plato-ny Posted May 5, 2005 Share Posted May 5, 2005 Pele to visit northern Greek football up-and-comers Brazilian football legend Pele will be visiting the northeastern Greek town of Xanthi, in Thrace, on May 12 to inaugurate the grounds of local favourites Xanthi FC, one of this season's top division success stories. Pele will inaugurate the team's stadium and sports centre on May 12, and will be hosted at the centre's hotel facilities until May 13, the statement said. Xanthi FC have impressed in the Greek championship this season with one of the league's best offenses, powered by 32 year-old Brazilian midfielder Luciano de Souza's fifteen goals. In fourth place with three matches to go, the northerners have already qualified for next season's UEFA Cup. Greek soccer is slowly growing!!!
