Stamatia Skarvelis won gold with an astonishing throw of 71.33, which she became the 3rd Greek athlete to go to Doha achieving the standard entry. She the 2nd behind Stellana Papadopoulou all-time in the women's hammer throw for Greece.

Rafaela Spanoudaki ran a personal best of 23.15, finishing 3rd. It's not enough to put her in Doha, but it is possible she may get in as a wild card

Today in Nikiti, Greece at the Sithonia Meeting, we got the results for the top Greek athletes 

Anagnostopulou - 1st place (58.49) 
N. Skarvelis - 2nd place (20.30) 
S. Skarveli - 3rd place (67.91)

Today is officially the final day for qualifications from the IAAF Entry Standard. 
Nikolaos Skarvelis could compete in Doha as a potential wild card, but we will wait and see.

Nikolaos Skarvelis broke the Greek National Indoor Record today in Iowa with a throw of 20.38 meters. What a great way to start your New Year!

Alexia Pappas ran a personal best of 2:34.26 and finished 10th place at the Chevron Houston Marathon. Well done!

No Greek woman has ever ran under 2:30, that will be impossible for her to accomplish that. She can break the Greek NR soon in the women's marathon of 2:33:40.

If there is any Greek that can break the 2:30 mark it's her. She almost broke the Greek record today and that was only her second marathon.

Kostas Douvalidis ran a season's best of 7.61 in Dusseldorf. He was just 0.02 seconds away from breaking his own Greek National Record in the 60 meter hurdles.

Three medals for Greece in the 25th Balkan Indoor Championships at Istanbul, Turkey.

Gold - Konstantinos Zikos 6.66 s

Silver - Theodoros Chrysanthopoulos 5.40 m

Silver - Elisavet Peseridou 8.20 s

My mistake, Vasiliou in the women's 400 meters won silver with a new indoor PB of 52.93. 
That makes it 4 medals

At the World Athletics Indoor Tour in Torun, Poland (Where the European Indoor is held), Paraskevi Papachristou broke her indoor personal best at 14.60.

Men's 
Shot Put : Odysseus Mouzenidis, Tasos Latiflari 
Discus Throw : Iasonas Thanopoulos 
Hammer Throw : Christos Frantzeskakis 
Javelin Throw : Georgios Christakakos

Women's 
Discus Throw : Chrisoula Anagnostopoulou, Sofia Kessidi
Hammer Throw : Iliana Korosidou, Stavroula Kosmidou
Javelin Throw : Elina Tzengko, Melpomeni Grigoriadou


Mihail Anastasakis will not take part in the event due to personal reasons. He won silver at the 2019 European Throwing Cup in Samorin, Slovakia

In day one of the European Throwing Cup the results for our Greek athletes 

Anastasios Latiflari finished 10th in the men's shot put with a PB of 19.46 
Georgios Christokakis finished 23rd in the men's javelin throw at 69.36 
Sofia Kessidi finished 11th in the women's discus throw (under 23) at 49.02
Stavroula Kosmidou finished 5th in the women's hammer throw (under 23) with a PB of 63.10

In day two of the European Throwing Cup the results for our Greek athletes 

Christos Frantzeskakis became the first Greek athlete to win gold medal in the European Throwing Cup at any level with a SB of 75.10 in the men's hammer throw (under 23). Odyessus Mouzenidis got the silver medal in the men's shot put (under 23) at 19.81. 

Chrisoula Anagnostopoulou finished 11th in the women's discus throw with a SB at 56.65
Melpomeni Grigoriadou finished 7th in the women's javelin throw (under 23) at 52.33
Iliana Korosidou finished 19th in the women's hammer throw with a SB at 64.16
Elina Tzengko finished 7th in the women's javelin throw with a SB at 58.72
Iason Thanopoulos finished 26th in the men's discus throw at 53.46

Miltiadis Tentoglou became the world leader of 2021 with an astonishing jump of 8.60 at a meet in Kallithea. He was 7 centimeters away from breaking Louis Tsatoumas Greek national record of 8.66.
