  1. Cyprus has been punching above their weight with everyone these past years. hopefully Greece learned it's lesson after the double loss to the Faroes to not take ANY match lightly.
  2. the dutch were without Robben for much of the campaign. they're a completely different side with him on. much much better. Greece this past decade has always played best with a chip on the shoulder. Being the favourites in this group is outside our comfort zone. World Cup Qualifiers we're back in the under dog seat. Were we have almost always been. I think our players like to be underestimated. Sucker punching Ivory Coast out of knockout rounds. Beating Portugal at their home in the final. Knocking out the dark horse Russia in 2012.
  3. hmm what about samaris as LB kpaps sokratis manolas the other 3 slots and the rest of the lineup as we saw in the 4-3
  4. AEK was definitely great. Beating Milan in Champions League brings back memories. Aris was a good team with Koke. Panathinaikos was a regular in the group stage of CL. Paok IMO is better today than it was the past 10 years because of Ivan Savvidis. Olympiakos is probably better today than it was 10 years ago as well. They could never win an away match in Europe now they're beating out Arsenal, Juventus, Athletico Madrid. Oly, Paok = Better Today Pao, Aris, AEK = Worse Today
  5. Mitroglou showed what I was trying to point to all along. He's one of the best strikers Greece ever had, but he needs service. Most strikers can't make something out of nothing. Without service he becomes a pylon. With a good midfield we'll see that Klaus isn't too shabby either.
  6. I lol'd the tachtsi goal & mitroglou assist were sexy I can't recall a pair of ethiniki goals that pretty I loved the hunger in our players Tachtsi, Kone, Fortounis specifically.
  7. We should play the lineup that tsanas basically played in hungary 4-3 just Manolas = For Moras Holebas = Stafylidis Torosidis = Kitsiou Plenty of lineups seem good in theory but this is the only one of a half dozen that actually performed great.
  8. I had a feeling that he might score like 5 goals and wish they would have been more evenly spread out through the campaign. (Would of resulted in a handful of wins considered the 0-0s) im glad we got a win that's actually a great idea by Tsanas that I didn't think of. load the midfield with CAMs we have 6 good ones. so it increases our odds of one having a good night. pelkas, ninis, fortounis, mantelos, kone, lazaros highlights
  9. We aren't in the worst company. Sandwiched between Lewandaski's Poland & Ibra's Sweden. At 44.
  10. also remember world cup 2014 in costa rica. we looked pretty dangerous but we also had 3 strikers on field gekas, mitroglou, samaras perhaps karelis mitroglou and klaus would be a good thing to try..
  11. Despite the Holebas throwing shirt incident (I didn't see) from the highlights I've seen he actually has been our best players this campaign (which isn't saying much lol) feftatzidis threw us under the bus by downgrading to saudi arabia. he's the best winger we have by a big margin.
  12. Tziolis was okay at one point. I didn't mind him at euro 2012 actually. he is in form too at the moment so I wasn't terribly annoyed at his selection. they really should have put fortounis in there though I digress, pelkas, diamantakos, bouchalakis have great potential
  13. do you think that we're purposely losing to win sports gambling dollars? greece's economy is in shambles, so maybe match fixing against our favour could be what the doctor ordered to get some coin? I mean look at the finland game. None of our shots were on target.. very strange.
  14. I don't get how people on a public forum can put together a better starting lineup than Tsanas. The politics need to stop and merit needs to be the factor. I missed the game. If anyone has good highlights please post. Portugal scraping by a 1-0 win it appears. How much I miss Santos.
  15. I don't get how people on a public forum can put together a better starting lineup than Tsanas. The politics need to stop and merit needs to be the factor. I missed the game. If anyone has good highlights please post.
  16. ^ I wouldn't say amazing soccer but we got results. One thing that Otto did was he dismissed players with bad attitudes. (Zikos & Georgatos?) Santos I don't think did that? Perhaps the bad attitudes that Moras was hinting at are poisoning the team? I love them when they're performing well but COUGH COUGH Mitroglou & Holebas?
  17. anybody know a good greek or english stream of the game? pola zitao? haha
  18. But if our world cup group is already determined. How would effect our world cup? basically our world cup campaign would effect our euro 2020 group no?
  19. our ranking doesn't really matter until world cup qualifiers, I think. They seem to basically reset after 2 years
  20. he would be great for AEK right now. I remember watching a video where I believe his father told him to never play in the Greek league. So he has a stigma against it. But honestly dude, Saudi Arabia and not AEK? Let's be real.
  21. I think some peepz are overreacting. Until a player misses a whole campaign, you can't just say they don't want to play for the ethiniki. Emotional Intelligence people lol.
  22. he shoulda played CB. He's one of the best CB's in the world atm. Top 30 at least. Bayern would at least have scored one goal less with him in the back. He also makes up for the other CB's lack of pace.
  23. If Greece made Euro 2016 , Tziolis would actually be useful. Since Maniatis is injured, we need someone to do the dirty work of DM. As mentioned before, Tachtsidis and Samaris play a similar game. As an idea, Torosidis might be good a CDM now that he's losing his pace. Much like Lahm is doing for Germany. Samaris might be a better LB than Stafylidis when Holebas is out. I don't know much about Petsos, but from what I've seen, he is very impressive. I feel that he's a bit isolated being native to Austria - Similar to how Holebas was. Playing in the superleague or a higher quality league than Austria would up his pecking order. I rate the Greek league higher than the Austria big a considerable margin. In the past the (2010 for example) we were just behind portugal, 7th best league in Europe) Now we're around 13th (just behind Turkeys league) Austrias probably like 16th - slightly better than Cyprus. http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/country/ It's run very well because it's somewhat like how the Scottish league is to the English League. The Austrian league is like a minnow league of the German league. Despite the Greek relative laissez faire attitude, the quality has always been there. Berg, Cisse, Rivaldo, Galletti have spent some great years in Greece. As well as our domestics Manolas, Sokratis, Karagounis, Katsouranis. It's a great league. Olympiakos beating Arsenal & Paok Tieing Dortmund last week are testaments to it.
