  7. Enough! Pele's goals are listed one by one on his biography. You will find them all legitimate. As for those superstars he was surrounded by, name me ONE player from 1961 - 1962 FC Santos you can think of! Not one Careca, not one DeNapoli, not one Giordano! Argentina won the 1986 WC because: 1. France and Brazil eliminated each other in probably the best WC game I ever saw. 2. West German defenders failed MISERABLY in playing the offside trap. 3. The defence of England gifted them a place in the final In 1990 they showed their true colours...
  8. India pulled out in 1950. Pele popped up on the scene in 1958 in Sweden. The votes that Maradona is getting is mostly from younger people as he is the last of the superstars that have hit the scene. The rest of the players on my list retired before that. Look at old clips of Di Stefano and you will think that it's Maradona playing, only perhaps he was a bit cheekier with the ball. As for Pele, what he could do with the ball - and his own body - has not been replicated yet.
  9. OK, once again (as I have argued this point for years now): Maradona reminded me very strongly of Alfredo Di Stefano. Diego Armando had more success at a national level, Alfredo at a club level. Skillwise, they were identical. When Di Stefano played, he was considered second best to Ferenc Puskas, who in fact, was considered in those days the best footballer in the world. Pele came along and Puskas lost his crown. Since that time, Eusebio came along and was imo better than Puskas. Cruyff came along and was, without a doubt, better than Eusebio. My point: 1. Pele 2. Cruyff 3. Eusebio 4. Maradona -. Di Stefano
  10. Good luck to our boys in the final but I'm probably the only one here who has some regret: Why couldn't they have done all this HERE last time around? :(
  11. Stay out of my estate, bre! :P
  12. Thanks guys but it was a rough night with my live score site out of commission and UEFA.com not coming up! So we meet an Iberian team again in the final of a European tournament...It's deja vu all over again!
  13. Anyone know the score of France - Spain? My live score site seems to be out of commission! :(
  14. Bravo! What else can I say? Bravo!
  15. Someone check up on that. I thought the new rules of UEFA state that a person can switch allegiance between youth squads and the senior squad.
  16. Bravo to Gekas! :) I hope his club career takes off and that he becomes successful also for the Greek NT. :gr:
  17. Something is very different here: Mexico has dropped substantially and the US are off the list! Have FIFA finally realised the error of their ways???
  18. ...don't forget the Lebanese who have been joining us to cheer Marcos on. Not bad getting to the semi's! :)
  19. Number 2 seed Nadal is next...Good luck Marco!!!
  20. No shame in losing to Federer in the final! :) One thing for sure: Baghdatis has put Cyprus on the tennis map. Btw, love the way he wears the NT jersey off the court! Truly one of us even if his father is a Maronite from what I hear. :gr:
  21. So vat am I, chopped liver? The nice thing about the wiki is that the contributor gets to colour events his way: call Nestoridis "the greatest ever", praise Simitis (or even the King), etc., etc.! ;)
  22. The U-19 competition was won by France which defeated a much inferior English team 3-1, under poor weather conditions (14C and continuous rain). The English went ahead in the first half against the flow of play but the French came roaring back with three in the second half for a very well-deserved victory.
