Aleko, I believe he wants a coach who has a better understanding of the SL. I guess you can say quantity (points) over quality (possession).

Looks like Pantelidis will be the new coach of Aris, don't know him or his work but wish him all the luck.

Another Monday game which means I get to watch it at work, for what it's worth, Aris has won all the games I've watched live. It goes without saying that a loss in this game will be devastating, I don't even know who will be sitting on the bench. Our roster quality should be enough to pull out the victory as long as the players psyche is positive.

For the sake of argument, I'll try and make sense of the decision made by Aris to relieve Herrera of his duties. If you asked me after Aris clinched promotion what my expectations were for the return to the SL, I probably would have said a top 8 finish would be satisfying. I don't think it's unfair to say the bar was raised after the transfers this offseason along of course with the way the team has performed up until this point. Of the 5 loses only the game against AEK was out of reach, the rest should have been avoided. No doubt they play soccer that is pleasing to the eye but unfortunately that style has not produced results. I get losing to the top 3 teams was not unexpected but the loses to PAS and Panionios followed by the others, in the same manner no less, is why the move was made. As fans we should demand more from our teams, realistically of course, and I think a 5th place finish should be the goal. In my opinion, the team lacked in confidence with all the close loses so maybe the players stopped listening to Herrera.

Aris won the game 2-1, I don't how Diamantopoulos does it but the kid scored both goals. Maybe Herrera should give him an opportunity, he seems to always be in the right spot.

I'm not making excuses but this was the first time the team played with Basha and Mavraj as central defenders and it obviously failed miserably. I didn't watch the game, only highlights, but was very discouraged with Mavraj's attitude and body language. Many have compared him to Ronaldo, I never remember the Brazilian acting like that, he was pure class. I don't know that it's fair to criticize Basha after one game but he doesn't appear to have the discipline for that position. The first goal reminded me of amateur defenders in the local EPS leagues (ano kerasia vs pefkofito).

The team needs to become less lateral and more vertical.

As I stated yesterday, I do not believe we will lose this weekend, in a scenario that we do, anyone here believe Herrera will be relieved of his duties?

Don't forget Panionios is also a team vying for that 5th spot. We will not lose against OSFP, worse case scenario is a draw.

I think this game will be played with no fans, if so this will be good for Aris.

I can honestly say I did not expect the team to be this good. The three losses could have and should have been avoided, I'm not suggesting that all should have been victories but definitely draws. I believe the quality is there for a top 5 finish but that is not a given since the teams we will be battling, with same aspirations, are at our level as well. After 4 yrs. of purgatory my only hope was a team worth watching. My wish was granted, anything positive beyond this point is icing on the cake.

You are spot on. The irony here is that the teams most responsible for the non trust are the ones pushing for foreign refs. I just hope it's a good game that actually finishes and obviously Aris wins. Having said that, I would play it X2 in propo (does propo stil exist?).

Nothing you can do about injuries except hope for the best. I am very disappointed that non Greeks are officiating in the SL, no need for this in my opinion. I wonder if anyone was holding a sign, a couple of months back during the Macedonia protests, that read: "Macedonia is Greek, just make sure no one from the Macedonian region officiates my favorite team's games".

In all honesty I am not a big fan of Sousa, plays with a lot of heart but overly aggressive. I'd rather he stays on the bench for this game.

Difficult game no doubt but Aris can not afford to lose this one. PAOK is without a doubt the better team but that doesn't mean we can't beat them or at the very least grab a tie. Personally, I'd like to see Siopis in for Basha because the usual defensive duo might be too slow for this game. I also believe, given the roster make-up, Hamza needs to be in there because of his size and ability to get head balls in a crowd. In these types of games a goal from a set piece could very well be the difference. This squad has to be the most frustrating in recent history. In my opinion, this is the best overall team Aris has put together since the early 80's but they lack the killer instinct. I suppose this is to be expected when you bring in players finishing up their careers. A win next Sunday will be just what the doctor ordered especially since the following two games are against AEK and OSFP.

I try to follow the basketball league but only two teams are legitimate contenders for the title.

Our attacking players need to be more selfish, 1v1 breakdowns create opportunities.

Disappointing!!

Crucial game considering the 3 games following are against the top teams in the SL. Getting a win is going to be hard but not impossible. We have seen enough from this team to know their approach is very business like and they know how to approach each game. I think the challenge in this game will be containing our opponents speed on counterattacks.
