Guys!! I met samaras after his match in Miami last night. Very quiet, polite guy but friendly. Unfortunately he didn't get off the bench. His team won 3-2. The quality of play was very uneven but there were some excellent moments. More skill on display than I expected. Many of the players have spent time in MLS. Also on samaras' team was Derek boateng. Any PAO fans remember him? Also, the coach of Miami is Nesta. Crazy to see him coaching at this level. His tactics were off from the get-go and Rayo went up 2-0 on counter attacks despite getting dominated. He made a first-half sub that changed the game and they tied it 2-2. But Rayo won a soft penalty at the death to clinch it.

I can't imagine paying money for a friendly in 2016 and seeing Tziolis (ugh!), Moras (whom I respect, but come on) and Papazoglou (who? Over vellios??) in the starting lineup. What a sad joke.

Samaras has been so crucial for us and deserves little (not none, but little) of the stick he gets. He has a lackadaisical style sure and his finishing can be sketchy. But as you point out, he's been crucial in so many goals. His performance as a target man against Russia in Euro 2012 stands out for me as one of the best by a Greek player in recent years. A shame his career has totally gone off the rails. I'm beginning to fear we won't see him in an NT jersey again

Just looking at their lineups over the last couple months, looks like Fiorentina play a 3-4-1-2 with three CBS, two wing backs, two central holding players, a dekari and two strikers. I imagine Kone would probably compete for the dekari or maybe the more withdrawn striker position. Josip Ilicic the Slovenian plays as the playmaker and is a pretty key player. So maybe they'll play him further forward or back in midfield? They also just signed Mauro Zarate, who's a good striker. has anyone actually seen them play?
