^ I saw, in passing, an article that was tweeted by one of the PAOK-centric sites that basically said Arnesen was on an unexpected/unannounced trip. This was, I think, the day before Berbatov rumors went nuts. This would 100% fit that. It would also perversely make me feel a lot better to know that Arnesen had a hand in this signing, as we've had enough "going-behind-the-back" stuff around this club.

I half believe this will blow up in our face. Troubles in the locker room, an instant injury, a disinterest in playing. We are PAOK, after all.

I'm reading that we put him on the list two minutes prior to deadline, but the French FA did not fill out the necessary paperwork in time. Who knows how this will play out.

So what I see as our "best" 11 so far... --Glykos-- --Vitor--Costa--Malezas-- --Kitsiou--Cimirot--Kace--Mak-- --Pelkas-- --Berbatov--Klaus-- Berbatov is in good shape, esp for his age, but he is slow. Klaus will have to do most of the running up front. Helps that the rest of the squad has a combined age of 15. More importantly, we have significant depth across the midfield - Kitsiou/Konstantinidis/Skondras/Rodrigues on the right, Mak/Leovac/Korovesis/Jairo on the left, Pelkas/Mistakidis/Sabo/Charisis/Savvidis in an attacking midfield role. There's some real potential there. I wonder if any half-decent CBs are still available as free agents?

I believe last year's CL group stage game, Galatasaray away at Arsenal, resulted in trouble for Galatasaray. Their fans kept throwing smuggled-in flares and so on, more so as the game drew to an end.

Nikitas posted in the Samaras thread that the Cosmos rumor is not true. Honestly, he might be a better option than the other free agents. Free, and probably would be able to start playing in about a month, considering how out of shape he is. On the other hand, his style is the complete opposite of what Tudor/Arnesen value.

Are there any worthwhile out-of-contract players, that would fulfill our needs? Getting a Vukic-type guy would be delightful (for the role that Salpi was intended to play), but we need a guy who can actually start alongside Klaus consistently. We would be terribly thin in options once an injury or fatigue or (obviously) cards come into play. Unless they're thinking Jairo (already suspended) will make this position his own. Anastasiadis tried playing people out of position last year too. It worked for a while. I don't want to see us making this same error again.
