  1. Bananas// And when they realize that we need new signings on the defense they will probably buy some slow old ones... With all the money Savvidis has and is ready to spend I can't figure out why we're not doing "Olympiacos-signings", as in buying 20-25 y.o talents or players that are good but haven't quite made it in the best leagues. Just look at the signings of Kasami, Masuaku etc.. I know that we can't spend money as Oly does, due to our lack of CL-money(15-20 million each year), but when you listen to Savvidis's visions you would think we can make two or three signings each season in the range of 2-4 million Euro. Even if we don't talk moneywise, Oly outclass us in transfers and organization/scouting. Masuaku was bought for 300k EURO, the same amount we paid for Korovesis, and today he's worth 7 million and can easily go for 8-10 million in the summer. We're paying 4 million (inc tax) for Berbatov this season and Oly bought both Durmaz and Milivojevic for the same amount (4,3 million together). I really hope Arnesen stays and builds up a good scouting network..
  2. I don't believe it but I'll hope for the best. The thing with the cup is that everything can happen and that a team doesn't need to be good under time but just when the right moments come. I'm probably just telling myself there's a chance because I don't want to realize that this season is completely lost, but hey let's just hope for the best haha.. Pana: You'll probably be right. Would be quite a year for AEK; coming back to GSL, playing a cup final and then starting the construction of Agia Sofia in the summer (??).
  3. The worst thing is that the price of the Berba signing, inc tax, is 4 million EURO. I just hope we win the g*****eno kypello now... A title is the only thing that can cover up this seasons' failure.
  4. BostonThanatos// I agree with everything you say! If we take a look at the players we had before and after Savvidis' arrival and how the market value for the squad (source: Transfermarkt) has changed since 2012 we have actually seen a decline. This decline applies to all greek clubs but all greek clubs haven't received a rich owner with ambitions to take the club to another level..
  5. The thing is, who should create opportunities for the forwards with a line-up like today's. The only player would be Pelkas and he's not good enough to control the whole attack. I like the 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1. The problem with the Berbatov signing is that it forces Tudor to play with two forwards, as none of Athanasiadis or Berbatov should be on the bench. I'd like to see Berbatov leave and an attacking midfielder arrive.
  6. Why play with two CM's at the right- and left midfield?? There's also reason to question the decision to play Mak as a striker. We never play good with two strikers up front and I think it would have been better to play Mak as a creator instead of a forward. What do you guys think of Tudor? I think he's been experimenting too much with different formations and that he doesn't have a clear game plan. Also, I'm not a fan of his way to play with just 3 defenders.
  7. Georgios Savvidis' comment on the rumoured Galatasaray bid on Mak: "Let them dream" hahahaha http://www.paok365.net/2016/01/let-them-dream.html
  8. Mak's buyout clause is currently 5 million euro. Reports today say that Arnesen is going to sit down with Mak soon and negotiate about a new contract. If Mak sign a new contract I hope that the clause will be around 10-12 million euro. If so, we could easily get around 8 million euro after some negotiating if he plays well in the EURO. It would be very dumb to sell him now. Even if the turks would match the buyout clause I don't think that we will see Mak go to them. He knows that if he plays well under the spring and in the EURO he will get offers from better leagues. It would just be dumb to take his family to a new place for just 6 months.
  9. Dutch Eagle// From what I've heard the PAOK Sweden-syndesmo isn't an official syndesmo. As I've understood, PAOK Stokholmi is the only official syndesmo in Sweden. Regardless, they are both located in Stockholm and about 600 km away from me, unfortunately :/ I agree, the logo is nice. Here are the fb links for both: https://www.facebook.com/%CE%A3%CE%A6-%CE%A0%CE%91%CE%9F%CE%9A-%CE%A3%CF%84%CE%BF%CE%BA%CF%87%CF%8C%CE%BB%CE%BC%CE%B7%CF%82-PAOK-Stockholm-962850453766175/?fref=ts https://www.facebook.com/PAOK-CLUB-SWEDEN-373830326150381/?fref=ts
  10. Has someone tried Nova GO? It's 30 euro/month and includes the super league and the basketball league. Unfortunately I think you have to be living in Greece to get a subscription. Thinking on getting it the next time I'm in Greece and just have it on a relative's name.
  11. Any PAO-fan that can inform us about the latest news concerning Lazaros Lambrou? The guy has been seen as one of Greece's biggest talents for some years now but since he's 18 I think it's time for him to get some minutes on senior level. Hopefully he will get loaned out to a beta or gamma ethniki team soon.
  12. Pash// Actually, I don't know what I prefer. I want PAOK to be a club as big as possible and to have a league that can attract players like Berbatov, Gilberto Silva, Rivaldo etc, but at the same time I want a more even league where more teams compete about the title. I think the Belgian league is a suitable role model for us. The population is similar to Greece's. I myself get amazed when I see PAOK graffiti and syndesmous in places outside of Thessaloniki, since I've never experienced the same in Sweden. The problem with supporters that support the big teams outside their own cities is that many of them don't attend the matches of their local teams and that they don't have the possibilities to attend the matches of their supported teams as the supporters living in example Thessaloniki or Athens. This causes a big problem for the greek football, as this phenomenon generates less money for the clubs. The biggest losers though isn't the big clubs but the smaller clubs, like those we can see struggle to get decent attendances on their matches in the Super League. The huge interest in football is there around them, but it is directed to the big-5 of Greece. All this being said, don't take offense by this guys. I am involved in this myself by supporting and spending money on PAOK instead of my local team, Doxa dramas, but if half of the clubs in the league can't manage to have an attendance higher than 2k I think we have a big problem, especially as the interest in football is huge in Greece. I should add though, this problem has become visible under the crisis that we've had for the last five-six years and I can understand that people think more about if it's worth to spend money on football, and especially on the "small" teams. In a few years, when we've come out of the crisis, this might not be a problem anymore but let's see and just hope for the best :) Dutch Eagle// My roots are from Drama and that's where I spend my summers. About 1 hour to get to the beaches of Nea Peramos.
  13. Dutch Eagle// Here you go! Average attendance/tickets sold in total: Hammarby - 25 507 382 607 AIK - 20 983 314 750 Malmo - FF 17 332 259 973 Djurgarden - 15 484 232 263 IFK Goteborg - 14 350 215 256 IFK Norrkoping - 10 296 154 443 IF Elfsborg - 9 239 138 579 Helsingborgs IF - 8 138 122 071 Orebro - 7 074 106 107 Kalmar FF - 6 163 92 443 GIF Sundsvall - 5 050 75 749 Halmstads BK - 4 675 70 119 Gefle IF FF - 4 258 63 877 Atvidabergs FF 3 801 57 019 BK Hacken - 3 565 53 480 Falkenbergs FF - 3 557 53 362 in total: 2 392 098 Guys, I think the biggest reason for the low attendances out of the top-flight teams is that our top teams are unproportionally big in comparison to our population. The top flight teams are supported all over Greece and that has caused a big harm to the local football teams, while the big clubs have benefited from this and been given the opportunity to grow. In Sweden, the teams are only supported in the respective cities or the nearby cities without any football teams in the higher divisions. The effects of this are both positive and negative. On the bright side, the teams in the league are quite equal and the last 10 championships have actually been won by seven different teams. The negative outcome is that the lack of consistency has prevented any team from growing to the size of the greek top-flight clubs. I'm not saying that the one thing is better than the other, I myself support PAOK living about 2 hours from Thessaloniki.
  14. PAOK average attendance 2014-15: 10 052 PAOK average attendance 2009-10: 17 486 Total tickets sold in the Super League 2014-15: 936 686 -II- 2009-10: 1 970 293 Hopefully Larissa, Aris and Ofi will replace some of the teams with an average attendance of 1-2k in the following years. Just take a look on the stats for the current season, eleven of the teams have an average attendance of 2200 and under... Source: http://www.superleaguegreece.net/el/schedule/2014-2015-13
  15. To be honest, Tzavellas' penalty wasn't fair and it seemed to me that he heavily exaggerated the whole thing. It's a shame that the referees we have can't keep a higher level, letting people like Tzavellas and Fortounis take advantage of their stupidity.
