AC Omonoia became the second Cypriot team to claim a Greek scalp in as many days after earning a 2-2 draw against nine-man AEK Athens FC in the decisive leg of their UEFA Cup second qualifying round tie to record a 3-2 aggregate victory.

More celebrations

A day after Anorthosis Famagusta FC completed a 3-1 aggregate victory against Greek champions Olympiacos CFP to reach the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round, Omonoia sparked further celebrations in Cyprus. They will now look to become the second local side to make it to the group stage of a major UEFA club competition this season.

Duro opener

Leading 1-0 from the first leg in Athens, Albanian midfielder Klodian Duro put the hosts ahead on ten minutes after he struck home a Hamad Ndikumana cross which AEK midfielder Angelos Basinas had failed to clear. Trailing 2-0 on aggregate, AEK attempted to press forward but it was the hosts who missed a great chance minutes later as the excellent Duro's free-kick was flicked onto the crossbar by Sebastian Saja.
