Olympiakos took there chances, thats why they are leading the competition..... Melzanis signings have failed to shine........ Braziliano was the worst signing in the clubs history........ Biscan is not playing his natural role in the team......... Eki can't control the middle of the park by himself....... And there is no consistent team formation week in and week out......... Melazani has been a failure at this club.......... He has been given enough time to shown his worth, no more excuses......... When he came to pao, he lost the protathlima and we were leading the competition and since then, we have continued to slide down....... All these local signings from cypriot league are worthless along with braziliano and croat.......... WE will not qualify for champions league this year and there is a good chance we might miss out on uefa spot...... Vardithogiannis will not sack the melazani because it makes him look like a failure again in the eyes of supporters. And he dosen't want to be told what to do by the press......... That means this will be a black year, probably the worst of worst in the clubs history..... People who beleive the protathlima is still achievable, they shouls see a doctor... In a world where players from anywhere in the world can play for any team in the world, we have a guy who is intent on laying down the rules from where a particular team can attract it’s supporters. They saw how they can garner his following and benefit by making Real more popular by ATTRACTING MORE FANS = MORE DRACHMES! The people of the diaspora for example might not have such a link, but whats the difference? Their money is just as good as an Athenians or Pireotis when it comes to buying a team shirt. Their passion is just high as anyone elses. However when you actually think about it 1 in 2 people in Greece live or work in Greece and therefore they very well have a connection. CH-Thrylos Posted January 17, 2006 Share Posted January 17, 2006 i must agree with akritis about being a fan of a club doesn't have to mean you have your roots from that particular area. i think a lot of times also the family plays a big role in which team you are going to support. sure, there are always "black sheep" who will support the opponent, but most of the times the whole family supports the same team. i got in touch with greek football through my cousin for example. i remember him sitting in his room with the small world radio searching the channel to listen to the matches osfp plays. through him i got to know osfp. with him i went to watch my first match in greece, we went to see the 1-2 versus juve in 99. this is also a way to start and get your favorite team. and after some years i found out that my father, who seemed not being interested in football at all, was supporting osfp too in the past. but he stopped because he once went to a match against pao, during winter when it was raining and then he got such a cold that he couldn't leave the bed for nearly a month :LOL: . but that somehow stopped his enthusiasm for the team. so, even if i'm not from the area of piraeus, not even born in greece, i can say that i'm a gavros apo tin kounia. ;) @ bides: man you have made such a clown of yourself in here. whats that article about michalaki? why should it say anything about gkekas since it is exclusively about konstantinou? i don't see any point in there that supports your statements before. and about konstantinou? i'm glad he scored, but its just his third goal in the league. so what? when the match started i was asking myself who is going to score for us? konstantinou? hell no. okkas? if he's lucky. most of the goals we have scored up to now came from the midfield. our strikers suck. with the money we spent on dani and michalaki we could have brought in a quality striker who could do more than both of them together. sure, he put up a fight up front, but he wasn't the player who brought us the win. he might have fought for the ball that led to the equalizer, but apart from that and his header in the first half he didn't show much. and please get grip on yourself with attacking other members in here. just because someone doesn't share your oppinion or doesn't love your cypriot players as much as you do, doesn't make him uneducated or a moron or anything else. we all live in free, civilised countries and are allowed to state our views.
