JOHNNY
If the critics of Alex McLeish are to be believed, don't count on an easy victory for the Gers. It seems ridiculous, but Rangers fans are calling for his head after dropping 2 points away to Aberdeen on Saturday. If they lose to CSKA Moscow and Livingston over the next week or so, who knows what his future will hold. Already mentioned as possible replacements are the usual suspects Gordon Strachan and George Graham.
Irlandos
Ridiculous! Aberdeen were a good home side and the draw doesn't surprise me. I also expect a draw v. CSKA Moscow and a possible loss of points to Livingston as a result of the long trip. After that, things should settle down. Rangers fans are too demanding! After an unconvincing home victory over bottom club Inverness with Dado Prso grabbing a rare goal, the coming 10 days could be crucial for under-fire Rangers boss Alex McLeish. A League Cup tie away to Aberdeen, an away league match at Dundee followed by a Uefa Cup 2nd leg match at home to Maritimo could see his future at Ibrox sealed. Another name being linked to the post is Motherwell boss and former England and Rangers captain Terry Butcher.

The 3-0 victory, followed by Rangers away win at Dundee, keeps the gap at 5 points. The weekend draw for the quarter final of the CIS Cup threw up an Old Firm tie at Ibrox. Celtic's comfortable victory at home to Hearts and Rangers hard fought win away to Motherwell, shows the Ibrox side are still some way off matching their city rivals. 2 goals by Dado Prso and a first for Juninho takes some of the pressure off the under performing stars. At Pittodrie, Aberdeen had the unusual experience of using the away dressing room as they played temporary tenants Inverness in a so-called away match. Familiar surroundings saw them ease to 3-1 victory, puting them into 3rd place. The new Aberdeen managerial team of Jimmy Calderwood and Jimmy Nicholl have brought a dramatic turnaround from the relegation battles of the last few seasons. Celtic raced to a 4 goal first half lead, but despite two Livingston strikes the result was never in doubt. Over at Ibrox, a stunning 25 yard free kick from United winger Barry Robson in the 88th minute, saw the 'Arabs' snatch a point, and Stefan Klos concede his first goal in 812 minutes. Once again Rangers were left to rue the lack of a killer instict in front of goal. Hearts came out on top in the first Edinburgh derby of the season, to go level on points with rivals Hibernian winning 2-1 at Tynecastle.

Aberdeen, who were 2 goals up after 5 minutes, scored a last minute winner to take all the points. The Dons keep up the pressure on 2nd place Rangers, who defeated Dunfermline 2-1, after falling behind to a typical left foot 25 yard strike from Craig Brewster. At Tannadice, Dundee United moved to bottom of the table on goal difference despite gaining another point at home to Hearts. Irlandos
At Tannadice, Dundee United moved to bottom of the table on goal difference despite gaining another point at home to Hearts. You know you're in trouble when you start talking about "gaining a point" at home! :P However, I still think it will be Livingston, Callie Thistle or Dunfermline that will make the drop not Dundee Utd. JOHNNY
On the back of four defeats in a row, conceding something like 18 goals in the process, draws against Rangers and Hearts must be seen as positives for us. After some excellent home form in the second half of last season, which helped United climb into the top half of the league, the performances this season have been poor with the only victory coming against fellow strugglers Inverness. But you learn to be positive as an arab, and must now take the view that the only way is up. Unless of course we are relegated!! :o :o Was feeling a bit nostalgic last night and read a bit of Jim McLean's autobiography. His account of those great European nights of 1986-87 brought a dampness to my eye. Great days indeed, but from a different footballing era - never to return.
