Finally the dark ages of Greek football is finishing. All that is left is for Paok to rejuvenate Toumba and POA to have a go at Leoforos and fix that up too (if its possible).

My extreme disappointment with Aris new signing and my overall disgust with the SL in general turned me off and I did not watch or listen to the game this past weekend. Under other circumstances I would be thrilled with any victory against PAOK let alone one in which Aris scored 4 goals. Having said that I did watch the replay Almand provided for us, thank you sir. The over analyzation of this contest, not only here but in the media in general, made me curious. I thought it was a well deserved victory and although PAOK out possessed us Aris were the better side. The first half was very poor in quality since both teams were amped up running around like chickens with their heads cut off. The first two goals were similar, bad defending followed by horrible goal tending and our second goal very opportunistic but basically off a set piece. PAOK did have the chance to take a 2-0 lead and a 2-1 one lead but lucky for us their players didn't capitalize. For what it's worth those opportunities presented themselves because of defensive errors that our opponents jumped on and not by any organized attack, as a matter of fact I only recall one of those by them the entire game around the 66th minute when Giannoulis came down the left and crossed it to the Polish forward but Cuesta beat him to the ball. The second half was a different story definitely aided by the goalie's gift 3rd goal to Aris, it really took the wind out of their sails. The fourth goal along with the Fetfa offsides goal both came from great upfield defending by Aris creating breakaway opportunities. I will disagree with you guys here and to answer Emperor's question to me about Oenning's scheme, I thought it was brilliant especially after our new signing came in. The 4-2-4 high press caused PAOK major problems and they had a hard time getting the ball out from their defenders. PAOK was unable to threaten the entire second half aside from the 66th minute attack I spoke of earlier and of course their second goal which was another defensive miscue. To simplify things Aris won because they did a better job taking advantage of the opponents defensive errors. This roster can be very dangerous in games like these where the opponent possesses the ball because it affords them the opportunity to take advantage of their speed, finishing of course is another story. I can't say that any one player stood out but hats off to Larsson for his effort while he was in the game. Question, is it fair to assume there is a mandate from the boss for Ideye to play at all times?

Agia sofia is a pretty dope stadium. Just wish it sat 40k + for European matches and derbies

PAO needs a real deal owner before anything else...AEK and the league going to benefit immensely from a proper home, it has been a long and frustrating ordeal but the dream for all AEK fans is getting so close now, its going to be a huge deal.

I have Antenna Pacific at home so I watch AEK, Panathinaikos, OFI & Larisa home games + all Cup games and have the luxury of recording the games so can watch them without seen the score when I wake up at my time. I have a subscription through Go Greek TV that gives me the other channels to watch the other teams when I have orexi or needs to watch the other games at our early morning hours

The teams you listed (novasport teams) are televised in Australia on either Antenna Pacific or Sport Plus. Lamia, Xanthi, Atromitos and Panaitolikos home games are on ERT and should either be available on ERT World or you can stream them via ERT web site in HD. PAOK home games are on PAOK TV and you will have to either order the season package or individual games to watch their games.

I agree 100%. I prefer Lucescu as well. But the whole point is that these two coaches have different approach to derbies. As you said Lucescu cares only about the (winning) result of his team, and he left the team 'cause he had nothing else to give to PAOK. So, he left with dignity before seeing the weakness of his team. But I go with Fereira mentality. He is better than Lucescu and he tries to give an european style to PAOK on the field and bring more of fans to stadium. The difficult part for him is that several players of his roster are overestimated. So, there is a limit to build the team he wants. I'll say it once again. I liked PAOK the day before yesterday. Their coach gave them an excellent plan to apply on the field that was not possible for Aris to follow that rhythm. But only for 15 minutes. At that point Aris start to play as a team much BETTER than him. So, he had two options: Change plans immediately or on the second half. That was his mistake. The score went to 2-1 and 3-1 on 47'. It was too late for him. Anyway, on this forum we analyze our team Aris and not PAOK. I've mentioned that comment 'cause this match was a game between two different football styles. The one that was based on his players (who are far better than Aris players) and the team spirit that the other one has. As expected, the winner in that case would be the one that had more team spirit than the other. Good luck with the fire out there in Australia. We pray for a good raining for you people.

Hopefully Mystakidis signs there and kicks ass. I always had a soft spot for him but in the last few seasons the level of players we brought to the team has been strong and he hasn't been able to stay in the first team. It is what it is.

almand, the club re-signed Biseswar for 3 years and now his contract expires in June 2022. He is 31 years old so the club absolutely understands his abilities and values him. If anything, Biseswar is getting more game time under the new coach than with Lucescu. I think it will be a very long time before we get a player of similar technical ability. He really is a fantastic player. If he was a bit stronger/faster he wouldn't be playing in Greece. As for all the different analyses, I will defer to Mitsos analysis. It's pretty spot on. As for PAOK, our new coach seems to be from the Martins school of "I want to win and play beautiful at the same time" which has led us to 4 draws and 1 loss in derbies. I personally prefer the practical approach of Lucescu who still had a team that played well enough to win but at the same time you had to spit blood to score a goal against us. We will see what the rest of the season brings.

Well said Mitsos As regards Ideye I believe that he is part of the new of this year style of Aris. On the other hand we don't have similar forward to play with. My opinion. This weekends game is not one that fills me with excitement, but I have had a Greek soccer hiatus for a little while, and am now looking to "get back into it". What do people suggest?

I am not sure what they will do with Leoforos, its a small stadium, very old and not much space to work around it, better off with a new start

Mystakidis might move to Dutch Eredivisie-side De Graafschap. Might be good for him. Greeks tend to adapt good and do well overhere.
