  1. Oh, yeah, I agree with you on that!
  2. The only good reason that Lemonis should have been fired would be if Oly had already a big name as a coach. Otherwise, it's not a very good move. It's unrealistic to expect a coach to win the domestic title and by up be several points this late in the season every year. This unwise move also sets the tone for anyone who's thinking of coming to coach Oly. I mean, by any standard why should a coach do that unless it's a STEP UP for him (rather unknown and coming from a lesser team)? The team played some great games in the CL, lost to Chelsea in England, is in the hunt for the domestic title and the favorite to win the cup! If this not a successful season, or if this is how Kokalis sees a bad year, then only a fool would agree to coach gavroi..... Constantly being under threat of being fired, and before the end of the season! I don't think Lemonis made gavroi into a great team, but he used what players he had (and their ability) to do a good job. I also think Kokalis is very ungreatful to Lemonis, and if Lemonis ever comes back he'd have no self-respect either.
  3. I was shocked to hear this but not surprised. I had attended several games before that in various facilities and I could see that most had death traps. As a very young person didn't fully appreciate the danger, but a few times I had experienced being stuck and the crowd pushing against me.... NOT a pleasant thing. Horrible. What a senseless death for those palikaria.... But, you know, there are too many savages among the "fans" who hate those who wear different colors so much to hurt them.... Because when you carry a club and you swing it against someone else, or you stab them.... it's like wanting to kill them. Anyway, hopefully not only I don't want to see more deaths, but no injuries either. Cause sometimes you can't correct a wrong.....
  4. Thanks guys. The price is $65 Euros, plus 35 for shipping to countries out of Europe. If 1 US $= 1.5 E, then it's very expensive, more than $160 US! Wow! I'll have to find a "copy" and actually I'd like it better without the Cosmote. Monastiraki, heh? ;)
  5. I have to say, this is the best jersey in a very long time! OK, maybe because it's simple. And, I like the trifilli plain. How do we get one here in the states? Cyberfish, where/how did you get yours?
  6. Pappou, I'm not sure, but are you certain Leoforos belongs to PAO? I think way back the Dimos gave it to PAO to built a gipedo, but I don't think it really belongs (on paper) to PAO. Anyway, that's not my point.... My point is, OK we keep Leoforos, then WHAT? Say, the dimos/gov don't want to sub the new gipedo.... either at Votaniko, or where-ever. What do we do?.... Really? what the f*^k do we do? Leoforos is old, UEFA doesn't want it..... so? we can keep complaining, begging for money for the next 40 years. I, for one, would like to be in our new home to celebrate our 100 years! I think it's a game all sides are playing. Crap. Tzigger has the money. As a matter of fact, I'd prefer PAO uses exclussively its own money so
  7. I also wanted to add that AEK has been making money this year by playin at OAKA.... For example, AEK-PAOK 36,000.... PAO-OLY 14,000 I'm not for huge stadium, cause this is Greece and a small market... but one for 40,000 should be perfect! I'd even suggest to have very cheap tickets for lesser games so more people attend.
  8. I think we are witnessing the very last games in Leoforo... like the derby against Oly this Sunday maybe the last one played there... So, some retrospect and reverence are in order.... especially considering that this historic field of dream will be gone for ever, only last in our collective memories.... Other teams buld on site, so they retain much of the sense of home, but we are moving so it's harder for us. The final game in Leoforo will take place soon... so, gents, revere the Leoforo for as long as it stands.... and take the great memories to our new home.
  9. Panos you're making good points.... There are teams, like the Boston Celtics, LA Lakers, etc.. usually big markets, established fan base that haven't moved, won't move, and have a big legacy and rabbid fans. Yet, of course I see the differnce between US and Euro sports, and it's big.... (like the euro better myself) On the other hand, in this 21st century, it's beyond my comprehension that PAO, any professional team, doesn't know exactly all the factors I mentioned in my earlier posting!!!! In short, PAO managements should already know if, say, they move to Elliniko, how the fans will react. Simple polls won't do. I've worked with political polling in the states... For example, if 99% of fans want Goudi, does this mean that anywhere else a stadium will be a failure? NO! You measure the intensity and commitment of the fans.....and a host of other factors.... Listen, Leoforos is my emotional home, like 1000% of the rest of Panathes... but we have to move, I guess, I'm just asking how come we're discussing the issue without anyone knowing what any move will do to the club.... I tend to believe that Vardi has done his research.... He knows the fans want Goudi, but he leans towards Elliniko... He's trying to find a good way to tell the fans, is playing the Goudi card and trying to get as much from the gov. for Elliniko..... My choices: 1. leoforos (can't they buy property around the gipedo?) 2. Goudi, 3. Elliniko
  10. i'm fascinated by all this talk.... i live in NY and the jets are now playing in NJ and want to build a stadium in Manhattan with no space for parking... Anyway, my point is that all this what if, maybe, we'll see, you're wrong, i'm right, etc.etc.... Any serious business knows EXACTLY who goes where, buys what, for what reasons, who attends, under what conditions, level of fan commitment, where they come from, whether someone would travel an extra 20 minutes to save $20 (on ticket price), and so forth.... I mean, com'on, it's not a rush decision... we've been talking about a new stadium for many, many years! If we don't know by now, we'll never know, and we're just playing roulette! Geesh men, sorry, but isn't PAO a modern company with professional people to market the team, do research into its "customer base"? Amazing, f^^king amazing!
  11. I'm willing to bet you that PAO will make a new stadium in Elliniko.... Why? Because 1.there is more than enough space there.... (it's huge!!!) 2. Plenty of parking 3. plenty of commercial oppurtunities to make money 4. All PAO clubs can be under one roof so to speak 5. Fewer objections by the locals.... especially if they buy the argument that a metro park needs income to be made and maintained.... 6. Vardi is a businessman above all and from a commercial point of view, Elliniko is the most promising. 7. Will stick it to Kokkalis as PAO having a better/bigger stadium. 8. Because the space is already available the building of the new stadium and adjecent facilities can take place FAST!!!! Fast, fast, fast! 9. Management thinks that any objections from fans for picking Elliniko will subside once the fans see a state of the art stadium, CHEAPER tickets (seasonal and otherwise) and other ammenities! 10. Though I'm so attached to Leoforos, like all of you friends, if the team moves to Elliniko, even against our wishes, what are we going to do?.... stay away for a while, but soon we'll go.... especially if the team does well..... And owners know this! If, besides parking, they make it easy with public transport to get there, vazeloi will fill the stadium, especially if we are in the CL play! No????!!!! So, any one cares to bet with me? ;)
