  1. another 2 goals today.....

DUDE, you might be winnign that bet for top goalscorer ;)

how many is he at total.....I feel like he scores every week now.

Scottish League may not be amazing, but hes getting experience playing and competitng for a championship team, on a respectable large club that also plays in CL.

People were calling for Lambros Who-Blows who has no IQ on the field and has been less than good at finishing latley.

I think other than the top 3-4, most teams in Scotland arent any good. But goals are goals, the goal is same size in every league, and Samaras needs to be finishing, and gaining confidence- hes doing that, and he did play well vs Latvia one of the better games hes ever played in blue....so I see positives coming out to this......enough SPL bashing, I seriously doubt most teams in Greece would breeze past hearts and aberdeen, for gods sake Panionios could barely get past OFK Belgrade, and Aris fell apart against Slaven Belupo who were trash team....so come on, I know Superleague is better, but theres some limits...its still top league european football.....

  2. Bellinzona have done it!

    2-1 vs Dinpro ! :nw:

Theyre a 2nd divsion team, i dont see them getting much further than this. Would be great if they could get in UEFA Groups...

    extremley tough draw ahead either

    Everton

    Galatasray

    Dinamo Bucharest

    Benfica

    Santander

Im hoping for Galatasaray....although Benfica would also be big, as there are a lot of Turks and Portuguese in this area of Switzerland...

  3. I have to agree with these posts. Unfortunately. Its become a "win no matter what" ego trip with money and politics and bulls hit. Sporting events like baseball, softball (thankfully being eliminated in 2012) equestrian, ping pong, bmx, shooting, handball, and for gods sake volleyball, do NOT belong in the Olympics.

Volleyball are you kidding me?!!!? in the same category as the rest? seriously? Volleyball is a major worldwide team SPORT. Of course it deserves to be in Olympics. Beach Volleyball....not so much. But, it is a lot of fun at least, and it is a sport. Shooting air pistols and rythmic gymnastics/riding horses over obstacles arent sports. BMX, is just bull. Theres enough cycling events.

Handball too. Its a great sport, and it is atheltic and competitive. You might as well toss out basketball and football then.

The Olympics without the team sports, would be boring. Lets be honest. Have athletes and teams be able to compete. Handball, Basket, Polo, Volley are team sports. They require athleticsm. Olympics shoould only allow SPORTS.

  4. This crap is embarrassing. I'm not just talking about the Greek Olympic team, but everyone that dopes.  Just because you don't get caught doesn't make it o.k.

What's even more sick is that this is allowed to happen, people turn their heads in the name of profits and nationalism and whatever else they can benefit from a doped up athlete winning gold.

I think being Greek makes me see it being worse than someone else. The beautiful history of inventing the Olympics.  I remember as a little boy telling all my classmates "You know who invented the Olympics? The Greeks..." sounding like Mr. Portokalos from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. There was so much pride about watching the Olympics, even when there were no Greek athletes on the TV, just knowing that all these people are participating in an event that was created by your ancestors.  How cool is that?

But now, being older and wiser, I see all the filth that has tainted the spirit of the Olympics.  I mean the whole idea of the Olympics, bringing all these people together to compete peacefully, putting aside all the m****ies that divide us and seeing who is the best athlete.

Cheating and selectively punishing the smaller countries that aren't as strong, so you can collect as much gold as possible. Sounds more like dirty politics, something that has nothing to do with what the Olympics should be about.

The opening ceremonies, the moment when all the countries of the world march into one stadium, beautiful moment right?  Should be.  What do the commentators talk about for most countries? Population, famous athletes, historical facts, etc.

Unless you're on their s**t list. Then you have millions of people hearing the commentator saying "their President said these controversial remarks" "this country's leader has been anti-this anti-that".  Complete garbage.  The Olympics, the opening ceremonies, should ONLY be about bringing people together to compete peacefully. THAT IS IT.  Like I said, put your m****ies aside. NO POLITICS. NONE. Do that on CNN or Fox News, not on my ancestors cherished event, you selfish pricks with an agenda always on your mind (Yeah, I get pissed).

I've heard that the Ancient Greeks would stop war during the Olympics, or at least allow safe passage to all athletes traveling to the Olympics.  And you got old men deciding to boycott the 1980 and 1984 Olympics.  How selfish is that?  A young man or woman practicing their whole lives for this moment, and guess what, cause some old rich and powerful guys want to "send a message" to the other country, their dream is crushed.

This is what the Olympics has become.  Look at what we are talking about.  This is a thread titled "Greek Olympic Team 2008", and half of the posts are about cheating, doping, politics, wearing diapers, etc.

It's just sad what the Olympics has become and it will only get worse. It wouldn't bother me as much if someone else invented the Olympics. I just feel like the ideals of my history are decaying in front of my eyes when I see what has become of the Olympics.

I hate to be so negative, is there anyone else that feels this way?

    I feel the same way

Its all BS, I feel like too. Its not supposed to be political. But it still is......

Beijing was step one I feel. London is next, and seeing the ceremony, the city, the logo etc.....You get a feeling of how cheap and slutty the Olympic Games have become. Theyre no longer about the honour etc, its about the show, the money,

The Olympics, are a copmlete waste of resources. In "helping the world acheive peace" or whatever - they have spent trillions - on absolutley nothing. A baseball stadium in Beijing. A whole simulated Kayaking slalom in Athens....Useless crap. Environmentally its simply AWFUL affect on the world, becuase its so damn inefficient. Building the same stuff OVER AGAIN every 4 years? If you look at in a broad scale, of spending, impact environment etc, its absolutley a joke.

These new events, are a ###### joke. I watched rythmic gymnastics the other day.....I have to say wow.......Those girls are amazing, and belong in a circus. Giving somebody a GOLD MEDAL and hailing them as a Champions for circus tricks and acrobatics????? Stupid. Table Tennis? Equestrian? Synchronized Swimming? Air Pistol? BMX Biking? Trampoline?

Since the Olympics are private they are fair game to competition. I would love somebody to start up a REAL Olympics. REAL team sports, real individual sports. In the nature of the Olympic Games for a change.

  5. nice job on the timing for the finals by china

make the basketball games at 4/7 in the morning or midnight for the whole western world   the volleyball too...

good riddens to bejing olympics, and london will be awful and uneccesary, but at least they are in a better timezone!

This is probably the most ethnocentric post I've ever read!
ethnocentric isnt really the word id use..its an opinion, that Beijing put no thought into timing their events for the rest of the world who watches them - and its not like it would have come at the expense of their own viewers in Asia - whatsoever.

these events are DOMINATED by european and american teams.

there was absolutley no reason they couldnt have picked a better time for the basket finals, one that would be suitable for the 2 teams playing in it.

Tell me why Spain and USA has to start at 6 AM...Midnight USA???

That game HAD to be at 12 PM China time? it HAD to be that early in the day? BS.

I seriously have nothing againts British as hosts. But i do think London is a horrible place for the Olympics, its dangerous, its crowded transportation, expensive, and generally, the city does not NEED an Olympic games - its London. And so far, the ceremony that they had for London was bizarre/incredibly STUPID (the people running around dancing aimlessly, spending 10 minutes to have a little girl walk on some peoples backs to get on a bus?? WfT??? - what hte hell does that have to do with English culture? That Logo? its the ugliest logo in the games history.

    Why not another British city?

  6. nice job on the timing for the finals by china

  7. Gekas is red hot form again. Where was this form during the euro??

Btw did he start this game?

    what are you kidding???!

Im sorry, but the criticsm of Gkekas in the Euro was totally outrageous. Not saying you paxioti Im saying other people in general...totally make stupid claims and critiscms of Gkekas that make simply no sense, hes the only real striker Greece has - finishes, makes good runs, great in the air, and doesnt get pushed around and has a nose for goal.

Gkekas played less than 75 mins that whole tournament. Not only was he taken off at halftime (as if he was somehow responsible) vs Sweden, while the team was passing back and forth for 45 mins and hitting no more than an occasional long ball not even Drogba would do anything that game for us.

The Russia game, the guy came on as a sub ran his ass of and even made tackles and helping out in the back, not to mention his ONSIDE run was what pretty much got us the equalizer, that "didnt count". Its not like Katsouranis and Basinas did anything to showcase their attackers abilities, not even so much as a decent pass or helping run from them.

People also seemed to come to the conclusion that he was "benched" all year with Levekusen, which is total bull too, if anybody cared to look at statistics - not starting 10/10 games doesnt make you a bench player...

  8. no offense but who cares about what NZ is doing...number of people isnt important. Look at India...Hell Turkey has more population of Greece in 1 city, and theyve got 1-2 more medals?

Greeks doped- every country dopes. Were just getting caught.

  9. I read yesterday that one of the athletes caught on performance-enhancing drugs was a shooter (skopeftis).

How on earth do drugs enhance the performance of a shooter?

maybe muscle relaxant? hold the gun steadier?
  10. I know, I was just kidding. I was thinking of fixing up my computer, but I got a laptop that wasn't really designed for gaming. It would of cost too much to get it up to that level and I don't even know if it's capable of performing that well anyways.

The main reason I chose PS3 over Xbox 360 is that you need to pay a monthly fee for online play, it's not much, but it adds up over the year, while PS3 is free online.

I have a 50 in. Samsung High Definition projection TV from a couple years ago, and right before I got the PS3, the damn bulb in the TV went out. I'll be getting it fixed soon though, can't wait to test it out. I really want to see what this BluRay business is all about.

For now I just got a normal 25 in. TV but I got it hooked up to a 5.1 surround sound with a big subwoofer, and I don't think I'm too popular with the neighbors right now. Ever since I started playing Call of Duty 4, I've seen signs posted in my building saying "Quiet Time After 10 PM"

Yeah, I've seen commercials for those game rentals. I think there are no late fees, which is great. I can hold on to a game until I finish it. I'll check it out.

    50 inch HDTV :nw:

    pity about the bulb...

i think (not sure) that also graphics/resolutions of your PS3 games will be better on an HDTV, so I have heard. You'll need an HDMI cable I think to get the full effect (and to get the BluRay working on their too)

and the 5.1 stereo touch nice job. I bought one of those 5.1 systems for PC and theyre awesome, partic if you can find wall mouts and extension cables you can set them up around your room surrounds sound at a nice price.

  11. hey im not saying PS3 is crap man no way. The thing looks like a hell of a nice system.

Im just saying I can track consoles, the PC just makes more sense has more functionality......

Also you have not only a game system but a BluRay player in the PS3.......which is pretty sweet.

Not sure if you are in north america, but they have game rental stuff these days like Netflix Gamefly i think its called. Its best to subscribe IMO instead of having to buy new games all the time. I used netflix last year and its quite an awesome service, if they have for computer games too it would definitly be worth the money IMO. Gotta look into it.

What kind of TV do you have it hooked up to? Do you have an HD?

  12. true those games are real class. Shame they dont make PC versions (at least till much later). they are like a movie, but seriously better. IMO if i had to make a top game of all times list, theres no way Metal Gear wouldnt make it, and ive only played the first 2.

Thing I dont get about consoles is, theyre basically aspiring to be PC's right??????

Whats the point? These consoles are going to cost more and more for hardware/cabilities/software when PC has all the components anyways, plus you can use it and upgrade it yourself. It just dont make sense.....

I mean now you can do features on your console that a PC does.....and vice versa you can get external hardware for your PC that a console uses......Theyre really going to be virtually the same thing they are both computers, integrating into each others's advantages faster and faster....

But the consoles do have advantages - no installs, guaranteed performance specs for everygame, simple useage etc. Nowadays you can hook up your computer to new televisions too though....So in theory you could create a console/computer system in your living room.....If I ever win the scratchoff lottery :P id trick the hell out of my PC to make it games/internet/music/home theatre system in one :1eye:

But back to topic: the PS3 seems very impressive...costs are high for software and movies and the system, but its basically a home entertainment peice.

If you have an HD TV BlueStriker I know its compatible with the right cables, and it plays BluRay Discs....
