This was probably the weakest Spanish NT in a long time. They were beatable. We missed a great chance to eliminate them. Still need to finish strong as there are 2016 Olympic Qualifying Tournament spots at stake.

Squad travelling to Baku:
-
Cimirot was initially out for 2 months. read somewhere that only last week he started running at practice. Antonis is supposedly fit, but probably not game ready. Jairo can't play, because he played for his old team in Europe.
-
Kick-off time is 20:30 Greek Time. Should be a good game.
-
And it was all downhill since. A lot of people got rich being part of the Aris front office.
-
pash Jairo is ineligible to play in EL. I think we will see Rodrigues instead. Spanish refs again BTW. Also the atmosphere might be little tense in the stadium, since the Azeris are quite friendly with Turkey.

If Pelkas perform like he is so far this season, he will get a new contract for sure.

Superleague/Football League/Greek Cup TV Coverage
Blackhawk replied to Blackhawk's topic in TV, Radio, Video, Gaming & Media
Now you can see why PAOK wanted SL to do an investigation prior to signing the international rights contract. -
The buyout clause has to be somewhat proportional with his base salary, otherwise there might be problems with UEFA's Fair Play System. You can't pay somebody 100K for example and put a 100 mil buyout clause. His salary was increased to 200K and his buyout clause to 1.5 mil. It probably could have been bigger, but let's not forget that the player has to agree to it as well. Since prior to the deal, Pelkas could have signed with anybody in December 2015, the team did not have much leverage in the negotiation process.

Superleague/Football League/Greek Cup TV Coverage

They do. They (Forthnet/NOVA) sub-licensed the games to Sport Plus and Antenna. Apparently they have a stake in the Sport Plus operation. -
Superleague/Football League/Greek Cup TV Coverage

The above post is a copy and paste of one of mine posts in the past either here or at the old GS and is no longer accurate. TAF Spots no longer owns the international rights to SL games. Forthnet TV that actually runs NOVA for the Greek market now controls the rights. Apparently they kept the same arrangement that TAF Sports had last season, which was divide the the teams equally between Sport Plus and Antenna Group. The only exception is the home games of PAOK, which has not approved the SL deal with Forthnet, since they wanted first to investigate previous deals between SL and TAF Sports for irregularities. -
Sorry, it's Kapaki.info and not Kapaki.gr And currently the registrations are open. The full link is https://kapaki.info/index.php?p=home&pid=1 pash I disagree. For 29.99 per month you get the whole Greek package and guaranteed SL coverage. It's not perfect and yes it would be nice to have a legal IPTV option as well and not to have to worry about nova or OTE TV to be dropped for no reason. Have been watching SL coverage on Dish since 1997. Unless something better and cheaper comes along this is the best option IMHO.
-
He just signed a contract extension with the team. His buyout option is 1.5 mil Euro.
-
You can also download the games on the torrent side Kapaki.gr, usually with a one day delay.

Aris is run as an amateur side by the Erasitexni Aris. They just awarded the management of the soccer team to Karypidis a self proclaimed Olympiakos supporter, which basically means that Aris is on its way to becoming another farm team, which also explains the influx of old Olympiakos based players and coaching staff. There is a civil war going on within Aris with all kinds of weird decisions by the erasitexni board. Last weekend they voted and awarded the management to Nikos Arvanitidis, the son of the previous Veroia owner, only to kick him out and replace him with Karypidis. Prior to that they voted to kick out Alex Kalas, who has been funding the team most of the last season. If and when Aris makes it to Football League, Karypidis will have to make a decision about his ownership of Veroia, that's why he is supposedly negotiating with some Chinese management company to take over Veroia, so he can legally own Aris, when they become a professional team in Football League. That's unless the board does not vote him out during the course of the season. Never a dull moment in the ongoing saga of Aris Thessaloniki.

As for TV coverage at least in the US, with Sport+ and Antenna Sat you have sure access to 99% of the SL games. The only games not available right now are PAOK's home games, but I am sure with Berbatov on the team those games will be picked up soon by one of those channels.

Nice stories by everyone. Here is mine. The first time I went to Toumba was in 1984 during my first ever visit to Greece. I have been a fan of the team since mid-70's, and of course all my family (cousins) in Thessaloniki were PAOK fans, so it was a no brainer that a visit to Toumba was a must. Thankfully in those days the big teams in Greece still played pre-season friendlies unlike today. My first game at Toumba was a pre-season friendly between PAOK and AEK. Even though it was in the middle of the vacation season (August) in Greece, Toumba was quite full. It was a great experience. Since then I went to Toumba on many occasions. Since I visited Greece mostly during summer, most of the games were pre-season friendlies. Also saw a pre-season friendly against Aris at Charilaou Stadium among others. The only competitive games I managed to see at Toumba was the one time I went to Greece during winter. It was against Panionios in December 1990. The other competitive game I attended was the infamous CL qualifying game between PAOK and Maccabi in 2004

Katsikas suffered serious injury during practice and will be out for 9 months. He is injury prone. During his stay with PAOK he was injured most of the time. let's not forget that he also suffered ligament injury while at Iraklis before coming to PAOK. I would think his competitive career is pretty much over.
-
Berbatov is in the squad for the game, so we might see him tomorrow. Most likely as a sub in order to get ready for the Qabala game next Thursday. Lef of the squad were Malezas (once again), Charisis, Korovesis, Savvidis and the injured/suspended Cimirot, Antonis, Jairo. Apparently Tudor is also thinking of starting Golasa tomorrow.

I really enjoyed meeting you and your parents. The food was great too. Thank you for your hospitality.

I think we are done trading this summer transfer period. Any additions to the roster will have to wait until January 2016.

Greece-Finland(4 September 2015, Giorgos Karaiskaki, Piraeus)
Blackhawk replied to Omonoia9's topic in Greek National Teams
Unless EPO is cleaned up from the top to the bottom and drastic changes are made in the structure of the national teams, we will unfortunately have to accept the fact that we will have a pre-Euro 2004 mediocre team. And once in for all make the national team the team for all Greeks. Not a team run by and for managers and agents.
