  1. Completely agree. What is up with these "random" tests? So getting caught (or not) is based on luck? Everyone should have an equal chance of getting busted. Are these drug tests so expensive and time consuming that they can only be administered to a portion of the athletes? That's complete vlakies. All you got to do is woop out your poulaki, piss in a cup, hand it to some scientist and end of story. On a side note, what do you guys think about the swimmers this year? It seems like almost every race (and I am not exaggerating), the world record was broken, in some cases it wasn't even close, and sometimes more than one swimmer within the same race beat the previous world record. It got to the point that I expected a new world record to be set for every race. I'm not an expert in swimming, so is it really possible that in 4 years time since Athens, that so many swimmers became that much better without doping? And how? Through better coaching techniques, weight training, more aerodynamic swimsuits, etc.?
  2. Hooray for women's sailing! :nw: I just saw it on NET-ET1 "Yia tin Ellada re gamoto" Sophia (one of the sailors) says on camera.
  3. wtf! We really needed him to compete in Europe. His pace is crucial to compete against the top teams. He was badly missed vs. Chelsea, we were like a bunch of old snails trying to limp along till the game was over. Ok, the only way I can forgive this m@l&* is if we get some quick bad as mofo (e.g. Lennon) to replace him... which i highly doubt will happen. I mean, I doubt the guy would want to play in Quatar over Greece, out of the champions league and the best fans in the world? If he were to be paid the same amount, maybe even slightly less than what this Quatar team offered him, he would stay. How the hell can you have soooo much money and know that keeping him would increase success in Europe, and NOT want to pay the extra money to ensure that? It pisses me off when owners only care about the $$$. I can understand the financial side of things, but if I was a multi-multi-millionaire and actually cared about my team and the game of football, I would sacrifice a couple of dollars to WIN. This player is awesome and he wants to stay. How can you let someone like that go? To Quatar?!?!?
  4. He probably wont come, but can you imagine Crespo in the center with Lua Lua and Galletti on each side? That's one hell of a front 3!
  5. Ouzo is a hell of a drug!...that's why I had to edit this post
  6. The New England Cheaters get what they deserve... a loss at the very end of the season. Who knows how many of those super bowls were won by cheating (maybe all 3?). I can't stand that ma*^(ka Belichek. Who the hell does he think he is walking off the field before the game is over. The guy cheats, and when he doesn't win it all, he's all sour grapes. Let him go to the locker room a loser wearing that cheap hooded sweater of his, looks like something out of a 1980's aerobics workout tape.
  7. I stand by my quote. Anything less than gold will be a failure. We are the best. Let's do it all the way re ga*oto!!!! :gr: :gr: :gr:
  8. That's why it's better to have 12 really good players instead of ONE great player (and a couple of good players). If one gets injured (Zisis), we don't have to use the excuse: "well, we were without our best player." We don't use that excuse. May the best TEAM win. ;)
  9. I agree, it was a great effort for Baghdatis, especially in the later stages of the match. It was tough, especially with the entire crowd backing Agassi. I almost thought the tide had turned in Baghdatis favor, with Agassi losing his stamina due to his age, but he's proved he can still get it done. I have respect for Agassi, so it does not bother me so much. I hope Marcos can learn from this experience and improve his game to make it into the best of the best of the world. :)
  10. Quotes from people I know: "We'll blow them away" "Nobody stands a chance against the USA" "I guarantee they'll win the championship" Where are you now fellow amerikanakia? Time to start the excuses. I can't wait to see what the USA sport shows will say about this defeat. Not even listed in SI's top 8 before the tournament? :nono: Sports Illustrated: GO SUCK A BIG FAT... Oh, it's so beautiful! :gr:
  11. AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :gr: :gr: :gr: :gr: :gr:
  12. What's up guys, no comments? Greece up by 4 points at half time. Not bad, not bad at all.
  13. If there is no rain delay, the game should be played at 7:00 pm ET.U.S. Open Schedule Finaly, something the Greek folks in the US can watch during normal hours.
  14. Agassi defeats Pavel Looks like the match with Baghdatis is on Thursday. If anyone finds out the time of the match (ET), please post. :)
  15. As of now, there is a channel on Sopcast labeled "2006 FIBA World Championship" under the Test Group. Right now, it's showing Germany vs. Nigeria. Perhaps it will show the Greece vs. China game live. Will it be at 7:00 AM Eastern time U.S.?
  16. I think you're right about the following "Dream Teams". I don't know why they don't get the absolute best U.S. players in the NBA. I can only guess the top players don't think it's worth it to play for their country, and turn down the offer. I can't imagine any other country in the world offering a player the chance to play and represent their nation on the world stage, and the player turning down his own nation. Usually it's the other way around. This is another one of the excuses they use when they do not come in first place. "We didn't have our best players". It's not our fault their top players don't care to play. However, I do think this is the best team since the original dream team because it is filled with young superstars, and some of them still have something to prove. I wouldn't mind throwing Kobe into the mix to create some imbalance in the ego department. If there is one team that can defeat the US, I think Greece is the one to do it. With Puerto Rico and Slovenia, the final score was not a blow out, and their opponents did manage to score a combined average of almost 100 points. The main strength of the US is offense which is great because the Greek team's main strength is defense. We probably have the best defense in the world. I think the US team will find tough opposition when trying to score and may get frustrated. If we have a decent shooting game, we can beat them. :gr:
  17. I'll take that matchup, darkhorse. I think we're better than last year (at least we're better than we were before we won it all), and Slovenia is worse.Frankly, I'll take any matchup they give us. The teams which will be the biggest test for Hellas though, are Spain and Argentina, and USA if they eventually meet. I was watching the USA vs. Slovenia game today on ESPN (US channel) and the announcer kept mentioning the tougher competition facing the US up the road. He repeated at least three times "Greece, Spain, and Argentina are the other elite teams in this tournament" and "they are the most discipline teams" as well. After reading the post about the Sports Illustrated "Top 8" teams in the tourament, I thought it confirmed my opinion about all American sports writers/announcers/people being completely clueless when it comes to the rest of the world (not just sports). I've heard people in the US say things like "we will blow them all away" or "nobody stands a chance against us". Really? who won Bronze in the last Olympics? I remember when the first Dream Team played in the Olympics. At McDonalds they had the schedule written on the cups, and the funny thing was that even in the knock-out rounds they had written "USA vs. TBA (To Be Announced)" going all the way up to the final! It's nice to see a few people open their eyes beyond these borders and acknowledge the potential threat foreign teams pose to the USA. But, to those who are so 100% confident that nobody stands a chance, I hope the USA don't win the world championships, and when they lose I hope they lose BIG! And I hope Greece is the one who does it. So anytime someone makes a funny comment about "that small country" I'll have a sweet comeback, other than the usual "democracy, philosophy, geometry, etc. contribution" speech which usually never sets in to those listening. Basketball is more simple. ;) World Basketball Championship Final: HELLAS vs TBA  :gr:
  18. The way we've been performing lately, I honestly believe we can make it to the top three. My dream situaton: Greece vs. USA in the final, with Greece nailing a 3 pointer in the last second to become world champions! US television highlights showing all of America who the true basketball champs of the world are! :gr: :gr: :gr:
  19. Was Parker and Diaw playing for France in the Acropolis Tournament? I was expecting France to be one of the favorites for this upcoming world championship. It's funny to see a U.S. team with SO MANY superstars, and to even think they might not win the tournament. The one big thing they lack is teamwork. Too many guys with huge egos trying to show off on the world stage. If they can get past that, they'll have a good chance to win it all.
  20. I'm glad to hear of all the great results lately, but can't watch any of their games. I have not been able to see one olympiakos friendly this summer so far. Where does one without a satelite view their games? Any links for tomorrows game?
  21. The man from the little island of Cyprus ranks higher than the American Roddick.Sweet. :D
