants again like mpaok and make the gavro look like barcelona. We need to go in there and look them in the eyes.
