slick13
05/11/2004. Boavista have announced that they have released six players. Defenders Rui Oscar, Luis Pedrosa, Duda, Mario Loja, Pedro Santos and Jocivalter have all been released by the club after one-on-one meetings with manager Jaime Pacheco. The club also announced that they will not exercise the option to renew central defender Ricardo Silva's loan deal. As a result, Ricardo Silva will return to FC Porto. Five of the six players released were all an integral part of Boavista's run to the Uefa Cup semifinals last season, but have not impressed manager Jamie Pacheco this season. There is also speculation that club captain Jorge Silva may also be released. The Portuguese international has been hampered with injuries for the past two seasons and Boavista are said to be negotiating his release. Boavista had a disappointing season as they finished 8th and failed to secure a spot in the Uefa Cup. Former manager Jaime Pacheco took over his old position from Erwin Sanchez mid way through the season.
