After todays performance for AEK I dont want to see bakakis in NT for a while.. unless he picks it up.

you probably missed that bakakis' natural position is a right back while today he played as a winger..a healthy and on form stafylidis is our best players in this position but it's unlikely he'll have played any games by the time we get to face hungary and finland. lykogiannis was ok, not spectacular but no bad as people think.

    what skibbe needs to do is to play natural wingers and not attacking midfielders out of their position. so i hope for line up of;

mparkas, stafylidis, sokratis, manolas, lykogiannis, kourmpelis, zeca, lazaros, fortounis, donis, mitroglou.

bench; karnezis, mpakakis, oikonomou, retsos, torosidis, samaris, bouchalakis, fetfatzidis, pelkas, mantalos, karelis.

  2. there are good and bad news in both cases. the good news that skibbe now is forced to win so that would have us leading the table and he has no room to drop any points and if he does that he's fired. the bad news is that if he wins we stick with him (i'd prefer winning at the moment, losing games to we CAN win in order to get rid of him is pathetic, i value winning more than this guy and we don't have the luxury to lose any games. also in case he's fired it means another mediocre coach will replace him so basically it's mpros gkremos kai pisw rema.

  3. pelkas got lost in the wings. couldn't get the ball and overall make himself relevant. i saw him many times running at the midfield and often there were 2 players centrally and our only winger was lazaros. that's not his fault of course, but skibbe's one. one more, to be specific. im not saying he's not a good player, in fact i do like him a lot but donis and lazaros are natural wingers while pelkas and mantalos are attacking midfielders.

anyway, samaris got his first minutes this season, came in as a sub in the 60th minute for benfica. finally...

    stafylidis and retsos still injured.

sokratis as usual started for arsenal

karnezis got an unexpected start for napoli and he kept a cleen sheet.

  4. we were unlucky against hungary. it's not like our defence was horrible overall, these moments always happen. we should have won at least 0-2, the home team didn't get past midfield in the second half and had 7 shots on target, 5 of which came the in this memorable second goal.

i believe we'll beat them at home as we'll do with estonia and finland in athens. key game will be against finland away, if we win this i say we top the group with 5 wins.

  5. You can't blame the centre backs when you concede such goals. Even the best of defenders will get to concede, it's unrealistic to expect a clean sheet in every game. Tzavellas takes the blame for the horrendous defending in the second goal, his position is not covered up and moments after that he gets beat by his opposition which lead to an uncontested shot by the Hungarian player.

  6. our cbs were in no fault in these beautiful goals. tzavellas is to blame in both of them, as well as our midfield in the second one.

i agree stafylidis is useful but he doesn't play in augsburg and i doubt this will change in the next month. he can only hope for a trasnfer on december since his contract is up next summer. same goes for samaris, otherwise both of them would be a part of the team.

zeca and mpakakis will be back from their injuries as well as karelis will.

i hope we have no other injuries for the upcoming games.

  7. belarus or luxembourg will do it from group d

as for us i still think we will win our group. basically the october games will 90% decide it, since we host hungary and play away against finland. we must win both these games and then it's pretty much settled, having finland and estonia for the last 2 games at home shouldn't be a hard task.

but that's all up to skibbe and his weird selections.

  8. unlike many people wrongly think, as it always happens when we lose, we definitely didn't deserve to lose there and the game could have easily been a 0-2. but once again we couldn't capitalize our chances, hungary parked the bus the whole second half and as a result they got the win. i heard people saying hungarian players were better both tactically and individually and i really wonder if these guys suffer from astigmatism or something.

yeah no doubt skibbe deserves much critisicm for his choices in both games, against estonia the line up with fortounis/pelkas/mantalos was awful and then he goes off with subbing in bakasetas, having 4 playmakers and no wingers or strikers is something you'd expect from a beginner coach in amauter level. as for the second game tzavellas starting had me vommiting, while donis is not a striker and he burnt him there.

despite that i truly believe we are able to win all of our next games, or at least win 3 of them at home and take a draw against finland. we look better at the offensive part and create chances to score more than we often do. i just hope we'll have zeca for the next games next to kourmpelis, as well as mpakakis instead of torosidis. i would also like to have stafylidis and samaris but i think both of them have fallen out of favour in their clubs so unless something changes and they get playing time i doubt they will be around, which is awful. on the bright side we'll have karelis and retsos back for sure.

galanopoulos, tsimikas and limnios could surely help us but will stick with the u21 for their most important game in their qualifcation against croatia.

  9. skibbe said that donis had a minnow injury and that's what he didn't play, much like zeca and mpakakis. i expect all of them to start against hungary.

btw already for this 2 qualifiers we have many absenses around the team. stafylidis, retsos, mpakakis, papadopoulos, zeca, donis, even mitroglou and bouchalakis who got injured during the game as well as galanopoulos who is suspended and karelis, samaris, gianniotas who are out of form.

    in the next game i expect;

    mparkas

    mpakakis sokratis manolas lykogiannis

    zeca kourmpelis

    lazaros fortounis donis

    mitroglou

  10. saw the squad, overall it's good although there are some players missing who could improve us a lot.. goalkeeper stergiakis got injured, galanopoulos is booked (hence he's not on the senior nt as well), koulouris will play with the senior team etc. i think chatzigiovannis who's starting for pao and mouscron who's starting for a team in belgium could get called up as well.

either way im confident they can beat czech republic and if no injuries or so against croatia next month, perhaps can take the so much needed draw. croatia have plenty of guys that already play in a high level so it will be hard. if only for the mistake of our goalkeeper last november we would have won them and would have already qualified...

  11. and i just read the possible line up for tomorrow's game according to some sporting sites.

    karnezis

    torosidis sokratis manolas lykogiannis

    zeca bouchalakis

    donis fortounis mantalos

    mitroglou

i almost felt unconsious seeing bouchalakis over kourmpelis and mantalos over lazaros. i would punch skibbe right away, my nerves hitting me.

GOD FORBID HOW THE FCVK THIS GUY GETS PAID?

  12. wasn't bakakis excluded from the squad? good news if he hasn't, i expect him to start. the other back should be lykogiannis and it will be a crime if he isn't. i don't know what more tzavellas will provide. he doesn't cut it anymore. he's slow to play as a left back, doesn't offer anything offensively and often he gets abused by his opponents, just watch his abysmal defending in gibraltar's goal (1-4) and that was roughly 2 years ago..

the rest i agree even though i hope mparkas starts instead of karnezis. skibbe said he didn't call up samaris because he has fallen out of benfica's rotation but karnezis doesn't start in napoli either. not saying he's a bad keeper however we need to take care of the future and karnezis is 33..

Bouchalakis should be given a shot to start. He’s playing lights out. Zeca shouldn’t be called up at all. He’s not Greek. Never will be. I guess I’m old school and have a problem with that.

have you watched oly recently? bouchalakis is the worst player on the team by a mile when he plays, olympiakos surrendered the midfield against burnley in the second game and he almost gifted them a goal going late into the game. he has nothing else than a decent pass and an average shot. he tall but his headers are rather awful. no pace either.

he should be thankful to god that samaris' level has dropped so much that if im not mistaken he got kicked out of benfica's squad after his decision not to sign with rayo vallecano, a team in spanish championship. tachtsidis was sent to nottingham forest so basically no nt for him either. galanopoulos i heard is currently under suspension from the u21 games and should get his first call up in october. regarding the zeca comment that's your personal opinion which i respect.
