  1. The players that are not included in the squad are:

Vellidis, Siabanis, Milissas, Chatziisaias, Dimitiradis, Korovesis, Mystakidis, Konstantinidis and Kace.

Of those Dimitriadis and Siabanis are most likely going to the U20 squad.

Vellidis will be our 3rd back-up goalie and Melissas will probably be loaned.

Konstantinidis and Kace are behind due to injuries/extended vacation.

This leaves Chatziisaias and Mystakidis. The first one is probably on the black list since he refused to be part of the Varela deal. As for Mystakidis, looks like he might not have impressed Ivic during pre-season training.

  2. Exactly. Mak was not going to stay at PAOK considering we were offering only 800K salary, while Zenit is giving him 1.5 mil plus bonuses. I think Mak's mind was made up when he got the red card and the 5 game ban for the penalty against Olympiakos that was never called.

PAOK got a pretty good deal for Mak. We paid 300K to get him, and will pocket 3.5 mil with his sale. Not a bad investment.

  3. Most likely scenario is that AE Pontion will start the Superleague, but it will not finish it.

First of all they are the only team that did not receive a license, which means that can only make limited transfers. The team owes something like 900K to taxing authorities, and any transfers they make will not be approved if they don't take care of this debt. They also owe back wages to most players from last season.

As part of the "non-license" they will be evaluated on quarterly basis to make sure they took care of those debts. If they don't take care of this each evaluation will bring with it punishments, such as monetary fines, point deductions, and eventually expulsion from Superleague.

In the meantime, Papathanasakis has moved from Thessaloniki to a hotel in Athens, and with the help of Marinakis managed to sell Vellios to Nottingham. So far none of the 1.2 mil from that sale have gone to the team in order to take care some of the outstanding issues.

  4.

As for this whole licensing process, it reeks of cronyism and demonstrates IMO that the current government is as corrupt as all the previous ones.  It should not be up to the government to decide how many channels the market can bear and how many can survive financially- that should be up to the market itself.  They should just say 'anyone who wants to operate a TV channel from here on out will be required to purchase a license and the license costs 'X' amount.  Let anyone who can afford to pay for the license have one and then the strong will survive and the weak will not.

Just like every other corrupt aspect of life in Greece, so is the award of national television licenses. Those that will pay off the politicians will get their license.

On a positive note, it is quite revolutionary to introduce a licensing process for broadcasting stations. Even the most backward nations have some kind of licensing scheme for broadcasting licenses. In essence all these TV and radio stations so far have been broadcasting illegally.

  5. Last friendly in Holland tomorrow against Twewnte Enschede. I am sure Ivic will use a lineup that he will most likely be the 90% starting lineup for the CL games.

I expect something like this tomorrow:

    -------------------- Glykos -------------------

    Matos -- Crespo -- Tzavellas -- Leovac

    --------- Tziolis ----------- Charisis -------

    Rodrigues ----- Sakhov -------- Campos

    ------------------  Klaus ----------------------

  6. Decent draw. We can progress. Their best player Milik might not even play in the first game.

The only thing that worries me is that we never eliminated a Dutch team from any European competition.

  8. Realistically we stand no chance of cracking the top 12 in the next 3 seasons in my opinion.

2016-17 is in progress and we finished in 13th place.

2017-18 is already set and we finished in 14th place.

2018-19 we are in 14th place with 22.300 points. 12th place Czech Republic has 27.675

2019-20 we are in 14th place with 17.900 points, approximately 1.3 points behind the 12th place.
