At club level sure they've had better careers. But for the NT, only Sokratis and toro have contributed at such a high level

He never made the breakthrough his talent suggested -- and yes it seems like fitness and drive were an issue -- but a good run at Celtic and some fantastic moments for his country will give him a career he can look back on with pride. Thank you for the memories, George.

Yes, Santos has a great knack for not knowing his own best team going into a tournament, favoring experience and perceived solidity over pace and skill, but usually finds his hand forced into playing the backups.

Guys lets be honest. The team is crap. No heart, no strategy even with talents like fortounis and mantalos coming through and anchors like Sokratis at the back. We had an incredible decade but there's a natural ebb and flow to the production of quality players. We underestimated how much organization and passion guys like karagounis brought to the team. And Santos failed spectacularly to bring new blood through. He was very much an in-the-moment coach, which is understandable I guess. But this is really EPO's fault. They've failed to develop our youth system completely, screwed up with the coaches, F***ed the league ten ways from Sunday. We have no personalities in this team, no one who will take the ball and make something happen through sheer force of will. And despite our talent at the back, our marking and organization has become garbage. No concentration. I have no optimism for this team at all, which is hard after believing anything was possible since 2004.

He's got the skills but not the mentality, like so many Greek players who never reach their potential or true quality. I fear it's too late for him to develop the right attitude and game smarts.

This guy is capable of having a decent career abroad. Strange he can't settle at a club. He had a big ego at AEK, if I recall. Unless I'm confusing him with kone. And he'll always find a home with a Zeman-coached team, it seems. He's without a post at the moment, having saved Lugano from relegation. Wonder where he'll land next.
