  1. Filippidis and Stefanidi were uncharacteristically performing poorly like never before. Karalis only need to go over 5.75 and the bronze medal was his.
  2. Greece finishes the competition with 4 medals, well done! (1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze)
  3. Milan Trajkovic won the 60 meter hurdles, a first gold medal for Cyprus at the European Indoor Championships. Kostas Douvalidis finished 5th with a time of 7.65, just 0.02 seconds away from a bronze medal.
  4. Miltos Tentoglou is our European Indoor Champion! He did it in grand fashion, breaking Louis Tsatoumas indoor record of 8.23 to win the competition with a jump at 8.38. 20 years old and already dominating Europe.
  5. Oh my God! Douvalidis qualifies for the finals! Finished 3rd in the semifinals heat at 6.67 (season's best)
  6. Papachristou gets the silver medal, 2nd one for Greece She broke her personal indoor best at 14.50 m. Congrats!
  7. Zikos finished 5th place in the men's 60 meters at 6.67 It was a tight race guys.
  8. Baniotis gets the silver medal for Greece Karalis finishes 4th at 5.65 m Zikos won his semifinal heat at 6.64 to qualify for the finals
  9. Filippidis should retire now, finished the competition without a mark. Aman!
  10. Baniotis will get Greece's first medal. Right now he is at 2.26 Honestly, this hasn't been a very competitive high jump.
  11. The Greeks who qualified in the morning session Stefanidi and Kyriakopoulou at 4.60 m Zikos 6.66 (fastest time in the heats) Douvalidis 7.69 (season's best) The ones who did not Polak - finished at 4.50 Trivyzas - finished 5th at 6.80 Sterigoulis - finished 8th at 6.91 Spanoudaki - DSQ (second straight time in the European Indoor) ?
  12. In women's pole vault, I expect Stefanidi and Kyriakopoulou to qualify for the finals. Polak has no chance. Saturday will be a big day for sprinting. We will keeping an eye on Zikos. He has the potential to go to the finals if he can break his personal best. Trivyzas, Sterigoulis, and Spandoudaki have little to no chance to advance into the semifinals. Douvalidis should make the semifinals and as usual fail to advance into the finals. In the men's high jump, Baniotis have a slim chance at a medal. He is an indoor specialist, will see. In the men's pole vault, I have high hopes for Karalis to give Greece it's first medal. Can't wait!
  13. I was hoping he would break his Greek National Indoor record. Wasn't meant to be.
  14. Filippidis is very lucky to grab that final spot. He is really struggling to get over 5.70.
  15. Skarvelis impressed me on his last 2 throws at 20.30 and 20.34, just 3 cm short of breaking the Greek National Indoor Record. Baniotis didn't miss many to get to 2.25, only one got the automatic spot of 2.28, the others remained in the same height with Baniotis. Papachristou did not miss a beat, she qualified with ease. Tentoglou is being...well Tentoglou. lol As for the runners, it was expected I expect Karalis and Filippidis both to qualify. Gousin is also jumping later today. It will be a challenge for her. Too many good female high jumpers in the field.
  16. What an embarrassment! Losing to Lamia at home of all teams? Next season get a new coach, a very good coach.
  17. I was wrong, Zikos has the 5th fastest time among all European participants. But, you are right he will have to break the 6.62 barrier in order to reach the finals.
  18. Vasiliou runs in the 7th heat of the women's 400 m. She has a very slim chance of advancing into the semifinals. She will need to do better than 53.39. Top 2 of each heat plus 4 best time goes through. Baniotis is an enigma. His seasons best is 2.27. 2.28 is the automatic spot. He seems to do well in indoor events, had a couple of 4th place finishes. 50/50 chance for him to qualify. Gousin is having a career indoor season, besting her mark at 1.94. She will need 1.96 to go to the finals. I honestly think she has a long shot. And finally in the men's pole vault both Karalis and Filippidis are favored to qualify for the finals, even though the automatic qualifying mark is 5.80. ? Yikes!
  19. In the field events of the European Athletics Indoor Championship, only 8 athletes qualify for the finals (unless more than 8 athletes get the automatic qualifying standard). Tomorrow, Tentoglou starts off in the men's long jump. 7.95 is the automatic spot. He should make the finals. He is the world leader at 8.23. Skarvelis throws in the men's shot put. 20.90 is the automatic spot. It's a long shot for him, his season's best is 20.11. Dimitriakis running in the 3rd heat in the men's 1500. First two from each heat qualifies along with the 3 best times. He does not stand a chance. He will have to break his personal best to have any chance of making the final cut. Papachristou has a shot, but it's not a guarantee since she is rusty after returning from injury and has not performed any indoor meets this season. She can jump 14.20 to get in automatically, even if she jumps around 14.10, she should be fine.
  20. Do you think Zikos got a shot at the 60 meter finals? He has the top time among all male Greek sprinters and I believe he has the 8th fastest time in Europe.
  21. Pitor Lisek increased his seasons best at 5.93 Emmanuel Karalis can win bronze since that spot is wide open after Renaud Lavillenie and Pitor Lisek Armand Dulpantis isn't competing in Europe, he is competing for his college LSU. The Russian Timor Morgonov isn't competing either.
  22. I don't remember you Welcome to Phantis Forum Majority of PAOK fans are active here
  23. 3 medals sounds reasonable, but as we witnessed in Berlin, 3 other athletes unexpectedly won medals along with the 3 favorable ones. We have a very good group of Greek athletes here. Greece never won 2 gold medals in the same European Athletics Indoor Championships before. I read an article that Glasgow 2019 will host 637 athletes (a new record for this event). This should be an exciting one.
  24. halftime 1-0 Dynamo Kyiv
  25. I do like him, it's just that he is a reliable player off the bench
