plato-ny Posted April 1, 2006 Share Posted April 1, 2006 Ten referees from Europe are among the 23 referees from 23 countries chosen to officiate at matches in the FIFA World Cup in Germany this summer. European referees The European referees are: Massimo Busacca (Switzerland), Frank De Bleeckere (Belgium), Massimo De Santis (Italy), Valentin Ivanov (Russia), Manuel Mejuto González (Spain), Markus Merk (Germany), Ľuboš Micheľ (Slovakia), Graham Poll (England), Eric Poulat (France) and Kyros Vassaras (Greece). FIFA said De Bleeckere's appointment is subject to a fitness test. The match officials will take charge of 48 group games and 64 matches in total in the final round in Germany.
