  1. That is the difference between a real soccer league and the banana republic Superleague. I remember when he left PAOK the first thing the German team did was put him on a strict diet and training regiment before he could even play his first game for them.

  2. Maarten Martens had ended his career. He stopped looking for another club after he left us and was not able to find one. He atmitted his body probably wasn't made for top-football as he was injured a lot. But he was glad he had some great moments in his career becoming champion with AZ Alkmaar and participating on the Olympics with Belgium.

  3. Actually next game is tomorrow in Piraeus. Hopefully we can win and win the series on Monday at Palataki. I expect it will be full. After all we are playing Olympiakos. It appears Laola1.TV has all the games live.

  6. @PAOKSYD @Blackhawk Tzavellas has been good enough at CB to get a NT call-up as well as getting scouted by Serie A clubs Sassuolo (twice!) and Atalanta. He may have been a LB most of his career, but he's too slow and can't carry the ball well enough to play the position against legit top-flight competition (imagine him guarding Candreva or Cuadrado in Serie A? Ha!). Vitor was the travesty against Panionios, and in general the team defended poorly in their own 1/3. Everyone had a hand in that debacle.

  7. I think applying our sense of values and morals to someone like Putin is the issue... as much as our 'expectations' of Putin based on our perceptions of 'christian orthodox alliances'... Russia and Putin cares very little for all these brotherhood myths... Greeks spend too much energy expecting some miracle Savior from East to come...

  8. I agree with go bekli last comment.... I strongly believe Modern Greece has done quite well.....if one looks at the 18th or 19th century as a starting point.... a lot of 'what was lost' and 'what should/could have been' is based on romantic misconceptions...If one takes the view that '1453' was unavoidable then we have done well.. the question that can't be answered is what if 1453 did not happen?? my answer is blind and unfounded.....well look at Spain? Italy? Portugal? just as possible examples...
