FIFA have suspended EPO for letting the greek government interfere with sporting affairs. FIFA apparently have EPO many warnings but have now suspended EPO which means no international football for international and club status.

im not worried about the european campaign this year. a solution will be found in the next week or so but it looks like Larisa will not be allowed to play in Intertoto which is sad cuz they had a really good chance to advance to the final round of the Uefa cup qualies.

As for Saviola, if u peeps think that he'll come to Pao, ur dreaming. players like Saviola would much rather ride the bench for a team like Arsenal and stay in the papers rather then come to the greek championship and potentially lose his position in the Argentinian national team.

as far as Lagos goes, he is super highy over rated and i would rather see Mendez then him at midfield.

anyway, lets hope we could get one more big name to help greece slowly grow into a semi decent league and be able to hope for bigger names in the futur.

FIFA suspends the Hellenic Football Federation

The FIFA Emergency Committee, composed of five presidents and one representative of each of the six confederations, today (3 July 2006) decided to suspend the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF), having determined that the situation of the HFF is not in line with the principles of the FIFA Statutes regarding the independence of member associations and the independence of the decision-making process of the football-governing body in each country.

In September 2005, the FIFA Executive Committee gave the HFF a deadline of 15 July 2006 to obtain from the Greek government an amendment to the national law on sports in order to enable the association to be in conformity with the FIFA Statutes and the relevant UEFA regulations.

In spite of repeated warnings from both FIFA and UEFA, the commitment expressed by Greek government representatives to amend the law on sport to irrevocably recognise that football matters can only be decided by the HFF and its subordinated football structures has not been respected. In fact, the recently-presented draft of a new law on professional leagues constitutes another example of interference from the government in football affairs. Therefore, the FIFA Emergency Committee has determined that the deadline would not be met by the HFF and that the suspension of this federation was necessary.

This decision means that the HFF and all of its members (clubs, players, officials) are suspended with immediate effect and until further notice from all international contact, which also includes participation in international competitions at all levels, the organisation of international matches in Greece and the appointment of officials for international duties.

hmm looks like i was rigth about Saviola. He'll be on the bench next year for Arsenal rather then a starter for every single game at Pao.

As far as the whole Uefa situation goes, it will be resolved by next tuesday and LArisa FC and everyone else will be allowed to play in europe.

This is no way takes away the emabrassement.

Pao, will sign one more midfielder and rely solely on Bakke turning the team around. i dont worry though. This team is way better then their record showed last year.

the vote came in from EPO and tomorrow it will be ratified by UEFA thus allowing our club teams to participate in european competitons this year. maybe this will help with transfers over the next few days as it was for sure an obstacle during the past week.
