Sunday is the final day of the European Athletics Championship and my goodness I am going to miss it. Such a great event for Greece overall. Can't remember the last time Greece has done so well in any major athletics event. Alright, morning session is the men's and women's marathon Not expecting a medal Men's Pole Vault - Kostas Filippidis can medal, by judging the 11 finalist, guys like Lavillenie, Lisek, Wojchiechowski are all favorites to medal. Duplantis and Morgunov are ones to watch for, they can surprise. This event will be our last hope for a medal. Men's Triple Jump - I am quite surprised Dimitrios Tsiamis make it through the finals at the tender age of 36. He will try to medal, but I don't see it happening. 4 x 100 men's and women's team - Not expecting them to qualify for the finals. Greece hardly do well in relays.

Anagnostopoulou finished 10th in the competition with a mark of 57.34
-
Horrible display from Baniotis, only manage to jump over 2.19 and finish 10th in the competition.
-
Maria Belibasaki won silver medal and broke Fani Halkia's Greek national record in the women's 400 meter of 50.45. Bravo to our Cretan girl! ❤️❤️❤️

In today's 20 km race walk Papamichail finished 15th place Drisbioti finished 13th place In the men's high jump, Baniotis is jumping 3rd in the order. His seasons best is 2.31 (tied for 4th best in Europe). He will need to jump close to his season's best to have a chance to medal. In the women's 400 meter, Belibasaki will be looking to end Greece's medal drought of 12 years in track events. She has a potential since the event is wide open with no clear cut favorites. In the women's discus throw, we can all hope for Anagnostopoulou to have a good showing by finishing 8th or better. Only way she would medal is to throw past her personal best of 61.53, which is not likely going to happen.

Paraskevi Papachristou is the European Champion! Bravo you beautiful babe! 3 gold medal for Greece in Berlin Hoping for number 4 tomorrow from Maria Belibasaki

2 out of 3 Greeks qualified for the finals Skarveli missed out in the women's hammer throw, finishing with a mark of 67.97 Tsiamis is in the men's triple jump finals with a mark of 16.69 Filippidis is in the men's pole vault fnals with a mark of 5.61 The Greek women 4 x 400 relay team did not make it, no surprise there.

The multi-sport event in Glasgow, United Kingdom have 2 Greek swimmers medal so far Apostolos Christou - Bronze in the Men's 100 m backstroke Kristian Gkolomeev - Silver in the Men's 50 m freestyle The only realistic chance of another medal for Greece outside of athletics is Eleftherios Petrounias in the Men's Rings from artistic gymnastics.

My mistake, Belibasaki's race is Saturday, not Friday
-
Tomorrow, we have 2 big events for our Greek athletes in the women's triple jump and women's 400 meter. Papachristou is one of the favorites to medal and if she continues to jump well above 14.40 or more, she has a great chance to claim gold. Belibasaki is competing in her first major track final in any event (no disqualifications this time :D). She looked great in the semifinals and has a very good chance to medal. She will need to run a clean race, hopefully breaking the 51 second barrier.

Stefanidi breaks the European Championship record by going over 4.85 It's officially a 1-2 for Greece in the women's pole vault!
-
Oh my god, 4.80 for Nikoleta!
-
Kyriakopoulou is simply on fire, I never saw this coming!
-
Anagnostopoulou just qualified for the finals in the women's discus throw with a mark of 56.52. Both Alexouli and Ifantidou have performed poorly in both women's long jump and javelin throw. Douvalidis qualifies for the semi-final with a not so impressive time of 13.68 (4th in the heat).
-
Elisavet Peseridou qualifies for the semi-finals with a time of 13.10, finishing 2nd in her heat Paraskevi Papachristou tops the women's triple jump qualification with a mark of 14.49 Lykougos- Stefanos Tsakonas won his heat easily with a time of 20.49 and move on to the semi-finals
-
I believe the last time 3 Greek female athletes reached a final in a major field event was back in 2004 at the Athens Olympic Games where Kelesidou, Voggoli, and Tsikounas all qualified in the women's discus throw. ?
-
I had high hopes for Spanoudaki, maybe her previous heel injury may have affected her sprint.

Mihail Anastasakis will be throwing in group A (12th) The men's hammer throw in the European Championship has changed to 76.00 to automatically qualify. He will need to throw at least 75 meters to go to the finals. His seasons best is 76.53. Nikolas Scarvelis will be throwing in group B (9th) Men's shot put automatic spot is 20.40 and he will be in the finals if he throws at least 19.90 or better. His seasons best is 20.12 Miltos Tentoglou will be jumping in group B (1st) Men's long jump automatic spot is 8.00 and he should be able to achieve this. His seasons best is 8.24 In the 100 m men's, Ioannis Nyfantopoulos will be running in Heat 2, top 2 in the heat go through automatically with the top 5 times. His seasons best (personal as well) is 10.30. He may have a 50/50 chance to go to the semifinals. In the 100 m women's Rafaela Spanoudaki will be running in Heat 3, top 3 in the heat go through automatically with the top 4 times. Her seasons best (personal as well) is 11.27. She should reach the semifinals.

Greek club football going downhill It's all up to Olympiakos, AEK, and PAOK to do their part. -
What a fantastic result!

I see 4 medals for Greece Stefanidi is a lock for sure, only competitor threatening her is Sidorova Papachristou is currently leading Europe this season (14.74) and looks like in fine form, should medal Tentoglou is second in Europe (8.24), he should get his first senior medal after months of improvement Belibasaki is 7th in the 400 m (51.14), she is capable of reaching the finals and maybe medal. She proved in the World Indoor Championship she can compete in the 400. If I have to pick 2 Greek athletes who may surprise us it's both Spanoudaki and Anastasakis
