  1. The UEFA Nations League does serve a purpose for 3 reasons. 1. To get promoted to a higher league 2. To guarantee a play-off spot in case they don't finish in the top 2 of the qualifying group 3. If they play in League A, they would be playing for a trophy since it is a major competition
  2. Tomorrow will be the Winter National Throwing Cup in Thessaloniki Some of the big names in Greek athletics (seniors and juniors) will take part in the event I will post the results after the competition is over.
  3. Now you will understand why I follow Greek track and field more than football. The state of SEGAS is in great shape with no corruption. In EPO and EPAE, the league is run by thugs and mafias.
  4. Olympiakos winning 1-0 over Panathinaikos in Leoforos. Match halted because PAO fans disrupting the match.
  5. Even on paper, Greece should get second place and an automatic qualification to EURO 2020. But, this team always find ways to make it tough on themselves, struggling to get positive results from the likes of Bosnia, Finland, Armenia, and Lichtenstein. I fear that Greece will finish 4th in the group and miss out. ?
  6. Go to 4:42:44 to see his introduction and his throws. TERASTIOS!!!!
  7. Mihalis Anastasakis is the silver medalist in the European Throwing Cup!!! He was so impressive in Slovakia in the cold, wet conditions. His final mark is 76.38.
  8. Mihail Anastasakis, Nikolaos Gavrillidis, and Hrisoula Anagnostopoulou are going to Samorin, Slovakia to compete in the European Throwing Cup this coming Sunday.
  9. Filippidis and Stefanidi were uncharacteristically performing poorly like never before. Karalis only need to go over 5.75 and the bronze medal was his.
  10. Greece finishes the competition with 4 medals, well done! (1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze)
  11. Milan Trajkovic won the 60 meter hurdles, a first gold medal for Cyprus at the European Indoor Championships. Kostas Douvalidis finished 5th with a time of 7.65, just 0.02 seconds away from a bronze medal.
  12. Miltos Tentoglou is our European Indoor Champion! He did it in grand fashion, breaking Louis Tsatoumas indoor record of 8.23 to win the competition with a jump at 8.38. 20 years old and already dominating Europe.
  13. Oh my God! Douvalidis qualifies for the finals! Finished 3rd in the semifinals heat at 6.67 (season's best)
  14. Papachristou gets the silver medal, 2nd one for Greece She broke her personal indoor best at 14.50 m. Congrats!
  15. Zikos finished 5th place in the men's 60 meters at 6.67 It was a tight race guys.
  16. Baniotis gets the silver medal for Greece Karalis finishes 4th at 5.65 m Zikos won his semifinal heat at 6.64 to qualify for the finals
  17. Filippidis should retire now, finished the competition without a mark. Aman!
  18. Baniotis will get Greece's first medal. Right now he is at 2.26 Honestly, this hasn't been a very competitive high jump.
  19. The Greeks who qualified in the morning session Stefanidi and Kyriakopoulou at 4.60 m Zikos 6.66 (fastest time in the heats) Douvalidis 7.69 (season's best) The ones who did not Polak - finished at 4.50 Trivyzas - finished 5th at 6.80 Sterigoulis - finished 8th at 6.91 Spanoudaki - DSQ (second straight time in the European Indoor) ?
  20. In women's pole vault, I expect Stefanidi and Kyriakopoulou to qualify for the finals. Polak has no chance. Saturday will be a big day for sprinting. We will keeping an eye on Zikos. He has the potential to go to the finals if he can break his personal best. Trivyzas, Sterigoulis, and Spandoudaki have little to no chance to advance into the semifinals. Douvalidis should make the semifinals and as usual fail to advance into the finals. In the men's high jump, Baniotis have a slim chance at a medal. He is an indoor specialist, will see. In the men's pole vault, I have high hopes for Karalis to give Greece it's first medal. Can't wait!
  21. I was hoping he would break his Greek National Indoor record. Wasn't meant to be.
  22. Filippidis is very lucky to grab that final spot. He is really struggling to get over 5.70.
  23. Skarvelis impressed me on his last 2 throws at 20.30 and 20.34, just 3 cm short of breaking the Greek National Indoor Record. Baniotis didn't miss many to get to 2.25, only one got the automatic spot of 2.28, the others remained in the same height with Baniotis. Papachristou did not miss a beat, she qualified with ease. Tentoglou is being...well Tentoglou. lol As for the runners, it was expected I expect Karalis and Filippidis both to qualify. Gousin is also jumping later today. It will be a challenge for her. Too many good female high jumpers in the field.
  24. What an embarrassment! Losing to Lamia at home of all teams? Next season get a new coach, a very good coach.
  25. I was wrong, Zikos has the 5th fastest time among all European participants. But, you are right he will have to break the 6.62 barrier in order to reach the finals.
