If Greece get back to defending like we did in the Rehagel & Santos era we will be successful. We need to rely on our solid defensive play and hit teams on the counter and take our chances when they present themselves as was the case in Belgium. Greece will be back in Euro 2020 we have made a final and won a major trophy unlike the eglesi who are still waiting after 52 years ?. Also there friends the Canadians here play in the very weak CONCACAF region and fail miserably every World Cup qualifying cycle.

I'd like to see something like this -----------------------Vlachodimos ---------Sokratis-------Siovas-------Manolas Torosidis------Pelkas----Kourbelis-----Koutris ---------------Fortounis----------Donis ---------------------------Koulouris Pelkas is a good choice as an 8. You can replace Kourbelis with Zeca if you like. And Donis can also serve as a second striker next to koulouris.

Kougias and Karapapas howling like wolves. Aowwww. They’re crying and whinging is something else. Brings tears to my eyes. Kougias I can kind of “understand”. The man is impetuous. He can’t be helped. Karapapas where do you start. And we wonder what is wrong with Greece when you have characters like this that are actually employed and get a salary to spew their idiocy. We’ll set aside the fact that for years Oly benefited from bad refereeing but now that their team isn’t strong enough to overcome it, they want “better” referees. Maybe Karapapas should make an alliance with Savvidis to try get VAR ? But I suspect he doesn’t want better referees, he just wants referees that are more pro Oly. The hypocrisy is truly astounding. One day Oly will lose or draw a game and they won’t compile a long list of all the penalties and fouls they didn’t receive. I leave you with Hanlon’s Razor (regarding the quality of Greek refereeing which has been hollowed out for years) : Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Φίλε μου ukworm ότι ήθελα να πω το είπες. Όταν πίσω από τα λάθη βλέπεις πως απαριθμείς όλη την ομάδα, τότε ασφαλώς και συμπεριλαμβάνονται σε αυτά ο προπονητής και η διοίκηση που τους μάζεψε. Έχουμε κάκιστο σκάουτινγ και ακόμη χειρότερη τεχνικό επιτελείο που θα δέσει τις μονάδες που υπάρχουν. Αλλά νομίζω πως το πράμα πάει βαθύτερα. Είμαστε αδιόρθωτοι σε όλα. Αρχής γενομένης από τη διοίκηση. Ιδού, έχουμε μια πεντακάθαρη ήττα, όπου δεν μας φταίει ούτε ο διαιτητής, ούτε ο αντίπαλος και στην οποία επιτέλους όλοι μπορούν να δουν τα λάθη και τις ελλείψεις τους. Αλλά ΔΕΝ ΤΟ ΒΛΕΠΟΥΝ. Και πουλάνε σανό στους φιλάθλους. Πως έχουμε τάχα παικτάρες και ομαδάρα κλπ. Οπότε εγώ θα το πω από τώρα: Δυστυχώς τα χειρότερα έρχονται. Και με Παναιτωλικό, Ξάνθη κλπ δεν θα έχουμε ούτε τη δικαιολογία πως ο αντίπαλος ήταν καλύτερος. Ο Καρυπίδης βλέπει τη τσέπη του και οι άλλοι τη θέση τους. Μόνο οι οπαδοί βλέπουν τον αληθινό Άρη ψηλά στην συνείδηση τους, αλλά στο χορτάρι την ομαδούλα που ζορίστηκε 4 χρόνια να ανέβει στην κατηγορία που είναι η θέση της. Τούτο όμως τους κούρασε. Κι αυτή είναι η πιο μεγάλη ζημιά (και) της χθεσινής ήττας. Ο Άρης διώχνει τον κόσμο του και ταυτόχρονα γεμίζει τα ταμεία της ΕΡΤ από την τηλεθέαση, επειδή αρέσει στο φίλαθλο κόσμο το ανοικτό ποδόσφαιρο.. Πλην όμως ενώ ο φίλαθλος το χαίρεται το τζάμπα θέαμα, η ήττα πονάει τον οπαδό. Και με την ευκαιρία αυτή να πω το εξής: Είναι ντροπή για την ΕΡΤ να τσεπώνει το παραδάκι από την τεράστια τηλεθέαση των αγώνων του Άρη και η περιγραφή τους να είναι τόσο μεροληπτική. Αναφέρω μόνο τα κραυγαλέα: Χθες, καθαρότατο πέναλτι στον Γιουνές, "είναι από τις φάσεις που ο διαιτητής θα το σφυρίξει μόνο αν πάει η μπάλα σε αυτόν", η περιγραφή. Πάοκ-Άρης 1-1: καθαρότατο πέναλτι στον Γκάμα, "ούτε καν τον ακουμπάει" η περιγραφή. Το αντίθετο τώρα στον ίδιο αγώνα: Πέναλτι στα όρια της περιοχής του Άρη, άμεσα πέναλτι για τον περιγράφοντα. Όλος ο κόσμος είδε 10 ριπλέι και δεν φαίνεται ξεκάθαρα η παράβαση, αλλά ο περιγράφων την είδε άμεσα. Φυσικά και ο Σιδηρόπουλος που η όραση του βελτιώνεται όταν πρόκειται για πέναλτι σε βάρος μας και την χάνει άμα πρόκειται να το δώσει υπέρ. Ακόμη χειρότερη ήταν η περιγραφή του στο Άρης-ΠΑΟ 1-1. Περιέγραφε τον ΠΑΟ και τις αδυναμίες του παρά τον γηπεδούχο. Γι' αυτόν έπαιζε ο ΠΑΟ με τον "άλλον". Δεν θα πω πως οι διαιτητές θα πρέπει να τιμούν το ψωμί που τρώνε, -γιατί τρώνε από το αφεντικό του συμπολίτη- αλλά, νομίζω πως η ομάδα μας αξίζει μιας αξιοπρεπέστερης περιγραφής. Αντικειμενικής κατά το δυνατόν. Κι όχι να υποστηρίζεις ανοικτά τον αντίπαλο, όταν ο Άρης είναι γηπεδούχος, και τον γηπεδούχο σαν παίζει με τον Άρη. Διότι τούτο δείχνει εμπάθεια, που είναι δικαίωμα σου να την έχεις ή όχι, αλλά τούτο ούτε αντικειμενικό σε κάνει ούτε και τιμά το κρατικό κανάλι που "τρώει" καλά από αυτόν που εσύ "απαξιώνεις".

No jvc, you are wrong. We got 30 points from the referees so far. If it wasn't for them, PAOK would be in the second to last place probably. To more important stuff: If you are a good boy, Savvidis will work it out and Panathinaikos can finish in the 2nd place. You just have to be a good boy and the halifi will take care of you. Panathinaikos will be thriving in Europa League and PAOK in Champions League. Are you in?

That's a good assessment, Greece coaches in the last 4 years have failed to play our best starting 11. I remember that Hungary match were we won in wild fashion 4-3, but I think that was a strong lineup and the best at that time as you said. How in the world were Tzavellas and Tziolis playing in the last World Cup qualifying and even in the Nations league? There are way better options for those two players. Also Siovas not being on the field except when Ange came in and he played vs Finland, the guy plays in La Liga for crying out loud. Pelkas and Mantalos playing on the outside has proven not to work yet they still keep playing them there. Mantalos has totally lost his confidence in the last year or so and I dont know if I would go with him for the Euro qualifiers.

For me too. Being 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 Greek is no issue at all. As long as you really wanna play for your country and not treat it like a "good career" choice. But I just don't see how Villafanez will solve our problem. We have Fortounis, Pelkas, Donis, Lamprou, Limnios, Lazaros, Fetfatzidis and even Chatzigiovanis. Fortounis really isn't the problem here. That's plenty attacking options. Villafanez and Klonaridis won't add much I'm afraid. Although Klonaridis isn't worse than the ones mentioned. But he was seriously waiting for a call-up for Belgium all the years. I mean there is zero chance that will ever happen. We lack a proper (in form) striker and a strong defensive midfield. Guys like Zeca, Bouchalakis, Koutroubis, Tziolis, etc are very limited. It may also be time for the coach to change the system of the Ethniki. This 4-2-3-1 didn't do much for us.
