  1. This whole fuss about Tziolis gets me laughing. Ok we get it, he is slow , 2 years ago u were the same guy whining about Katsouranis. Still , Tziolis didn't play half the qualifying games, im not sure but maybe he played less than half of them. And what did we get ? a fcking kick from the Euros before half the matches had been played. Football is a match 11 vs 11, excluding the Goalkeepers gets us 10 vs 10 , if u think 1 man can make so much of a difference , especially in a defensive slow paced team like the Greek NT you are probably unable to understand. Most of you say its the Offence's fault , being unable to score , others say the defence , seeing the forwards' lack of form , expanded themselves up front and thus making us lose many games (which actually happened) so its the defenders' fault. But whenever we have to hear names, who to blame it's just Ranieri (EPL leader right now) and Tziolis. I don't give a f*ck about the player , i don't worship him or anything as many could assume from this post. But seriously , someone mentioned him as the Katsouranis successor and I would like to point that. We went to the Euro 2012 with both Katsouranis and Tziolis , we qualified for the World cup 14 with both Katsouranis and Tziolis, we crushed Romania 3-1 with Tziolis and Katsouranis on the line up. We drew with Romania away with Tziolis on the line up. My point is , Greece has always been a slow paced team , Our kinda fast 10ths in the likes of Pelkas and Mantalos , along with the smart brain and fast reactions of Fortounis could be a change , but it could need some time , some time we don't have coz if we fail to qualify for hte next WC (something that probably will happen) we ll fall deeper to the rankings. So my point is , how exactly is Tziolis' fault that we are undergoing a change of an era ? How is it a single player's fault. Some extra info i found : Tziolis didn't start nor did he play vs Faroe Islands on both legs, and we still lost. Lastly , YES I am Greek , my good for nothing school books have taught me wrongly that Turks are there for me to hate, so when my team finishes Last in a EURO Qual. Campaign , while theirs finishes as best 3rd (by beating Netherlands, Icelands and Czech Republics) I will enjoy a DRAW against them especially when my team is running their worst period since like 2002. Even if we didn't qualify for WC 2006 , we didn't end up so miserably.

  4. I get why people are disgusted by favoritism, corruption and treated unfairly by the state. Still, no one has the license to destroy private and public property and threaten people's lives. This includes the incompetent police and those who are in charge of law and order. This bullshit is endemic of Greek society and must stop. In the end, it's Greeks hurting Greeks and the country (including its image), more so than anyone else outside Greece. Frankly, if nobody bothered to show up for 1 year, I bet you none of this bullshit would be going on today. Same with a lot of other stuff in politics. Who elects those crooks and who believes their crap? But, in a way, it's become the culture of modern Greece to complain about everything, believe in magical solutions, being selfish, while no one really wants to fix things by changing themselves first. I'm disgusted by what's going because I care, but I'm also disgusted by the small-mindedness of so many people. It's a culture that has to change.

  11. I think Platella is a very important part of the squad and if we were to kick him out, or for him to leave come january, it would show a great deal of ignorance on Poyiet's part. He, just like Della believes that he can make Diego a winger, and switch the entire front line to cater to his (and Vargas' if vargas didn't pull what he did) needs. The sooner he realizes that you can't turn Diego into a winger, the better. Even if we acquire a really good RW, Platella still should have a spot on the squad, but what is happening now is a complete waste of a player who was constantly improving. Diego doesn't have the body or the endurance to play on the wing and muscle or speed passed defenders throughout the game without getting gassed. His best role is behind Aravidi and in front of Mandalo. Or to come in as a sub. Platella, you can say anything about , but the guy creates HAVOC on the opposing side because he is able to break into the box with ease. Not to mention he does a lot of little things that people don't acknowledge.

  12. This kind of violence hurts the teams, the particular sport, and the fans. So, let's see, PAO will now have to pay $100,000 to fix Leoforos, ontop of whatever fines from the league, possible points deductions, etc. Berg and others are disgusted by this and now want to leave. I wouldn't be surprised if they do so in January. I was hanging out with a couple friends on Saturday to watch the Real-Barca game, but I was sneaking peeks into the PAO-Oly game situation. It was embarrassing. Outsiders see the situation as we would see it if such events were happening in a Third World country, dismissing the idiocy of the people involved as primitive and uncivilized. Well, are they right?

  13. Maybe his style resonates with Yanks where a lot of the sports in the US are all about statistics ? What a lot of people don't grasp is that it doesn't matter if you're the best football genius in the world, if the players don't listen to you, it doesn't mean anything. If Rogers has lost the players (and it does seem that way) then it's over.
