I saw the title of this thread and was dreading to read it!

If the lion's share of the clubs' income comes from gate receipts, why are those clubs - and the government - so reluctant to take DECISIVE steps to combat the violence that has plagued the sport for the last 35 years???

Someone explain that to me!

What's even more worrying than that is WHY is the main income from gate receipts?? Dont they have marketing specialists working for the clubs?

For example, there are some excellent (and cheap) players in the far East. Why not buy a couple of Koreans or Chinese players for example (obviously able players spotted by scouts not m*****es) and also arrange summer friendlies over there. That opens oportunities for increased revenue through merchandise sales, advertising, etc.

Also one must consider that there are large Greek communities all over the world. The teams have to try and tap into these markets! I was born and live in the UK and am only one of 2 people I know who was born and raised in England that supports a Greek club! Why dont the teams arrange tours of England, US, Germany, etc. In the process they could give away free tickets to Greek radio stations and other organisations, Greek schools, etc. They could even REALLY go for it hold global trials to find excellent youth that aren't attached to any clubs. For example, in England there is an amateur Greek-Cypriot league (Kopa League). Most players are just very physical and fight for every ball but occasionally there are some real gems. Les Ferdinand (who became a QPR and Newcastle legend and also played for Spurs and England started off at Achna in that league). Ian Wright also had a brief stint in the Kopa League before turning pro. There was another kid who went on to play for Egypt's national team, and numerous players who have made it pro in Cyprus. The point is this would generate interest in the clubs which increases revenue. Unfortunately I'm starting to think that the club presidents have a bunch of ###### monkies working for them whom they pay with peanuts!

XUPNISTE MALAKES!

Because many oqners can't see the big picture. They are ok with what they have and do not want to change
