  1. on the contrary to what some might want you to believe I am not against old players,i am against old players playing in positions that require young legs, fitness and high work rate,i haven't said one negative thing about tavlaridi and he is older than the croats. I was against petric because he was starting in front of karelis, when karelis is clearly the better player and works much harder for the team,if petric and kareli play 1v1 kareli will beat him 10 - 0 as for pranjic he came here as a left back, wing back, anastsiou sticks him in the midfield, which is where you need mobility and hard work ,zeka, abeid, lagos type players,he wasn't playing him as a dekari if he was we could compensate but as a center or holding mid and we paid the price, just look at xanthi game which we lost 4-2 petric pranjic and mendez were woeful no work ethic at all they didn't have the legs. now pranjic if you believe the media reports will replace nano at left back, good this is his position, this is where he has always played ,he can pick and time his runs from there and allow some young energetic midfielders to do the dirty work ,scrap and fight for every inch ,this is not pranjcs go,to beat brugge we must win the midfield battle this is true for most games. when you lose the ball and this happens a lot in football ,what happens in the next 3-5 seconds is crucial, that transition from attack to defence and vica versa is crucial and you need players like zeka etc in that midfied to win that ball back as soon as it is lost,or when it is won to go from defence mode to attacking mode all this requires hard work and fitness and speed. and this is the problem we face with essien. the midfield is for mobile players,at left back pranjic with his experience can set and go at his own pace and pick when to overlap etc and im sure at left back he will do a good job. if nano is fit he can sit on the bench.
  2. who made accor6 coach?my name is on the team sheet and that's where it is staying, when jvc grows a bit of hair on his chest and starts shaving then I might consider going into retirement.
  3. freezer broke the whole thing down beautifully, this is Pulitzer prize winning material.
  4. I am to old to play defensive midfield,my legs cant handle the work load ,plus I was always a center back,so that is where I want to play, but im telling you this ,I will not be passing the ball to accor6. jvc your to young to start in this line up.
  5. all I said was he is going under the knife,i read it on prasine nea.whats the problem? anyway you started the whole thing ,I was posting about the essien transfer and how I didn't think it was a good idea and you wanted to be smart and post how he will shut me up like petric did,all of a sudden your tired of me carrying on about 34 yr olds ,when you were the one that started it. if you don't like certain posts you should let everyone know before hand ,so that we can only post things that you agree with and like. here are the facts essien is going into surgery ,how long will he be out for, freezer is a doctor he can tell us,and then how long before he is actually fit to play?and how much is he getting paid in the mean time while he is out injured.? what do you want me to say? what a great transfer we made?
  6. essien going under the knife according to prasina nea ,im guessing we might see him in December.
  7. starting 11 steele- wemmer nano tavla sanchez- lagos zeca ninis or lod kaltsas karelis berg their is a ton of experience in that starting 11 do we need a couple of slow ,lazy 34 yr olds in their? as for the bench ,you have klonaridi, thelander, koutroubis, ajagun etc
  8. if we are going to praise and keep petric and pranjic because they have scored against the gavrous then ajagun should get a pay rise because in that 3-0 win the first two goals were a direct result of his pressure on the ball carrier causing them to lose the ball,he made manolas look like a 6 yr old. I would rather have ajagun ,running and pressurizing and harassing the opposition ,snapping at their heels than a couple of old guys who cant close down and tackle. if you find the right balance in the team their is a place for ajagun on the bench ,or even in the starting 11 depending on the game and what you need.
  9. only if the young players are capable, and tavla is a center back ,a position that you can get away with playing an older player with experience and able to organize play.
  10. what interest me is that kaltsas scored ,that karelis scored ,that lod had a very good game, and that marnakis did well and at left back, this is what gets me excited ,not that pertic scored a rebound or bourbos played at right back. the future of the club is the younger players.
  11. the problem with petric and pranjic is they are taking up spots that should be going to younger more capable players,in the beginning of last season karelis was on the bench so petric could play ,it was only through injuries to berg and petric that karelis got playing time and scored all those goals,if petric and berg were fit ,karelis would still be on the bench and he wouldn't have had the breakthrough season he did ,so we sacrifice a talented 22 yr old to play a 34 yr old ,does that make sence? the same with pranjic in midfield. I will be interested to see if karelis ,berg and petric are all fit who anastasiou will start.i could be wrong but I think anastasiou will bench karelis. as for essien ,people think he is a bust because that first game looks like its a long time coming,we need to stop buying over the hill ,injured players in their 30s their is no future in it unless they are skilful playmakers who rely on brains and skill, rivaldo type players. so far it has been youth that has got us out of trouble ,mavrias to Sutherland, kapinos to mainz that brought in money if these guys were on the bench so 30 + yr olds could play no one would know who they were.and we would of got nothing. I don't see anyone knocking on the door to buy petric but a lot are interested in karelis another youngster who will bring in money. the team has plenty of experience without petric and pranjic . berg, zeka, tavla, wemmer, nano etc.
  12. ok lets see where this love affair with petric and pranjic ends up both are 34 and a year older than last season lets see if they can contribute anything ,lets just hop the whole team plays well because if it doesn't its obvious the two elderly croats wont be able to do anything to change things up.
  13. that 87-88 campaign if kapetanios hadn't of sacked daniil and brought in that dumb swede bengston not only would we have knocked out brugge but could well have gone on to win the whole thing.
  14. every time we have drawn a club from Belgium we have greeted it with enthusiasm and every time we have been sent running with our tails between our legs,we are the underdogs in this fixture ,they are probably doing handstands they got us.
  15. This excuse that the whole team didn't perform well in Europe last season is rubbish, rocha ,zajec, saravakos, warzycha, domazos ,andoniadis, used to grab the team by the scruff of the neck if they were not playing well and change the course of the game on their own, didnt matter to them if the whole team was playing well or not they would take charge and turn things around on their own. if pranjic and petric are going to be the highest paid players on the team ,then I expect more from them especially in big crucial games in Europe, either they can or they cant simple,im sure anastasiou will start them against brugge ,lets see if they can stand up and be counted. there is a reason they were both finished at their previous clubs and were not even on the bench but in the stands.we love making karelis ,klonaridis and ajagun the scape goats but these highly paid croats get away with it,oh the whole team didn't play well.
  16. on paper we cant beat any of them, but football matches are not decided on paper.a lot will depend on how our coach goes about his business and the tactics he uses ,anastasiou is going to have to win this from the bench because man for man we are not as good.
  17. tudor has always played 3-5-2 and this is what he will play this season.
  18. there supposed to be our experienced croat international big game players
  19. why you play a back 3 in an away European game is beyond my understanding.
  20. lets see what petric and pranjic do in the European matches because last season they were atrocious. you don't sign players based on what the fans are going to say,you buy them based on their ability to contribute on the field, essien was a huge gamble ,we didn't need to take it,that money along with the wages those over the hill croats get could of been used for something better and younger. these are the facts he is getting huge money,he is injured and he wont be in the starting 11 for the champions league qualifiers ,which if we qualify the club gets around 20 million. was he or was he not bought to help us get into the champions league ? of course no one can shut you up,because you never have an opinion of your own you just toe the party line.
  21. all I know Is he has missed the pre season ,training by himself, talk he will go under the knife which will keep him out another 40-45 days,i thought we bought him because he could help on the pitch.especially champions league,if we bought him to keep our medical team busy then it has been a huge success.
  22. patient for how long?1 month .6months ,2 years?
  23. if you were making the decision would you have paid that money for a player at his age and history also knowing he wouldn't be fit for the 3rd round of qualifiers?. if we were going to get a big name we needed them first and foremost for these crucial qualifiers that is make or break . when buying veterans you do not buy them for positions that require them to run all day long .
  24. buying the player is a decision you make before a ball has been kicked, when you decide to pay someone of that age and history of injuries that amount of money you are taking a huge gamble.can he at 33 stay fit?can he at 33 cover the ground and tackle because that is what type of player he is,if he cant then what can he do,it was his fitness ,strength and work rate that made him a great player,if he doesn't posess these qualities anymore what good is he?i know one thing he wont be playing in the cl qualifiers so we are not getting our moneys worth there are we?
