Ireland, contending for a finals spot in a major tournament for the first time since 1986, are facing two away games within five days: The first is in Riga against Latvia who have only one victory to their credit: a 4-0 demolition of Iceland. N. Ireland have a complete squad - including captain Aaron Hughes - though they are without the services of Roy Carroll who retired from international football. It seems like the favourites won't have an easy time of it: Sweden only drew with Denmark and Spain are right now down to 10 men as of the 19th minute v. Iceland.
