  1. The Fetfa topic has been exhausted. There is no legitimate reason why he should't get a call up. Skibbe is doing well but some of his selections are baffling. If he is trying to build depth and unity leading up to a world cup, he is doing it with the wrong subs.
  2. This team always names their captain based on caps. Out of the available players vs Estonia: Tziolis 64 Maniatis 47 Karnezis 42 Manolas 29 Samaris 28 Fortounis 26 Papadopoulos 25 Seeing that Tziolis and Maniatis will likely start on the bench, Karnezis will wear the arm-band.
  3. I mean how far off is even Ninis, who plays first flight Belgium, from getting a shot when guys like Bakasetas and Diamantakos are virtually shoe-ins in the squad. I get that Skibbe has his comfort players, but this is becoming ridiculous. Take a chance with some subs it can pay off.
  4. Even with regard the aerial game, 6'2 and 6'4 respectively give us some good presence and that sometimes goes a long way. Just look at Tachtsidis springing Mitro off a won header on the goal vs Belgium.
  5. Gianniotas got called up and he is not even in the Olympiacos squad, yet Fetfatzidis is not even considered. That is downright offensive.
  6. He just signed for a club in Israel. I don't think he has a place in a NT no matter his form.
  7. How can Retsos even be considered over KPap, who is a better CB and has loads more experience?
  8. Hard to imagine that he could't get a deal with a first division Greek club or at least his hometown club OFI Crete who play second division. He is only 32 and one of the biggest names in Greece post-Euro 2004 and would be a great signing for any Greek club from a marketing standpoint. This is surely an issue of money for the most part. Turkish teams pay and he is at the end of his career. Although I do faintly remember reading that he said in an interview that he never wants to play football in Greece due to how corrupt it is.
  9. Bosnia plays too much of an aggressive attacking style to be held up by inferior opponents that don't have much to fight back with. Bosnia struggles when they also have to worry about their defense. They will beat Cyprus handily.
  10. I think if it wasn`t for his untimely injuries and suspensions we would have seen him in that position more often. I for one really support a 3 CB formation. We have the mobile full-backs and 3 top class CBs, I don't get why we have not given this a shot. This is what I would field: ------------------------------------Karnezis---------------------------------------- -------------------Manolas Papadopoulos Sokratis------------------ Torosidis-----------------------------------------------------------Stafylidis ---------------------Samaris-------------------Tachtsidis--------------------- ------------------------------------Fortounis------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------Donis--------------------------------------- ------------------------------------Mitroglou-------------------------------------
  11. Dean, he has already played him on DM before a couple of times.
  12. Despite KPaps disciplinary issues - and I do agree he needs to control himself better - I think he is our best option at DM1. He is top class defensively, can win the ball, good in the air, strong on his feet, skilled at defending set-pieces and at supporting the CBs. He also has the guts to make some forward runs and be a real aerial thread on our set-pieces. Maybe most importantly though, his confidence, hunger, enthusiasm, and toughness is contagious. The way I see it, his teammates feel bigger, better and stronger when he is on the pitch and his opponents feel smaller. It's very much psychological but I think his presence is paramount and he should be a lock at DM when everyone's healthy.
  13. Gianniotas just got cut by Olympiacos' new manager.
  14. Multiple reports that PSG is gunning for Manolas now.
  15. Respectable move all things considered.
  16. Word is that he is in Athens undergoing a medical to join Olympiakos.
  17. Manolas did not show up to Russia today due to an apparent disagreement with Zenit. Hope this is true and he moves to a suitable league.
  18. Roma is consistently top 3 in Serie A. Bunlesiga is dominated by Bayern even more than Serie A is by Juventus, but German league is still revered.
  19. Newcastle finished 1st in the Championship and have been promoted to the EPL for the upcoming season. Not a bad move if it materializes. Club is a downgrade but league is big upgrade. No CL though.
  20. Roma is a bigger club than Zenit in every way shape and form.
  21. If he stays healthy, he is bigger than Hamburg. Glad to still see him in a respectable club though.
  22. Sad to see one of the most respected Greek players ever move to football's abyss in the prime of his career. He and Sokrati are Greece's biggest ambassadors, and now one of them will just disappear to Russia instead of moving to an even bigger club. Zenit plays in CL? Big deal! So they get a couple of games vs European teams at odd hours when no one is even tuning in. At this point, might as well sellout for even more cash in Saudi or China and be just as relevant.
  23. It is reported that he signed a 3-year permanent deal with Hamburg. He's better than that club in its current form, but it could have been worse. Remaining in Bundesliga is a success on its own.
