  1. Not sure about genius but definitely the scapegoat for the disaster that is the Ethniki. Clowns like Karagounis, Katsouranis and Vydra should take far more responsibility for what's happened. Ranieri is long gone but the illiterate and narrow minded are still on about him. Let it go you dinosaurs!
  2. ^ Asteras in the Champions League sounds great!
  3. I'm beginning to like him too.
  4. The A-League is inferior to the GSL. The standard of players the A-LG attracts is Beta Ethniki standard at best. Glossy highlights packages and small boutique rectangle stadiums that are 2/3 full doesn't suggest that the standard is even close to the Cypriot league let alone the GSL. The A-LG has 10 teams and 6 of those teams are at an amateur level. There's no relegation/promotion and the same players get recycled through the various teams. With all the problems that exist in the Greek league and yes there are many and in many ways the standard is going backwards, it's still at least 15 years ahead of the A-LG, Norwegian, Danish, Czech, Scottish, Polish, Swedish, Slovak, Israeli and 25 other European leagues which I'm not going to mention.
  5. The thing is there has to be some objective measure on the standard of the Greek Super League away from bias and perceptions. For every one person who defends the quality of the GSL (let's use me as that person) there are 5 other people who dismiss it. Most of these critics wouldn't have a clue about the quality of the Greek league. If the GSL was as poor as what the naysayers think it is, then Antonis will be a boss in the PAOK midfield as he was for Sydney FC in the A-League. Basically the way Nathan Burns tore it up at AEK! Oh wait...he never did! He was one of the best in last years A-League though.
  6. ^ agreed. A good kid. Model professional. All he ever wanted to do was be a professional player. Mourinho definitely noticed him in the recent friendly but it will be tough for him in the GSL.
  7. Alithia? Now I look the goose because these mongoli/turkmeni are named so similarly! Smash them with my blessing!
  8. Good post Paotrella. They can paint the field a Turkish flag and it wouldn't/shouldn't matter or bother the players. I'd like PAO to beat them 8-0 over the 2 legs but unfortunately this isn't going to happen. Last year Inter could barely get over them in the Europa group stages. In fact this team achieved a similar record to Asteras. 1 win 3 draws 2 losses.
  9. HT. PAOK 4-0. Keep it going, koritsia.
  10. I've got all the time in the world for you...when you come up with one I'll be here waiting.
  11. You're a treasure to these forums Pash! Such a beautiful soul. If only more of us could be lie you.
  12. Pereyra possibly to Iraklis. Anyone heard this?
  13. I hope that Tsanas' appointment is temporary and that someone like Michel becomes the coach.
  14. I actually believe that Postecoglou if given free reign would be a great coach for the Ethniki. Sadly it will never happen.
  15. Yeah. Good luck to thems beetches!
  16. He may have moved on. I heard it on the weekend at the Oakleigh kafeneio.
  17. I heard he's working in a suburban 7/11 in Melbourne. Might pick up a taxi shift on weekends too.
  18. 'Almond' operation? Amygdales? The translation didn't work.
  19. Anastasiadis is not fit for the job. I read yesterday that the only reason Malezas didn't sign for PAOK last season when he returned from Germany was because of Anastasiadis. He demanded that a buyout clause be inserted in to the Panetolikos contract so that if Anastasiadis was to leave then he could approach PAOK to trigger the release. Sounds like the guy is an old world coach who manages like he was managed when he was a player.
  20. Cimirot sounds like a good player. I don't think PAOK will sign both him and Antonis from Sydney FC which leads me to think that the rumours about Antonis are exactly that. Australian media has been making up a lot of stuff lately. It might happen I guess but I think Cimirot is more likely.
  21. ^ you mean the most obvious and clumsy penalty ever? Yeah I saw it and the referee got it 100% right. Not sure being biased helps.
  22. Yeah that's fair enough. The Vazeles are not a great team. PAOK are building something that might just surprise us.
  23. He's a starting attacking-midfielder/winger for Australia. He scored the wimning goal against South Korea in the Asia Cup final. He's Greek. Bought by Juventus but never played for them. He's got skill and speed but he wouldn't set the Greek Super League on fire.
  24. A few weeks ago I was unimpressed with the lack of perceived quality from the signings that AEK made (not that I really cared tbh) but with Didac Vila and Buonanotte this AEK team may well finish in the European places.
