BVB cannot offer the prestige that clubs like Real, Barca, ManU, Bayern, etc can. They are one level below and thus will always be at the mercy of a handful of clubs who can pry away their talent.
Dortmund is one of my favourite clubs, but it`s hard to deny that I would want to see Sokratis in a club like Real Madrid.

Half German?

Skibbe should definitely give Mavropanos a call-up. If he can do it with Retsos at 19, a 20-year-old playing for Arsenal`s first team should be a no brainer. It`s important to adapt him into the NT culture even though it may be several years before he is a first choice CB for Greece.

Lazaro is half greek. Like Holebas. Not the same as Zeca who's not greek at all and Villafanez who's only 25% Greek.
Lazaros is half Greek? Is that stated anywhere official?

Karnezis started again as Watford won 4-1 versus Chelsea. He conceded a penalty of Eden Hazard.
To Brklyngrk: He wasnt that bad against Croatia. Only the first goal was partly his fault (and partly that of Tzavellas). He was then rendered helpless by his defenders before the second, the third and especially the fourth goal when Stafylidis assisted literally one of the Croatians and he had a string of fine saves. Actually he was one of our better performers IMO.
Defense was such a mess vs Croatia its hard to fault him, he was completely exposed. Skibbe spinelessly opting to start Maniatis over Retsos at RB was a massive error.

Not sure he had a better option. I don`t know Forest`s keeper situation though? Does he have any chance of taking number 1?
-
Amazing to see him score, but he will not have the club and fan confidence until he scores a more meaningful goal.
-
He is back playing abroad, joining his compatriots Vellios and Bouchalakis at Notthingham Forest F.C. in England`s EFL Championship.
-
He should have still been playing for the NT at least for this coming campaign. Very unfortunate that his career dropped off so prematurely.

I can see him getting loaned out next season, but he definitely has the potential to earn a spot at Arsenal in near future.
-
Promising youngster Vagelis Pavlidis has joined fellow Greek striker Anargyros Kampetsis at Borrusia Dortmund II on loan until June from VfL Bochum.
-
Giorgos Koutroubis signed with Belgian side Standard Liège on a 6 month contract with option for another year.
-
Joined Arsenal in January 2018 from PAS Giannina for £1.89m.
Arsene Wenger initially intended to send him out on loan, but his plans changed after seeing him in training. "The first signs he showed were so encouraging that I decided to keep him," he said.

Karnezis in goal for Watford in it’s away EPL match overnight again Stoke City. Full-time 0-0. It’s funny how quiet we are when he has a good match or keeps a clean sheet but when he has one occasional bad match the whole world is reminded on this site.
I think it is more that he is at his prime age as a keeper and he is a #2 with starts few and far-between. Until he plays regularly at Watford or goes to a club where he is a #1, how much can one say about him?

It`s so easy top drop and really tough to climb back up. Greece is easily a top-30 team.

Just went to Stoke City on loan for the rest of the season.

Depends how you look at it. Is it a good thing? I don't think so. We have to finish 1st in a group of 3. Then we have to play the other 3 group winners for 1 spot in group C. Some might say easy way to go.
But now in the regular qualifiers only the top 2 in each group go. 10 groups =20 teams. If we didn't have this nations league than the 8 best 3rd place would go into playoffs for last 4 teams.
Greece has slipped in the rankings big time. Meaning we could get a group of death in qualifiers. 3rd place would sure come in handy in a situation like that.
I'm not in favour of this nations league. It's going to screw us.
You are right I would have probably preferred this in order to qualify. What Nations League gives us is more meaningful competitive games to look forward to, so I will take it.

Mods should really be updating the thread titles. I mean how hard can this be? There are so many out of date.

Although 16 in 58 isn't eye popping, we need to take into consideration that he plays on a defense-first Greece team. If he was playing in front of a more skilled/attack minded midfield, he would have likely had double the goals.

wolfsburg will be checking koutris today
kapino is looking for a team in bundesliga
kourmpelis is getting sold on january
italian, german, english teams and paok after stafylidis. paok want to sign him on loan for the rest of the season.
Wolfsburg would be a great landing spot for Koutris.
Kapino will get a deal abroad, but being dropped by Oly will hurt his market value.
PAOK would be a good second half loan for Stafy, but he has the tools to play in a better league than Greece long-term.

Can't blame them for giving an opportunity to grow the game internationally. It is important on the grand scale.

Getting lots of experience on a decent club (currently 3rd) in a pretty good dutch league. Too bad there is a log jam in the CB position for Greece.
