  1. has signed for monaco along with tziolis on a 6-month loan. these players arent good enough to play in the first division in france and germany??
  2. last day of the transfer period and olympiakos are being heavily linked with hleb and kazim-kazim after marinaki said that no signings will be made..the hleb ruomours seem more realistc to me. i doubt gala will let go of one of their starting players on loan with the option to buy for only 1 million. hleb is 32, without a club and injury prone...he has been a flop since his days at arsenal..he could be a good signing if he stays fit but i doubt he will be anything too special...he is a player i really liked at arsenal, maybe he can come here and replicate some of that form but to me, it is a gamble signing. hey, ive got an idea, instead of taking a gamble like hleb, why doesnt valverde just start playing fetfatzidi some more... <_< im sure many olympiako fans will be wondering the same thing...
  3. apparently both tzioli and tzavella are very close to signing for french ligue 2. club monaco. they sit in the relegation zone of the second division but were recently just acquired by a very wealthy russian i believe who promised the fans champions league football in 4 years.... lets see...
  4. scored another fantastic header today in schalke 3-1 win vs stuttgart taking his club tied on points with bayern for first place...
  5. javito gone on loan in turkey zaradouka gone on loan to pas diogo was brought back yeste was released rumour has it abdoun, monje and costanzo are next... sometimes i wonder what valverde is thinking and who exaclty is making these signings at oly.
  6. has not played since boxing day as it seems moyes is not convinced although he has scored 3 so far this season with little time. everton also recently picked up donovan on loan, which puts him further down the pecking order...despite this he grit his teeth and scored a first half hat trick in the latest reserve match... i hope to see him playing first team again, he is surely one for the future, maybe not ready for euros this year, but soon.
  7. no offense GS but i think this is a really poor move for gekas. first of all, frankfurt i believe are a better team than samsunspor. the level of the turkish league is not that much better than the greek league, so him playing for them is about the equivalent as him playing for a club like ARIS or XANTHI. the ONLY reason i see why he made the move was either salary related, or bc he wants to be in better form for the EUROS this summer. i think he could have easily moved to a better league and a better club. no clubs in the bundesliga wanted him? doubtful.... the club will probably be relegated this season and he will move on again, confirming his status as a wandering player... i think he could have done much better...
  8. came on as a first half sub in santanders 0-0 draw at home to sociedad... racing sit in the relegation zone and will be fighting to stay alive..maybe the new manager rates him...
  9. scored another great header in Schalke's 5-0 rout of Werder this weekend taking them tied with borussia in 2nd place, 3 points behind bayern... sokratis, did not play in this one
  10. scored his first of the season and the 1st goal in bremen's 4-1 win v wolfsburg.. he has had an impressive season so far with 14 starts in 16 league matches as werder sit 5th in the league, with 2 points seperating them from 2nd and 5 from bayern at the top...
  11. scored two goals today in eintrachts 2-0 win vs karlsruher taking his talley to 7 in the league and 9 goals in all matches...this win took frankfurt top of the 2. bundesliga table
  12. scored a fantastic header in schalkes 2-1 victory at home to steaua. reports indicate man utd and man city amongst afew names have shown serious interest in him... if man utd came knocking, it would be hard for him to say no..that would be a great move considering ferguson is on the prowl for young good talent and he actually uses them...at man city, he would ride the bench if that....
  13. who knows...he had a scuffle with cuper over playing time but now that he got the sack, tziolis might get on better w the new manager....
  14. vellios came on vs bolton in the 74th minute and scored in the 78th that takes his tally up to 3 goals for the season, actually making him the clubs top scorer so far this season
  15. vellios came in today vs chelsea in the 81st minute and scored immediately. a very nice finish after he got on the end of a nice cross. hopefully these two goals will help him gain more minutes..moyes seems to show faith in him..
  16. giannakopoulo was the only true success in the prem. he became a leader at that club, not only through his very good play, but also his attitude and mentality.. his stats in league play alone-- 03-04--31 app--2 goals 04-05--34 app--7 goals 05-06--34 app--9 goals 06-07--23 app--0 goals 07-08--12 app--2 goals thats not counting all his appearances in europe, and domestic cup matches, where he had some very good performances..although an ex-oly player, i felt proud watching him play in england...he was one of the few that gave us a good name in that league...
  17. i typically dont watch the 2. bundesliga, but i would assume its a little bit of both...
  18. scored again yesterday in frankfurts 3-1 victory over union berlin.
  19. my feelings are kind of right in the middle of both of yours. i dont think samaras is a bad player, i actually think he is quite skilled, probably one of the most naturally skilled on the NT. he has other problems that need to be addressed...i think the problems really all relate to his current club situation... his stay at celtic has been over for quite some time now...no one really wants him there or have really wanted him there since the start...he has always gotten ALOT of slack despite coming to the club at 22-23 with the need for support and development, which both have been stagnent these last couple of years...i remember his first year at celtic and even younger he worked hard..fought for the ball, seemed more focused on the clubs success, he has really fallen out with the club and has developed poor habits and a very poor attitude...in my eyes, his cons are things that can be taught and changed, his pros are thing that cannot be taught..he is lazy and uninspired and doesnt care about his clubs success and has developed these habits and brought them to his national team form as well...he isnt focused, and has no drive or passion...i think these are habits he has created though, that can potentially be broken.. he needs to change clubs and to have a manager that will kick at his ass and get him working for the team...he needs a fresh start at a competitive club..i believe he could play for a mid to upper level team in both italy and france, he has the skill, he just needs to work on his WORK ETHIC. he is 26 now, which is a good age, he is getting to the point tho, where he needs to begin to hit his peak, i think the ONLY way it may possibly happen is if he leaves celtic, even then it may be difficult...he needs a mental electroshock. basinas was quite lazy at times during his career...on and off during his seasons at pao and after his first season with mallorca basically to the end of his career...he also often played that role on the team...in that position a player may look "lazy" but may be extremely important to the team...pirlo for instance, or even gilberto silva in a different capacity..you rarely see pirlo hustling for the ball, but he is a key resource in every team...i think thats why basina got alot of crap from pao fans, and it wasnt balanced out by natural skill (like pirlo) bc he didnt really have that much of it...i believe he was another player wrongly slated by pao fans, but at times, yes, he definitely was lazy...
  20. i think his rights are still owned by leverkusen and he is just on loan to kaiserslautern. can anyone confirm this?
  21. played the full 90 last night vs real in their 0-0 draw and played very well, doing a good job in a deep midfield position. apparently cuper sung his praises after the match..not bad for a midfielder who is not quite 100% fit yet...lets hope he continues and builds on this performance...he is still 26 and still has time to improve and mature his game...
  22. http://www.goal.com/en/news/1718/team-of-t...-schweinsteiger doesnt mean so much as sometimes goal.com have..strange ratings, but good to see he is recapturing his form..it would be nice to see him get back to his best in germany...werder are tied for first currently with bayern..
  23. apparently galatasaray reps are in athens to try and negotiate about riera.. their transfer period was delayed until the 5th i believe and aparently they are offering him a 1. something million more a year than his contract with oly and will be offering a sum above 3 million to the club... lets see if they are just rumors...
  24. a fair move for him...hopefully he can continue to improve...
