  1. As far as Albania goes, if I'm Albanian, I really don't care how they qualified. Albania has never qualified for a major tournament, I would be damn proud to see Albania in a Euro. Are they ACTUALLY better than Denmark? No. Did some shady things happen to get Albania in? Maybe, but to say the Albanians shouldn't be proud? I don't think they care, nor should they.

  2. This might be the biggest match in the history of the Cypriot national team. If Cyprus can win this one at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina at the GSP in Lefkosia, and Israel doesn't win in Belgium, Cyprus will escape their group and earn a 2 game playoff to maybe qualify for their first major tournament. PAME KYPRO!

  3. Gutted, was at least hoping they get to the playoffs. Don't think I'll be bothering to watch the Euro Championships now.

  4. Kopa Amerika! Intertoto! Very funny. These guys nailed it. I like how Claudio Ranieri "liked" it too.

  7. The standard of the league is a concern but its nit Asteras' fault. Asteras (yes I'm biased) have earnt their place in the GSL and Europe and are a force in Greece. Tell Besiktas and Partizan Belgrade what they think of Asteras. This year the club has a shocking injury crisis yet they are still competitive. They also have Greek players that are improving. Giannou, Fountas and Kourbelis are on the periphery of the Ethniki and are not far off from being selected. They don't need to be playing for a 1990s Era Big 3 club to prove that they are good enough. The fact that that they come from a small town is a strength to the GSL. Do we need 10 clubs from Athens? Akratitos, Apollon Athinon, Athinaikos, Panionios, Egaleo, Kalithea, Thrasyvoulos etc only ever make up the numbers. They aren't improving the standard for which you are continually jumping up about. Historical clubs like AEK returning are helping the standard of the league. It's only a matter of time before ARIS and Larissa and potentially OFI get themselves sorted and return however there is a place for Xanthi and Asteras. If they are getting results then their place in the league is justified. So it's a mute point. Stop banging on about it.

  8. It's up to them to take his spot. If they don't end up starting over him, then I guess I'll have to accept that he's really the best we have.

  9. Next coach has to be smart, tough and ensure that the next generation of players knows what it is required to play for NT. On and off the park. Zero tolerance in my opinion. What I saw in the Hungary game was that we have talent, players that can run for 90 min. I saw a youthfull team given the freedom to play and attack the opposition, which they did very well. There was nothing riding on the game, but it is these sort of games that you find your next incumbents. Right or wrong, there have been 53 players tried in this campaign and the new coach needs to fnd a squad of 20-23 players to take us forward.

  10. Torontoblue you are spot on about Portugal. Their youth setup is the best in Europe. They did dominate Sweden in the final and couldn't score. Sweden held out for penalties and won. Portugal should be our blueprint going forward.
